He really wasn't. You might be thinking of someone else, but he was brilliant in 6 games for us before he got recalled by his parent club.

There was a rumour a few months ago that he had set up a trust fund for the club in the event of his death, and it seemed a little too "nice" to be true. However the notion that he has been ill for sometime would suddenly mean this makes much more sense.

Perhaps, Cortese thought getting promoted would make Liebherr happier and Pardew thought winning a cup would make him happier.

Indeed...I was emotional when I heard the news but now i'm fighting back the tears, as any of us in his situation would have done exactly the same i'm sure. Anybody, absolutely anybody, who doubted his motives has their answer now - he loved Southampton Football Club.

I think renaming the stadium is the best idea.
