I tell you what, there's potential to make a lot of money betting on this. The youth teams are all very long odds despite potentially have a few senior players in. Saints, leicester, everton, sunderland and west brom all to win against league 1 or 2 sides is 200/1.

That came in about 2005. I remember Niemi saving a penalty away to Derby but it being retaken because he was slightly off his line, and them then scoring. Also remember a few penalties being retaken at the time due to players stuttering their run up, but like most FA initiatives it slowly died after a couple of seasons.

It's an utterly stupid question as every team is going to finish "lower" at some point, whatever your strategy is. Even if we'd kept Mane, Pelle and Wanyama it would have been a monumental ask to finish top 6 again.
