I'm not so sure. When a player is transferred you're not actually buying the player - that would be slavery. You're buying his contract, and a contract is binding. In the system suggested such a contract could be signed when a kid first enters the academy. No transfers before 21 and a wage cap below 50k a week and the game would steadily improve.

Why would he get so unhappy about that? He was clearly told (or at least was given hints) that he could leave.

WBA have still got decent players, Allardyce, for all his faults, knows how to keep teams up, Swansea are making great signings, and none of the newly promoted sides look weak at all (although QPR/Redknapp are using the same failed strategy as last time).

Not usually pessimistic, but I wouldn't be surprised if we see Chambers and Schneiderlin sold and Koeman resigning before the start of the season.

And looking at other teams, there's no outstandingly weak ones. Sunderland and Villa maybe, but other than that...

As I just posted on another thread, with Chambers going as well the club needs to give us answers. This level of outgoing transfer activity has never been seen before in the Prem, let alone for a team that finished in the top 10.

I'm not a bedwetter, a "fan on the board" type or any such crap. But the club needs to give answers now. This is ridiculous. This has NEVER happened before - a team in the top 10 of the top flight selling 6+ first team starters. This is not the actions of a club aiming for Europe.

Looking that way. An announcement first thing tomorrow about Chambers leaving for such a pathetic amount to a team he won't get first team football at will knock the stuffing right out of me. My enthusiasm for next season is slowly slipping.
