Takes a good corner too. Not that we've been needing that...... ?
  2. Saints fan as far as I know (or maybe his daughter). One of my mates sold him two spare tickets at some away game in 2003. Then, when we got to the cup final same mate cheekily emailed him (he was at the bbc then) to see if he had any spares. GD sent a car round to drop off two tickets just behind the BBC commentators. The kind of thing the Daily Mail would have a field day with these days!
  3. In fairness Pap, despite what the headline says, they're not in session. No Speaker in the chair so I suspect before or after. However, that picture illustrates a lot. There's so much regurgitation and thereby misinformation out on the web, it makes it very hard to find any kind of truth. I've no doubt there are high profile people with secrets both noncey and other, just as many, if not more than in the general population. Equally I'm not sure that we can find someone in the UK to chair the enquiry without some connection to the establishment. However, I also worry that internet sleuthing can lead to false accusations. It will be interesting to see if the Bill Cosby affair unlocks similar in the home of the casting couch, or whether this is a peculiarly British phenomenon.
  4. I think this is evidence of the next move in Spurs' poaching of our structure. When will it end.... http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/20141127-vacancy-public-catering-assistant-2108460.aspx?
  5. The law agrees with him as reflected in the punishment, not in the offence. Personally I disagree with this and think it would be better to have a murder/manslaughter equivalent but being neither a lawyer, nor a woman, I am sure there are reasons why things are as they are. The point isn't about the crime though - no one except those who were in the court for the trial can have a reasoned and informed opinion (not that that stops people) - it's about the principle of whether you can return to work after completing your punishment. That is the case where a differential offence would help make a judgement (I.e. It feels like it would be easier to accept back to the team who was guilty of manslaughter than murder).
  6. It's naive to boil it down to that one point. In my mind there are three: 1) Is Ched Evans guilty? Yes, that's what the legal system found and no amount of journalism or internet sleuthery is going to change that. 2) Are all rapes equal? Yes they are in the eyes of the law (although not in the length of sentence). Personally this is an area I think should change. Regardless of Evans' particular case there's a world of difference between a habitual predator and a drunk teenager's "mistake". 3) Should every sentence be a life sentence? There's not one of us that hasn't done something that could have turns out differently if the dice fell differently. If you get punished and do the time, shouldn't we wipe the slate and let people work again (provided there's no trust / vulnerability issues). There was a bloke on the radio a few days ago who was refused a job for a single criminal record (burglarly) 40 years ago. Clearly a crazy situation. Anyway, up the Saints
  7. Based on this thread we should just scrap 400 years of legal framework and judge people (either way) based on heresay/newspaper articles and message board precis. The jury sat through x days of arguments to make their decision as will any appeal. Best to leave it at that.
  8. Hospital car park, £3ish for 2hrs if Charlotte place is full.
  9. It depends what is in the loan agreements. If we have a first refusal and agreed price then I'd wait until the summer. It'll keep the players hungry and protect Saints against any long term injury between now and then. Perhaps (other than player happiness and possibly reducing other clubs likely challenging us for their signature ), the only benefit is if it would allow Bertrand to play vs. Chelsea.
  10. Sound quality is key. It doesn't matter what you say if it sounds like you have your head in a bin!
  11. Yet another Dutch site my phone won't open videos on....
  12. I thought he looked good in the WC. Plays everywhere, good engine even at 34.
  13. Reading this back is golden. What's the collective noun for a bunch of knee jerking penises?
  14. I wonder if the international call ups had a negative impact on some of our performances? It's got to be in the back of peoples mind not to want to get injured before a debut call up?
  15. Agreed. I suggest we need a minutes silence.
  16. Years ago in the Lowe / Wilde era there was a concerted effort by the rival groups to influence fans through message boards. A few favours, trips and freebies led to this message boards previous incarnation being in the pocket of one of the parties, the rival party hired some PR goons to post positive messages on his behalf and got rumbled by some IP address detective work. Hence the 'plant' suspicion pervades in some posters. You can't blame the club for conducting good PR, they should be, however a posters objectivity can be the cost.
  17. I think people are being a bit precious. It's true that fan's expectations at Liverpool are greater (years of titles) than at Southampton (years of flirting with relegation). It's also true that teams are more inclined to park the bus at Anfield than at St Mary's. I'm sad that it ended like it did and some of the things he said weren't the wisest - but I really doubt the way he was interpreted is the way he really feels (otherwise he would have left in L1). It's not like he didn't put in a shift and had been with us for years. From me, Lovren after one season represents more of a betrayal. Either way, I think we have replaced well.
  18. Very much agree. Lambert is best played as a string puller as per Teddy Sheringham. He's not the best as a target man which there's a danger a bench warmer will be seen as. It's a shame because, as a bit part player, I think he'll struggle to read double figures (in apps and goals).
  19. Agree with this. Too much recycled garbage. Or "Agree with THIS! Too much RECYCLED garbage" as the prepubescent headline writers would have it.
  20. Worked for me. not sure I'll use it tbh but worth a try. I've NFC on my cards already so an extra step of loading cash seems a bit of a pain.
  21. Is this really an issue, or just a result of our "someone's offended somewhere" culture? Granted there might be some living relatives of survivors but no one alive who knew someone who perished. Of those, I doubt any are on Twitter. I all for outrage but there are plenty of other current issues to be outraged about.
