  1. I'm confused. When did Krueger announce there had been no offers? What he said was: "The preparation that’s been done by our scouts and recruiters make us feel we can move quite quickly to the next step to then present a shortlist of managers that we are considering, and then we can then move forward on the players, because we want the manager to make some decisions and be involved with who comes and goes, and they need to be able to continue to push the Saints forward." This being held up as saying we wouldn't sell anyone without a manager in place (it doesn't say that) and that we've had no offers (which was probably Reed a couple of weeks before the season ended). Am I looking at the wrong statement or is your outrage based on dodgy facts?
  2. Thank god for the team around Les Reed. They must have worked really hard to mask his incompetence as we went from L1 to 8th in the Premier League....
  3. But we were told on good authority that Liverpool had made a final offer and wanted to close the deal before the world cup, else they'll look elsewhere....... Personally Brendan Rogers / Lallana's Agents persistence in dealing through the press is getting on my wick. It would make me want to hold out for more, just to stick it to 'em. But then it's not my money
  4. I think the vitriol and "get rid" attitudes are just playing into the hands of a club (LFC) and players advisers who want the deal done via the press. I think it's sly of Liverpool who (quite rightly) have *****ed about their players being poached in this way. As a result I vote we stick to our guns and deal after the world cup. Sign as many shirts as you lil Adam, hell, sign Ian Rush's man boobs for all we care. You ain't going anywhere until we say so.
  5. Liverpool will finish 6th next season. Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Man U, Everton. They had an amazing run at the end of last season, during which they spawned several matches. I doubt it's replicable and their defense is ****house.
  6. In fairness we were trying to flog him to West Ham in January. I still think we shouldn't be selling anyone before the World Cup.
  7. If I am being optimistic, I'd have been worried if the fee was 9m. If that was the case then I'd have seen it as a makeweight in any Lallana deal (designed to offset a sell on to Bournemouth). But I do think the board have made a mistake by not categorically ruling out sales before the world cup. As it is we seem open for business and not in control of things.
  8. Glad to see the cynics are out in force on this board and it doesn't matter what he says. People need to realise that the Swiss aren't flash or showy - they'll go on about their business quietly and not through the press (unlike the North London Yobbos). I'd like someone to tell me what Saints should have done to keep him? If the guy's heart was set on leaving for what (undoubtedly) is a 'bigger' club (albeit a bunch of *****), what could they have done? If you offer more money than Spurs, likelihood they still win because they can offer Europe and a higher profile. To be honest we lost MP the day that NC left - and many celebrated this ("we've got our club back" etc.), just like they did with Wilde - and then look what happened. That said, NC decided to leave because of the governance KL wanted and at the end of the day it's KL's club and KL's money, you can't blame her if she wanted more control over her asset. Has anyone noticed that one of the reason Spurs is attractive is the wealth of big name (albeit underperforming) talent they have? Any manager worth his salt would think I can do something with them. Ironic then that that talent that was (in part) paid for by our own Gareth Bale - giving up that sell on clause has hurt us in more ways than one.
  9. Onwards and upwards. I look forward to the last game of next season with Spurs needing 3 points away at St Mary's for CL qualification. I don't know which of, a last minute disputed RL equaliser or a 3-0 total football home win would give me the most pleasure. Either way, WTFWBLN? COYR Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Tapatalk
  10. It's a sad day for football. Effectively it says, as if we didn't already know, that money talks. Our club which has nurtured and been lauded for its youth policy is open to be dismantled by clubs that can offer competitions and salaries we can't match. I do fear a domino effect of MP's departure What's the point then of developing youth, unless for the business of selling them on? I like MP but I hope Spurs turns out to be a mistake. Not necessarily to punish him but to see the smugness wiped off Levy's face - because I've no doubt they'll be using MP to turn some of our players heads. That said, I've renewed, so **** everyone else. COYR. Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Tapatalk
  11. Is Luke Shaw a bit thick? I ask because whilst he has is a class player, he keeps making the same mistakes again and again. Not on the pitch but on Social Media. Although he's part of Generation Me, everything out there etc., you think he would have learnt that his Twitter actions have ramifications. Adkins, Dodd, liking a comment about joining Manu, now this. All things he has done and subsequently undone. Everyone makes mistakes but you have to learn from them. My recommendation Luke is to stay at St Mary's for a couple more years until you've nailed this Social Media malarky.
  12. It's Spurs' training ground players entrance according to the Spurs forum: http://www.spurscommunity.co.uk/index.php?threads/the-case-for-poch-to-be-new-manager-thread.108916/page-116 On that basis I'd say that his kids being there is a bad thing - suggests it is more of a done deal. That said it could have been taken in the wooing phase - did anyone see Poch out and about yesterday?
  13. I don't think he's right. It may or may not be the Spurs training ground but I don't think it's St Mary's - dark blue wall covering (fits with Spurs) but could be anywhere. If it is Spurs, strange you'd take your kids though - loose lips sink ships etc. The picture itself looks like it has been taken through a window but the original photo has no EXIF data (I'm sad, I checked) so the only way we'll be certain is if someone recognises it. Even if it is Spurs' training ground, it doesn't mean it's a done deal. There's no doubt MP is talking to Spurs, it's a question of whether he is seduced by the prospect of managing them. In someways they are an attractive proposition, in fact it reminds me of when Harry went there. Lot's of investment on top players who can't play together - the question MP has to answer is whether he could get them to click. His brand of high energy football needs a certain type of player - and he might find that hard to imprint on a bunch of individuals. On the flip side, when he came to Saints he inherited a team with a close bond, a very big difference - and Levy is a trigger happy SoB. The fact that he's talking to them, suggests he wants to further his career. If he does stay with Saints it will either be because of a statement of intent by ourselves, or because Spurs have chosen someone else. I wouldn't bet either way at present.
  14. "Next week" is the new "this week"
  15. There's a lot to be said for the OP's opinion, in fact all that is required is a "Saints Go Wilde" t-shirt and we have an uncanny link to past history. That said, it matters not whether NC or RK is at the helm - it was KL's chequebook behind the scenes so the outcome is likely to be the same.
  16. Nice vote to rig. I've voted for Skrtll - he's a modern day centre back with a name suitable for txt msging http://www.thisisanfield.com/2014/05/skrtel-vs-caulker-vs-lovren-complete-defender/
  17. I think it's realistic. If you're ambitious and mid twenties then you need to be playing CL football. I can't believe Saints will do that next season so do you stick or twist, knowing that you've got maybe 7 seasons left? Not enough Mananas for Lallana Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Tapatalk
  18. And behold, the power of the internet... Reducing a caveated tweet with 'no confirmation' and 'could' to a statement of fact.
  19. In fairness I think we are at a bit of a perfect storm moment. 1) Disruption in the board room (regardless of what you think of NC, he sold a vision to most of the current squad and the manager. The new board have yet to show their hand on this) 2) A nucleus of the team that has been together for 5 years (stands to reason some with outgrow the club) 3) Young players who have proved themselves (specifically Luke but also Chambers). 4) Exciting football by a progressive manager (likely to attract attention of wanabee 'flair' clubs) The complicating factor is that many of those things are triggers. If the board wind in the ambition, those players (like Lallana) who are at a turning point in their career, may have their head turned. If the manager goes, similarly they may look elsewhere. Ironically, the tightness of our squad who've grown up together may be our undoing. Once one of the kids leaves home, the others might decide they want to go too (especially if Dad leaves for that tart in North London).
  20. Lallana has changed his to @lallana69 - looks like he's getting lucky tonight. EDIT: oh, no he hasn't / isn't
  21. I don't get the camera paranoia, presumably you carry a smart phone around with you which isn't much different and ever present. I think the maintenance mode is over egging it for Kinect, voice is at the heart of the control so that element isn't going away. Motion gaming may get hit but that's always been a bit meh to me. Personally I think the Kinect is at the heart of many of the things that differentiate the Xbox from the PS4 (voice, IR, auto sign in etc.). At the same price point / same features, the perception on performance kicks in. It will be interesting if they bundle games at the reduced price. Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Tapatalk
  22. Are you two still at it? Differences are marginal to the masses, that said the PR machine and unpaid representatives with a penchant for freeze frame analysis have done a good job on making them an issue. Microsoft's biggest issue has been price. By coming in at a higher price and the perception of inferiority they've come second. I say perception because there are features that the Xbox has that PS4 doesn't (integrated media / HDMI, Kinect etc), but the PR momentum is focused on graphics. My experience is that the Xbox One is stellar. It's at the centre of our home entertainment, voice control works a treat, controller free use and (even without the one guide which should banish the Virgin remote) the experience is great. I play games and my son does too, but that's outweighed by TV / Netflix etc. That said for bedroom use where (a) space is smaller, (b) less likely to make use of HDMI/Kinect. then the PS4 is an obvious choice(ironic really given the graphics performance will be less obvious on most bedroom TVs) I suspect the demographic to whom the PS4 appeals most to are adolescents in their bedroom. They or their parents are going to be more price sensitive due to its niche use. My hypothesis is probably supported by that article comparing porn accessed on PS4 vs. Xbox. Microsoft have made their bed on price and lost the race. It remains to be seen if the long term entertainment hub takes off and can catch them up any. I, for one, hope it does because it really works well for us and I'd hate for it to be marginalized. Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Tapatalk
  23. Probably the only people who know are KL, King Ralph and MP; maybe Les Reed and MPs other half. In truth, until something is signed it could all change. My assumption is that MP is already fairly minted, so it'll be about the size of the opportunity (and funds available) rather than package. The question is does he think he could get more out of a bunch of big money, underperforming players at Spurs or up and coming stars at Saints (i.e. How keen are the board to keep hold of the in demand players is a factor). It does feel a bit like a house of cards though. If MP goes I expect a bit of an exodus. Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Tapatalk
  24. I don't understand, he didn't sign it? Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Tapatalk
  25. Surprised that ManU appointed him to be honest as at Everton I didn't think he was all that. Sure he did well in the Las few years but prior to that they had some bad spells. Certainly not a proponent of the beautiful game. As for Martinez, he's built on Moyes' defensive solidity with flair - but he'd be nowhere without loanees Lukaku and Barry. Is that built on sand? Either way, instability might be a good thing for us (reduced focus on our players for transfers etc.) Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Tapatalk
