  1. The first X months anywhere new are hard. My advice is stick at it rather than jacking it in. If after 4 months it's still crap, well you've done the stint and you'll know next time. In any industry news and colleagues move fast. Whenever we recruit we ask around for people that have worked in the same place. Reputations stick and if you become seen as someone who quits easy that can be hard to shake. It sounds like your manager is trying to accommodate you so I'd look to see if there's any way to ride out the 4 months. Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Board Express
  2. If Saintsweb did building.... - Alpine would tell you you should have done the driveway last summer. - Glasgow would say that he'd told everyone you were having your driveway done in the last transfer window. - Barry would come round every day and criticise the builder before the project was complete. - Dune would only let you have a single colour. - Bearsy would have sex on it yo! Other than that I can't help you. Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Board Express
  3. This is happening to the above post too.... please fix. Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Board Express
  4. I think retrospective punishment is the way to go. Play the game as is and give reds/yellows after the event for obvious fraud. It would be a brave ref who'd send Oscar off for the dive against us. However if he knew he'd get a red post match I don't think he'd do it. Punishment by yellow isn't sufficient as strikers are unlikely to get two in a match. Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Board Express
  5. It is very easy to blame the officials and forget the role players play in trying to kid the referee. For example with the Suarez trip yesterday, it's not like he hasn't got form for going down easily so, on some level, I can understand why a penalty wasn't given. Add it that the the ball was under control of another defender, outside the box and being run away from goal - by the letter of the law this is immaterial but undoubtedly have an influence. Personally I think if you could stop players kidding the ref then the perceived standard would rise significantly. I'd have a panel review games for dubious dives etc. and impose retrospective bans on players (increasing if it was a game altering decision - e.g. dive for a penalty 5 match ban). This would soon stamp it out. The handball in our game was more blatant and the only consideration is the closeness of the two players. Could he have moved his hand even if he wanted; I doubt it. Much as I would have liked it to be given I think it is a 50/50 - sometimes you get them, sometime you don't.
  6. Personally I think we should get rid of any player when they have an off day. We should have a zero tolerance for form or development at Saints. Suggest we could apply the same rule to posters on here...... Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Board Express
  7. Both the next gen consoles do not have games that exploit their power but they will come. Personally I think the Xbox has more chance of dominating in the long run because of the media angle. Voice control is good too (not perfect but promising) I prefer downloaded games rather than disks as it means I don't have to get off the sofa to change them but can understand why that would frustrate on new purchase. 8. History tells us Fox can be a liability but today Danny Fox had a good game. He's no world beater but today avoided any calamities, got forward well and did his job. Personally, I think Jos was the bigger problem. Several times he was caught out of position and Fox filled in for him (only for Spurs to exploit the LB position. I think with Fox, Jos and Gazza collectively the defense lacks confidence and that really hurt us today. Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Board Express
  9. It is the parents who sue the school when little Johnny breaks his wrist which leads to the over cautious approach.... I wasn't being sarcastic earlier. If you have a fine it should be meaningful enough to deter - at the moment it's not enough. I'd raise it to £60 per parent per day out. Otherwise it becomes a value judgement. I recognise that there are genuine reasons to take kids out of school but I just don't think economic ones are such. As parents we don't know when is a 'good' time for kids to miss school. If they miss a building block of knowledge, should the teacher have to revisit it just for them (when he/she could be teaching those that didn't go to Florida?). Over the course of school life, 2 weeks a year adds up to a lot (I'm not sure how much, I was on holiday when we learnt that...) It's a parents prerogative but personally I disagree with the practice. Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Board Express
  10. Fines are pretty much mandatory these days; latest rules say £60 per child, per parent. Personally I don't think it's enough of an economic deterrent because, as Tractor_Saint says, you can do the maths and it works out cheaper. On the brightside though, when Tractor's kids grow up they'll have missed so many lessons that it'll affect their employability and they'll not be able to afford holidays (even if they can, they'd struggle with the fine vs. cost equation). 11. What were the real reasons for his departure? I heard he was actively seeking a move away and got rumbled. Is that true? He is a good manager but comes across as an arrogant ******. If you saw him last year when Newcastle were struggling he didn't front up for his players which is a bit of a sign in my opinion. Can I be thankful for what he did for us but still think he's a ******? I'd take Nigel and MP instead any day. Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Board Express
  12. Our first play is for the CBs to move to the fullback position to receive the first ball and for the fluuback to move up to give an outlet option in midfield. What worries me is when the obvious midfield outlets are shut off we pass the ball across the back four - always gives me the willies.
  13. One area where Gazza is much better than Boruc is in his distribution. That said he is a young keeper who is still learning his trade. In the Nowhere Men (a book on being a scout), they talk up Paulo as one to watch. That doesn't mean he'll make it, but it does mean he's highly thought of. I can only hope that, ironically like Boruc, PG is able to make the critics eat their words....
  14. I'm sorry, anyone who comes out with the "revelation" that adding 10-12 players to your squad was disruptive isn't being insightful, they're being moronic for thinking it would work in the first place. Personally I think a maximum of 3 per transfer window is realistic to integrate with preferably no more than one per defense, midfield, attack. Evolution is always successful, revolutions fail more than they succeed.
  15. Good point given the conditions and the set back. I'm a glass is half full kind of guy but I am slightly concerned at our lack of clear chance creation. Smacks a bit of Arsenal in their early years under Arsene when they were guilty of taking one touch too many.
  16. I'd favour some way of limiting what you can spend child benefit on (eg. Children's clothes / essentials). I do think people take the **** with it - it shouldn't be for Sky for example. I'm a leftie at heart but one of the better things this government has done is to restrict child benefit for higher earners. They should do the same for other benefits such as winter fuel, bus pass etc. Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Board Express

  18. This somewhat takes me back to the days of Richard Chorley and his "open letters".... My email was similar and amazingly the numbers were right. Rupes didn't buy a ticket though but, if he had, I guess Markus wouldn't have happened so not all bad. From: 'Alain Perrin'@hotmail.co.uk To: tellrupert@saintsfc.co.uk Subject: Exciting Business Opportunity Date: 19th september 2006 12.41 Dear Saints I am writing with a potential solution to the financial problems we currently find ourselves in. I have a friend who works for Camelot and he has made me aware of what the lottery numbers will be next Saturday. As you may know it is a triple rollover and I think this could really boost the coffers. My friend advises me that the rollover will be in the region of £40m. I implore you to buy a ticket for 42 13 05 24 19 22. Thank you for reading this email and considering my recommendation. 21. This. Player cheating is the key. The only genuine impediment was against Walters, the rest could have stayed on their feet. You can see the trailing legs being left in which is just. Cynical in my opinion Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Board Express
  22. In contrast, our 2 year old iPad 1) is beginning to grind to a halt. I swear they buildin a performance decline as it used to be quite nippy. Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Board Express
  23. Any manager who repeatedly signs Kevin Nolan is ant-football. The way he niggles, complains to the ref etc. is within the laws, but not the spirit in my opinion. For example, the way Nolan stands in front of the keeper, blocking him off - and gets away with it is shocking. Personally I've enjoyed playing BFS for the last three years, I think he is about as deluded as some of the WHU fanbase. Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Board Express
  24. I wasn't happy as I liked Nigel. That said I could also understand why MP was/is an upgrade. NA wouldn't have 'attracted' any of the players we signed this season. Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Board Express
  25. Unlikely. No barrister wants losses against his/her name. More likely they want their day in court so they can publicise their cause. Personally I would order a media blackout on terrorism charges. Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Board Express
