Every good conspiracy theory has a plausibility that can be argued for. However, as with most, it's about risk/reward. The proposed 'actor' approach is possible but would have to involve so many complicit people that the risk of getting exposed would outweigh any reward. As in most cases, the simplest explanation is the most likely (i.e. It happened pretty much as publically described). That doesn't stop politicians and newspapers spinning it or using it to bury bad news, but that's a consequence rather than a cause. However the beauty of tin foil hats is they can be shaped to fit almost anything. Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Board Express

Personally I'd worry if we were signing a whole new 11 in a season. Targeted replacement, sensible improvement is the name of the game. Sunderland and Norwich have signed a lot of players (they had to) but there's and unknown factor too; can they play together? Will they adjust to the league. My fear of big money signings and big reputations is it can backfire. For every RVP there's a Torres. I wouldn't mind betting that half the players mentioned make little impact and a non-name outshines them. My money is still on Osvaldo, but I think it'll go to the wire. Ranking Premier League Strikers on Their Transfer Fee-to-Goal Ratio
Alain Perrin replied to dellboypete's topic in The Saints
The thing I miss from Lambert is the thirty yard pearlers he used to score for fun in L1. That's dropped away from his game, partly due to where/how he's playing but also, I think, confidence. Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Board Express -
As it lists Saints as still in the Championship and Ramirez on 14k per week, I guess "not very".... Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Board Express

No doubt people were affected and deserve compensation. However, there appears to be widespread fraud in the claims (ie. People claiming for multiples of their loss), that coupled with the "blame the British company" attitude means BP can feel hard done by. Oil is a part of life, so unless you've never complained about the price of petrol or sat on a plastic chair, it's hard to be morally clean about Big Oil. 40% tax-avoidance, child benefit, SIPP Pension conundrum
Alain Perrin replied to tony13579's topic in The Lounge
The risk you run is if the tax free cash option is reduced or eliminated as has been mooted. This may count against it as a credible repayment scheme. Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Board Express -
It would be interesting if you had the same opinion if you or one of yours were up before the court for murder. Justice makes mistakes and the death penalty is irreversible. I know you'll say this case is on video etc. , true there seems little doubt of guilt, but what about the next case where you can't quite see the defendent on the video m'lud but it looks like him from behind. I know the emotional reaction to beatings like this is go get him but that's not what we have a justice system for. I can't remember her name now but the women who spent years behind bars for 'killing' her baby only to be released when it was discovered she had a genetic condition that caused cot death. She had the boiling water treatment etc. but was innocent. I suppose though under your rules she'd have been hung. As I said, it's an easy reaction until it's real to you or yours. Ahh in a perfect world where every transfer we make is a good one. Yours is a very subjective list that doesn't inexplicably include Lambert, Sharp and many more that would show a balanced view. Also, if anything, getting to the premiership earlier than expected signed the death knell for some of those players (e.g. Lee) who otherwise would probably have been "good" in the Championship. Mayuka and Forren are the only ones in the bad list I agree with and even then Mayuka might come good. Ramirez may yet join the list but give him a bit of time. Forte should be on the good list for the fact that he cost us very little and (b) scored two crucial goals vs. MK Dons. Every transfer window is frustrating but we have been active and got some of our targets. Still plenty of time and lots of dependencies that sit behind why moves do or do not occur.

FFS what is Jose doing tapping up Rickie Lambert? We should get the FA on him. Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Board Express

Too be honest, it's quite offensive. Not only is it racial stereotyping, even for white guys like myself with extra large penis' it is objectifying. So please stop. Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Board Express

100 yrs time and it gets 'discovered'. Southampton will be in the GPL (Galactic Premier League) challenging for honours. Historians are unable to pinpoint which club the shirt belonged to, it could be Pompey but it is difficult to prove. Little is remembered of them as their club has long since folded and most of their fans have died off through excessive inbreeding. Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Board Express

No, sometimes the patient doesn't know what's good for them. I'd rather that the politicians we elect do what we pay them for. The public are too stupid to comprehend the pluses and minuses that inevitably exist in any decision. Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Board Express

Not strictly true as you have to factor in the booking fee. Not forgetting the general ball ache of booking tickets / not getting them for 'A' matches and the USB key you get witht he season ticket....

Driving a coach is very different to being on the touchline. Anyway, you lot should listen to me, not your crackpot mates. I used to manage Man Utd until recently so think I know what I'm talking about. In my opinion, Wanyama may or may not be a success in the Premier League. Damiao or similar top striker = Lambert moved back?
Alain Perrin replied to DuncanRG's topic in The Saints
Anyone who suggests we are going to bench our top scorer is barking. All that will happen if a big name comes in is more rotation which will suit Lambert. He's not the quickest but has the guile to unlock defences if he has willing runners working off him. MoPo's not going to change his style and Lambert is perfectly capable of playing a role in that. My biggest concern is if he's not on the pitch then who will take the penalties? -

In fairness, Lowe could have launched the finest Armani designed shirt and people would have marched against him. And he'd have been criticised for the press conference justifying it! l'll be back at 450 pages to turn off the lights. Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Board Express

Outrage is the new black, or in this case stripes. Twitter, Facebook and forums like this magnify and stir up discontent amongst the great unwashed (kept fresh and fragrant by Climacool TM) Personally I quite like the new kit and I can see why it is attractive to the club (Asian angle, cleaner presentation of sponsor etc.). That said, I find it amazing people care so much - at least until the next outrage comes along. Regardless no amount of *****ing is going to change it, so best go back to debating who we should sign. Just remember, a boycott of 10,000 is Wanyama's agent's kickback... Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Board Express

Liverpool bleating aside, Gaston should be given a chance. Surely Morgan is an object lesson in patience to the knee jerk reactionaries on this forum? Many of the same characters would have shipped him off on the next ferry or, as someone mentioned recently, played Paul Wotton in his place. Yes, Gaston is older, but that doesn't necessarily make settling in any easier.
