  1. Whilst I hope you are correct, £120 on easyjet and a couple of nights in El Primero Inn are small beer compared to a €20m transfer. Fingers crossed.
  2. I disagree.
  3. Quite clearly not the role for Hernandez, that's what we've bought Pelle for. If it happens, Hernandez will run off the man.
  4. Note sure this is "of note". History is littered with the corpses of clappers, punchers and badge kissers (Prutton and Lallana for two). It makes jack all difference when the Champions League money truck rolls into town.
  5. And don't forget Lallana was already hoping he'd play for Liverpool when he ran out at Anfield.... Sent from my RM-892_eu_euro1_227 using Tapatalk

  7. The problem isn't that we've lost players, it is that we've not been in control of the situation. When you think of how Saints have progressed over the last five years with largely the same core of players, some turnover was inevitable. However, the boards job was to massage that, spreading it over a couple of transfer windows (bribes, loyalty bonus, iron fist etc.) I can only think that with the boardroom overhaul and inexperience in roles hasn't helped. Regardless of loyalty, I think the outcome would have been different with a certain Italian megalomaniac at the helm. Sent from my RM-892_eu_euro1_227 using Tapatalk
  8. "You've ****ed up our club, You've ****ed up our club. Our useless board members, Have ****ed up our club"
  9. I'm a generally positive person and, most often, support the board because I believe the job is harder than armchair football managers believe. However, I do think that the situation has snowballed from them, starting with Rickie, then Lallana and Lovren pushing for moves. I genuinely believe Les Reed meant what he said about "probably met with a no", it's just circumstances have moved on. The board have been weak, either by saying not for sale or by swapping in an immediate replacement. As it stands, they've lost the PR battle - with the fans, with the players and, most worrying, with potential recruits. The club has a whiff of crisis about it, justified or not, and that can't help retain our existing players or attract new ones. What I can't understand is why they haven't tried to stem this? I don't get the asset strip argument (why spend 20m and recruit a top drawer manager?) but nor can I explain the seemingly slow recruitment policy. I suspect Les et al have decided next season will be about rebuilding so don't expect anything spectacular. My worry is that with the upheaval, even that will be a big ask. 10. To be fair, as a fan base (apart from me), we've got a poor track record of judgement. Hoddle (2nd coming), "We've got our club back" (Wilde in), Pinnacle, Adkins out, "We've got our club back" (NC out)... And that"s before you get onto player judgements before they've kicked a ball. This fallout was inevitable when NC was ousted. MP, then the players who had been here for years; all destabilising making others want to leave plus (presumably) harder to recruit. That said, we've a warchest. Assuming this isn't an exit strategy then it will be spent to fill the gaps and hopefully strengthen. Pellevan and Tadic look promising but the other replacements seem to be slow to arrive. COYRs. Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Tapatalk
  11. I work in the corporate world = I work in an office I work in finance = I work in a bank I work in high finance = I work in a bank (on the fifth floor) Chambers is annoying but, of all the players sold, least surprising. We've strength in than position and he's been sharing the role with Clyne. If I was playing back up, why not do it at Arsenal on double the salary. That said, if Kat was a business genius she'd sell the assets, relegate the club to L1, climb the leagues again giving young players a tonne of experience on the way and repeat. I suspect though it's not some plan, rather a domino effect of layer power that is causing this. Disappointing, yes. Deliberate, no. Avoidable, can't see how. (I work in logical thinking) Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Tapatalk
  12. I hear we're offering 2m for that Lambert bloke and are in for Sterling(£7m). Have some of that Scousers.
  13. Liverpool are guilty of shopping by tabloid but, as said, it happens all the time. What they have done, planned or unplanned, is to destabilize the club by going for the easy target (local boy Lambert) first. It's a house of cards from then on in. To be honest though, this situation was utterly predictable once Cortese walked/pushed. Too many players sold a dream, too many players who'd been here a while, and a manager who had a bond with the chairman and the players. It's a bit of a joke because, without Suarez, LFC will struggle to hit the heights they hit this year. I'm not sure how we arrest the slump except by persuading Lovern / Morgan to stay one more season. That seems unlikely by some of the press comments. Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Tapatalk

  15. To be fair, I'd rather she quit moaning about her phone charger and make sure the stitching on the new kit is straight.
  16. The only reason it is on hold is to allow Saints to complete a signing, probably Pelle, to sugar the pill of AL leaving. It's sad that the dream had to end here but the decimation of the team isn't surprising. It's not as a result of one factor, rather a combination of many of those mentioned - not least our remarkable rise. Best result for me is we persuade Lovren and Morgan on the basis of "one more year", allowing us to consolidate. As someone said, signing too many players is disruptive, just look at Norwich last season. Worrying times. Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Tapatalk
  17. There's a big difference between a care home and a football stadium (unless it's one of Redknapp's teams), and that is that £bn's is spent to watch people work in the stadium. Luke has a rare talent but the money he and others are on is reflective of that demand. No one objects when a rock star sells out Wembley, making millions. Football's just the same (divided by 22) with global TV money thrown in. Nice work if you can get it. Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Tapatalk
  18. Even with Suarez, Liverpool's title challenge was based on a great run of 8 or 9 straight victories at the tailend of the season, some which they spawned. With the burden of the CL, I think they'll struggle to make top 4 next year, without Suarez they're midtable. However, I do feel sorry for LFC, it's not fair that Suarez should be unsettled by newspaper reports, they'd never act in that way, would they?
  19. Let's shove it to the Scousers for their transfer by tabloid policy.... http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/liverpool-believe-lambert-lallana-lovren-3720762
  20. Sash or all red for me, I've never been a fan of stripes. However, I get that some people vocally want the stripes back and it is an easy fan pander PR move. Pity though.
  21. Pretty standard practice. New board comes in, states "this is a mess", and gets the kudos for fixing it. Naive in this situation as it set out the 'open for business sign, although that would have happened anyway once MP left. If MP did say one thing and do another I think the club are relatively blameless. You can't go round not trusting people as a norm.
  22. To be fair, general consensus is West Ham offered £5m and we said we wanted £8m. Situation with LFC is different. They've the big club draw, hometown club, no desperation factor and RL is older by 6 months.
  23. It would be interesting to know the wording of the email, not least because that can fundamentally change things. There's a big difference between, "I want out", "I want to see ambition", "I am concerned", "My preference is". As Lovren has said, he has a contract with Saints - short of going on strike he can be held to that. He's an important player for us (him and Wanyama were at the heart of our defensive strength) - and he's one of the spine that I think we need to keep hold of. Liverpool's dealing by press is getting shady and I, for one, hope they crash out of the CL next year whilst scrapping a Top 6 finish. Watch then as they ***** about the tabloid-ificiation of Suarez to Real rumours etc. They achieved CL qualification off the back of phenomenal run of wins post Christmas (some of which were quite spawny). They will undoubtedly get better with signings but there's a chance that, with the added burden of games, they hit a rut.
