Same for me. Growing up in Southampton they didn't really register too much. I cheered when they lost but only cos I was supposed to. I have a mate who will tell you he is "die hard pompey". Yet openly admitted to his group of mates who are all Saints fans "nah I can't be arsed to go watch them anymore. It's just crap. I'll wait until we're at least a championship team before I bother going" And yes, he was at the cup final. At the derby games. Went to their European away games. Gave it the big one about the cup. All very quiet these days though.

Just checked your post on their forum. Seems they didn't take to you either. Also noticed a few saying we're jealous and want to be just like them. Yes, they think we want to spend a generation in the lower leagues, followed by 7 years of top flight football (most of which in turmoil) then quickly get relegated a few times to the very foot of the football league pyramid which will take 2-3 generations to recover from if they're lucky. Yes...so envious we are. Deluded. P.s. It took all of about 2 replies before the "best fans" got trotted out. It's like a constant parody.

True. Much better than bloody Reading. And even Brighton to an extent.

What separates us and where the post codes meet I guess.

A few predictably patronising posts. However, I'd love it if they came up. Always been a 2nd team and good for South Coast football. Would be even better if it's at the expense of Arry. Plus, like it or not, it will be 2 good games for atmosphere and build up. I worked in Bournemouth for a couple of years and although they throw the word scummer about, there's a lot of saints fans down there who get very little abuse. It's not a hatred they have. Good luck to them.

Personally never really hated them. I know they hate us far more than we hate them. Up until 2003 I always wanted them to join us in the premier league for the good of south coast football. Then 2 things happened. They're total lack of respect after Ted Bates passed away, and then their total lack of humility once they got to the top table. Ever since they spent way beyond their means and bragged about it for 7 long years I've started to dislike them. Not hate, dislike. Now it's a brilliant gift that keeps on giving as they decline further and further. I never hope they go out of existence, just that as a club they suffer for generations. Only fair...not that they'd know the definition of fair.

20 Questions with Egil Ostenstad....
Golden Balls replied to georgeweahscousin's topic in The Saints
Good work. For all his goals, i remember him for one thing. I once saw him in Safeway in Portswood. He was behind me in the queue and yawned. He did one of those saliva jet spits and it went all over my arm. He didn't even notice. -
Love how he's winding her up even more by just speaking slowly and softly. Really pushing her buttons.
-
Jesus they are a desperate bunch.
-
I always thought they didn't work but a friend of mine got done recently doing 60 odd in a 50 on an empty road at 3am. Best to just observe it. Unless you can get next to a massive lorry when going through the camera. I hear if you change lanes you don't get caught. Not sure if that's true or not though.

I think McInness said he knows nothing of this agreement. Surely he'd know if it was a possibility....surely?
-
Don't see any reason for it to rise above inflation. If at all. We hardly sell out and price is a big reason for that. People will probably also hold back to see if we sell our bet players before buying a ST.

Looks like that has uploaded pretty badly. I'll try again later.

Update!! They have written to me. Didn't expect that as everyone I know who's had a ticket from them has never heard a word. Anyway, this is what it says. All sounds like a load of threats to intimate me into paying.
-
I think he had an Audi too with another personalised number plate.

All relative really. I've lived in Southampton (and close by), Plymouth, Exeter, Portsmouth, Crawley and Bognor. Admittedly some of these places for a short amount of time but Southampton is the best...by far. It's not amazing. It's not ****. It has the potential to be much more though.
-
Would like Sunderland to go down as we can never beat them. The thought of going all that way to see us lose again gives me shivers. Would like Adkins to beat 'Ary in the play off final. Would make his failure more public.

Never easy for a young keeper to break through. I know Les Read said recently he doesn't believe in investing in players development and a "Southampton way" only to then loan them out. However with keepers I think it's worth it.
-
Means nothing really I guess. Wonder why they chose St Mary's rather than Southampton.
-
Interesting. Hope this is yet another positive step in the development of SFC. Like the little nod to our history in that statement. Three tests coming up for that team. Get Poch to sign a new contract. Retain our best players. Recruiting players in the summer.
-
So long as Les Read remains here, we'll be fine.
-
I know. But still terrifying and uncontrollable when it goes wrong. That's where the fear is.
-
Will they ever learn? Well I guess they have. They've learnt plenty over the last few years about how to spend money they don't have. Why stop now? It all sounds like guff to me to sell tickets for next season. Would love it if they spent big on a promotion push and failed. They would be right in the **** with nobody to blame but themselves this time.

17k for L2 is a decent crowd. Even if it's kids for a quid and adults for £10. Decent crowd it may be, but my god, on twitter they're going on like it's something no other club could ever replicate. They were in the PL just a few years ago. Of course discounts and giveaways will put bums on seats. Shame they didn't put on a show to encourage repeat custom at full price.

I'm far from a Cameron fan but I don't see a problem with this
