  1. Wow amazing co-incidence. As I've mentioned elsewhere been having a huge spring clean/clear out and right at the back of a decrepit old suitcase buried under all the junk in the cupboard under the stairs I found all the old phot albums of my time down here. I honestly thought the ex wife had chucked them all in a fit of revenge. Anyway in the midst I found my pics of that day and the evening after, brought a tear to my eye just remembering THAT moment, jeez 10 years ago. Of course I had 200+ albums to scan through but as soon as I find that one book again I'll cscan some of the best ones and stick them up here somewhere. And who was our manager that day? Was a surprise to me to see I'd snapped him, had to think long and hard who the hell it was!
  2. Well, seeing as we don't get on with the likes of SISA, Saints Trust types & SRS wouldn't be hard to find a likely culprit
  3. Tony Pulis has left the building. Clearly there is an opening for a new waterboy. But not Di Canio. He clearly lacks any brain whatsoever if he feels he can get a job back in the UK ever having put himself in a position to have been photographed like that. Mind you lack of brain didn't seem to stop Avram & Nottreal having a career so yes, clearly a shoe in as Nottrea;'s next replacement at Nott Arf. Would fit right in
  4. Point is though that those who say it drags you down to the level of the criminal, no it doesn't. That is YOUR opinion from a UK viewpoint. To the society in which it is done it is simply what "God told them to do" as interpreted by their leaders and clerics. Now I think it is barbaric, but as Norway Saint actually says, you cannot look at this and criticise with Western eyes because the Society is so non-Western it is almost anti-western. Teh difference is of course in UK (and here) we can say this is Barbaric. In Iran you cannot say that as you would be calling God a Barbarian
  5. The last few dregs that remind us of the bad old days slip slowly into the sunset. Still, he gave us some laughs, hell even a memorable moment being one of the few to see play for Saints at SMS. The days of signing players to be squad cover for our reserve team have now long gone. Until Les Reed & his team find us another dud of course. It's football. it happens He'll end up at some non-league outfit and score a screamer against us in the FA Cup 3rd round next season no doubt
  6. Average salaries (for the non-hangers on at the time) as reported by the Echo around the time Holmes joined us were around 4k per week. (Similar to what Lloyd James was on) His current earnings will be around 200k per year. So again, let's try and put it a different way. You earn 200k a year. You have one more year to go on your employment contract but suffered an Indistrial injury for which you are not eligible for compensation restricting your ability to work properly. Your skills are not in demand because of the recession in the UK and you tell potential recruiters you think you are better but haven't had a full day at work to find out. Your boss says we will pay you off at half your contract. You know there is next to no chance that you will be employed again because you are very close to being on a disability benefit. What would you say to your boss? I HOPE he does get fully match fit. Point is he is under a contract and thanks to the Bosman ruling we cannot get rid of him. At LEAST he is not a Winston Bogarde and seems to be at least trying to give something back to the club and trying to get fit and into the team. Haven't once said anything about whether we should or should not keep him, simply that legally and pretty damned sure financially we have no choice
  7. Anyone really surprised? Even if true or not He's French and a Politician. Such weird things are ingrained in both breeds
  8. As some would argue... Give it 20 years and the encroachment of Sharia law into the UK and it'll be commonly carried out in Parkhurst. Seriously it is a very tough call. Just read the many articles in local papers and there are as many weird and babaric acts down in Iran (by men and women) as anywhere else. Does punishment actually deter these crimes in either culture? Does rehabilitation actually work. Nah shoot the lot of 'em or ship out to Australia. Was another story similar recently about an attack that left someone paralysed. Punishment? Surgical cutting of perp's spinal chord. Best to understand it goes on can't really call it barbaric when it is in The Bible and so many manage to interpret such words in so many ways
  9. Also 11th July in Salisbury. Kewl.
  10. Have spent the past few days on cupboard clear out duty. Actually the real reason was to find my Aussie Bush-man hat which IS the perfect Glasto hat. Finally found it after 3 days searching, but still cannot find my spare mob phone batteries so another 6 cupboards to go. But found Sooooooooo much stuff! Son aged about 4 in his Dimplex shirt (sweet) Rupes karaokeing, pics from the Dell games inc the last one & even a weekend trip up to Bradford in the PL - now THEY all have to be sorted and maybe sent to be digitised. In reality my summer is Mate's Weddding, Spike OldNick's Malibu, take me Mum with me GF to visit her (GF's) family in Poland, scout wedding sites for Daughter in Abruzzo (all Ryan air arrgh) then Glasto. Then for a change I have some work to do, but NOT until next week so back to the cupboards
  11. Only 4 more weeks until I can get revenge on OldNick for taking this thread off on a tangent. I'll spike his Malibu with a JaegerMeister
  12. While not up there with the Ashes Test Series prediction by Alps, pretty sure that this thread will contain some superb entries for Saints Web End of Season Awards in summer 2012. Just have to wait & see which side is right. But still lol'ing at those who can't read or don't understand the definition of under "Contract"
  13. Ah the Rupert Lowe business argument for football. let's ask the Gooners shall we. What would you rather have had in the past few years? 165 mil of added value? Or one trophy? Personally I think balance is always the key the concept is right but Wenger need a couple of wise heads in this year's team IMHO
  14. Jordan reads this site. It's his job. He spotted that most of us are planning to try and do important stuff this summer - fix those IKEA units bought 2 months ago, have a decent clear out of the cupboard under the stairs, cook BBQ's etc. Also a lot of us are swanning off on holidays, but poor old Jordan is the only person left at SMS while the players & management swan around the Caribbean or Vegas, so he's doing it on purpose to keep us glued to the screens day after day after day. He learnt how to do that from the Paul Allen threads. Of course he started the Michael Owen links. It's his REVENGE! Jordan - you bstd...
  15. All irrelevant. Wenger will be gone as soon as Jose is available. Unless Wenger signs some experienced heads to mount a proper challenge next season (Source - most of my Spud supporting mates)
  16. Seems to have been written by an old time fan who simply hasn't come to terms with the fact that we have people with brains instead of Ego's at the top now. That could be a good article IF written at the END of the Transfer & Loan windows assuming we sign nobody else. But right now just looks sad. All it needed was a single "We hope that we sign a more permananet first choice CB" or that "We hope that the Management actually believes Seaborne & Martin are ready" but no, doom and gloom stylee Clearly they ain't on the bus. Who runs that site? Oh
  17. Just to keep a specific number in mind, that 300m is also wholly co-incidentally the number that the EU lent them to help rescue Saab. In the "you couldn't make it up stakes" with regard to the ownership tales, forget the (unprovable) links to the Russian Mafia, I simply love the idea that you can now come up with a scam to bid to save a great European Manufacturing company, get loads of money out of the EU, then drip feed it into said company too slowly while making up partnership deals, before finally pouring all that free money into buying your own train set. Don't you love what the FA FL UEFA & Fifa have managed to do to the beautiful game?
  18. Sitting from miles away and obviously with no NHS visits for 18+ years I would tend to agree with you BTF that within the current system there probably is a decent job being done on keeping efficiences. But what you post does highlight is the (little c) conservatism of the mighty beast - your eg of the surgeon who wouldn't change. Now that may be for technical reasons but it may be for the "That's the way it's done reasons." My only possible input into this debate is to pose the question. What if you tore up everything there is about Health Provision by the State and started from a clean sheet of paper that required the Patient to get what they wanted when and where they wanted it? Blue Sky thinking it gets called. For example. Down here the mixed up Private/State system has had to grow incredibly quickly due to the huge growth of the population. Now what HAS evolved is interesting. The old "Doctors Surgery" of 18 years ago evolved to add dental practices. They found that by keeping some services in house they could increase the money they made for services so they started to bring in new generation X-Ray machines & technicians. Now for the patient that saved a lot of time and energy - see your quack get X-Ray and get instant diagnosis or referral. Again as they grew they added their own specialists so go see the quack with a sinus problem, you go straight upstairs to the ENT man. Again, as time passed what has actually happened is that these old GP surgeries have developed into mini-community hospitals. They take up the space of an average football field and the patient gets in gets fixed and out again. My old quack now has a full pre and anti-natal facility and added a Plastic Surgery (Boob) factory (as that makes more money for them) So as a PATIENT, I had to have Cartlidge surgery 12 years ago, went through the GP who sent me to a specialist who sent me 30 miles to a hospital who fixed it for me leaving me 2 trips back to the hospital for post op checks then sending me somewhere else to get a Physio. My mate had hsi done last week, all in the same "mini-community" hospital. I remember many years ago the complaints as the Cottage Hospitals all got closed down and the stories of Ambulances hurtling along country raods to A&E, in the name of Efficiency, and Big is good. Yet watching pure "Capitalist" elements at work, I now have 3 mini hospitals within 5 miles of me (as well as one major "State" one) and see that actually the Cottage or Community or Super GP route is actually the most efficient AND provides a far better service . Anyway the provision of health care by the state is Sacrosanct. I think there may well be better ways of providing it than "the old way". I have no idea if the proposals are any good and my thoughts on Lansley from the little I've seen of him on Sky is "Why is he in a Job at all?"
  19. Sort of inspired by that video of the Russkie plane the other day OK not gonna copy paste and upload all 30 of them but wow there are some classics in here. Thinking of booking #1 for my ex http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/picturegalleries/pictures-of-the-year/8224077/Pictures-of-the-year-2010-spectacular-crashes-and-daring-stunts.html Any other great photos you've come across of this crazy stunt genre?
  20. Will have to pop down to The Seaview for you. There's plenty of Dogs in there
  21. Also love his comments about the whole pitch invasion thing for the last game and the fans in general. Have just upgraded my reaction to a Really Good Decision
  22. OK, so what do you propose? He is contracted to the club for another year. Who do you think will buy him with his record? So to get rid of as many say we will have to pay his wages in full for a year. Or do we wait to see if we can get one or even 10 games out of him for the SAME money?
  23. He wasn't rubbing shoulders. They came to get some lessons from him. HTH
  24. So, all we need now to conquer the NPC is to improve our conversion ratio of shots to goals. Now where could we find a good shooting coach? But great stats show why we've enjoyed this season 24 times hitting the woodwork? Hell I reckon there must have been some PL seasons when we didn't even have that many shots!
