  1. Sorry no. Never liked that kit even when Keegan wore it. IMHO we go back to Red & White Stripes OR we stay with the Sash. Some of those mixed and match and messed up with black lines kits were NOT Red & White Stripes, so for once being pedantic, Stripes or stick for me. Oh and BTW we won't go back to full stripes anyway. If we are aiming for the PL we will need to go with that godawful full colour mess on the back like Stoke have. It was a UEFA rule I believe and we got away with it by an exemption for our history yadda yadda or something. We won't be able to pull the same stunt again. I've grown to like the Sash. I understand our historical attachment to stripes and want them back, BUT the Sash conveys something else and very important. It represents our new start, the moment when the BAD parts of our history went - a cleansing if you like. I'm pretty damned sure more people will notice us as we climb up to the CL in our Sash than they would confusing us with Sunderland & Stoke
  2. Donkeys years ago, went to one of those test Drive cars at Thruxton days. We had a briefing from Tiff and then whizzed round the course thinking we were nicki Lauda (OK not THAT long ago) After lunch they stuck us 4 at a time into an MG Montego Turbo and Tiff drove us round the course properly. One handed, chatting, explaining everything as he went. He was something over one minute faster than the best time posted all day with a full car on a "racing lap" Us in the car? We just screamed in terror all the way round. Top Bloke, great talent and one of us - cool
  3. How much is it worth not to analyse the chances of your other two?
  4. Watching the build up last night on Fox, if there is any "justice" in the world, then young Ishikawa of Japan deserves a top 5 slot. Last year he won $2mil, this year (as he's now a mature 19 years old) they reckon he could reach $4mil, and he's pledged every dollar of prize money to the Japanese Earthquake/Tsunami disaster fund. (Of course the cynic says that won't have hurt his endorsement income) Our Golf Soc have set up a sweepstake. You pick 3 groups based on start times as your "Team" and your best 4 players finishing scores are added up, lowest score wins the kitty.... Not that remarkable except - woo hoo first time I've gambled a tenner for 15 years! My picks Dustin Johnson, Adam Scott, Nick Watney Kaymer, W******d & Kuchar Bubba Watson, Paul Casey & Edoardo Molinari Out of those would pick Scott as an outside each way bet with his new putter. Fancy Casey for a top 10, really want Lee to win but still think Johnson But that Tiger bloke, watching him goof around bouncing the ball across the pond yesterady - "looks to be in a good place this year"
  5. So we up to a 6-a-side game yet? Gotta know. Flights to book, air miles to burn Crouchie's air hostess to stalk Hell this year even time off work to sort out How we doing Granty?
  6. Think it was "theres only one........." Alpine Saint
  7. They'll still be defending 'Arry as well if he finally gets busted.. After all nobody down there pays any taxes being on benefits and all, so they won't see it as an issue, more a role model
  8. It's that time of the year again, the course looks stunning in HD The weather is setting up nicely for the weekend More sub-plots than a Dan Brown novel Stupidly late nights for golf fans in some parts of the world coming up. Luke Donald I thought had the best chance of the Brits, but now he's right out of contention to win (silly sod won the Par 3 comp today - nobody has ever won both in the same year in a tournament that is built on it's history) Poulter has been awful all through the start of season, W******d isn't back to his consistent self yet, Has Tiger taken on board all my tips I gave him? Can Lefty break the habit of a lifetime and win two on the bounce? And was GMac a one trick pony. No idea but I'm gonna be glued to it all weekend apart from the Saints game Saturday. Highest European? Donald or Kaymer. Tiger to shock us by getting close and Dustin Johnson to be 3rd time lucky after 2 close calls.
  9. Making a profit is fine. The idea of any citizen born of the Souq NOT making a profit - lol. In fact a Sharia loan is about sharing any profit It is the earning or charging of INTEREST that is the issue. A bank in Qatar recently got into all kinds of pooh over this. HTH
  10. The only problem I have ever found in these situations is finding somewhere to rest your can of beer whilst perching on the end of a chair in the bedroom said a younger mate of mine once honest
  11. Even the big banks now offer Sharia compliant financial packages. Although of course in teh UK market actually getting one may be the problem. This is a great moral conundrum, Sharia compiant is effectively a profit share, in property you Brits are brainwashed over the years to think of house price gains so you see that and then get asked to share it.... although if you take mortgage interest costs (that never get added in to house price gains mentality) it isn't a bad deal Amusingly, in the housing boom down here, Islamic institutions offered Brit style Mortgages (as did many offer Sahria style) It comes down again to the edict from the man who shouts from the Minaret on a Fridaya sto how he interprets things, but as others have said, in this instance, money lending interest is haram
