  7. Cope seems on fine form today everyone trying to get the ball in Saints colours Cardiff would be a good team to beat of course if we could beat them but we are beating them so maybe we can beat them bless
  8. corner to Carduff
  9. Comes to nothing,goes wide
  10. dangerous free kick 20 yards out to Carduff
  11. Are any of them actually Italians any more?
  12. Listening to no commentary was probably marginally more interesting than watching the rugby..... Don't waste your last post yet, but the Guinness is good this evening
  13. Think we looked at this the wrong way round.... Hospitality- was it in a box or just in one of the "suites" 70 quid for "all you can drink" while Saints are playing - from about 1pm til about 5pm sounds like a far better way to spend the afternoon than actually having to watch the match (as according to many the football hasn't been worth watching anyway) Now that I reckon shows that people at the club clearly understand the pain we are in and wish to help do their bit to alleviate it Booze - the last resort of the depairing saints fans.... winky irony smiley thingy
  14. In a way we were, as a provincial PL club we still could not earn enough money from the Sky pot to "move forwards" and much of the discussion on here analysing why we never had the money or found the investment when we were on that side of the fence which of course led us to where we are now. Competition is critical, the "uber leftist" view that everything is equal except for the ruling clases is not what I believe should happen (ie it should not be all divided up equally for everybody) but as others have said, Football generates the MONEY and then other "parties" make sure they take it OUT of the game to spend on Bling, fast cars and the like. (and that's just the agents!) We have seen what happened when the Banks were allowed to "rule themselves" and in many ways I feel football is in the same state, salary caps, limits on debt, protection of young players from exploitation are all part of Platini's concepts for change, but of course they never get debated because everyone wants their piece of the pie. Which is fine until you run out of fillings for the pies maybe with the new economic reality hitting home the only people who CAN initiate the changes will vote - the fans - they get bored with the PL prima donnas and don't renew their subscriptions to Sky, and the disease the article referred to of falling attendances starts to hit the PL clubs where it hurts - in the pocket
  15. There are a number of things wrong with the forum these days, but there are also a number that are right. If you don't like a poster then just don't bother reading their stuff, but you shouldn't argue against their right to say what they like in public. For me the real downside is that like the sad demise of Navyred, there were intelligent posters on here who had stories to tell or interesting pieces of gossip that were relevant to us fans and helped us to understand some of what went on and some of the life of the club. Unfortunately their words got drowned by the more arrogant ITK'ers or the I know more than you so I am superior types who of course, insisted that everything was FACT rather than simply saying "I heard". Who in their right mind would post something they heard these days? As that decline set in, most of us in return then also retaliated, demanding, abusing and downright threatening them as liars or worse, demanding the "sauce" sic - so the wiser posters stopped the stories and this place became much the poorer because of it. So in reality the forum is poorer, you only have to see how many are online to understand that, but it also reflects a far greater level of intolerance on all sides as the life we live of being Saints fans becomes more and more depressing It isn't about the voicing of opinions being right or wrong, it isn't about the plants, it is simply about the intolerance shown to other posters. That could be censored, but then hey the entire world is like that these days. R E S P E C T sang Aretha, shame that word has faded from the language on here
  16. bstd got coffee sprayed on the monitor again :smt082
  17. We shouldn't be surprised at that comment. However much the club has TRIED to reduce costs this season they are still at the mercy of the Bank At the end of the day with SO many clubs in trouble, it is time that the Football League, Government AND banks take a step back and rethink. It is all well and good to punish stupid excesses across the board in football, but with the core of the game in trouble, money pouring into agents and players bank balances in the PL like they are bankers, then at least the League and banks SHOULD work together to give clubs the TIME they need to restructure. Also salary caps in ALL the leagues would be a good start Perhaps we are protesting in the wrong directions, fans everywhere should start to look at the bigger picture, survival of the fittest is fine, but when the healthy go down with the weak, things must be wrong
  18. Well there's another set of myths dispelled/questions to be asked He paid for a shirt so he must be on a fair wedge then!!! So we COULD have kept NP after all!!!!! He only NOW gets a shirt for his son!!! Did he try and get a staff discount and force us into admin earlier? St Chalet is THE worst kind of ITK uber fan - he states he has "secret information" he tells us his "sauce" then ensures he's better than all of us by ........ NOT TELLING US THE SECRET INFORMATION!!! Shouldn't Wotte have been spending his time planning the demise of the evil sheep thingiers? He is only HOPING for a win? Everyone Out!
  19. Today wrecked - John Legend in concert last night with corporate hostility and all the champagne I could drink until they ran out then triple vodkas. Have no idea if the gig was any good or not as only memory of it is on my camera Tomorrow watch rugby and stay off the online commentary as usual Sunday is way too far away to think about right now... But NEXT weekend - oh boy - that's gonna be a cracker - spare emergency liver donations welcome the Rugby 7's World Cup hic
  20. It was a little optimistic trying to start a football thread, but then you added the comedy sing along moment which means this will of course get hijacked:o Meanwhile where are those that had a funny feeling before last weekend's game - could do with more of that!
  21. Read the link provided and you see the answer is yes to both, but nobody can moralise on a fans forum at a time like this about the merits of lifestyle choices.
  22. Very very sad story, which should be read by anyone considering trekking in that part of the world and may hopefully save some other poor souls in the future
  23. I have been saying since before the time that Crouch launched his pre-emptive coup to gain control that they either work together or go. Unlike some I do not sway my opnion based on what a Stanley or a Luvvie may preach, simply that "the 3 amigos" (ie majority shareholders/proxies) must be all in or all out. Realistically until they are made gone by somebody who buys them out, that means they HAVE to work together. Never changed that stance And what I ADD to that is when I say all OUT that means EVERY single hanger-on, who has held a position of influence and has preached AT us for one side OR the other OR has failed to deliver on promises. Because not ONE of them has been able to get us OUT of this mess! THAT list is a hell of a lot longer than one name.........
  24. Yawn Better to simply say - come the revolution anybody who in the past 6 years has occupied a regular seat in the Directors OR ex Directors Box should be lined up in the stocks outside the ground, from where, stealing from Connors idea, we can make our feelings known by using the (by then extremely dead) floral tributes, wreaths and any other rotten vegetables we can find. Mind you the list is quite long so maybe we should string them up along Brittania Road in a sort of Spartacus manner
