http://archive.thisishampshire.net/2005/11/30/96427.html 2005 article, but can anyone paraphrase the story in the Echo?
-
yep any link guys? nothing in today's news here so no idea what this is about? Oh and if it is about Dubai - quality geography from the Echo online banner - saying FAR East
-
Like we needed another thread on this on top of this mornings one Nick :-) As I've said before, Wotte is here, while he is here we HAVE to get behind the team and give 100% and stay in this league. The mess can get sorted out at the end of the year. At least there is now sense being spoken, not just rhetoric. If one of Lowe's biggest detractors says that is what we have to do, if it is also what our legends say we have to do, then fair enough
-
Careful, You know that talking sense on here will label you as a luvvie (but I agree, MLT, Benali AND Leon all said much the same)
-
But he ALSO says avoiding relegation should be the focus of EVERYONE at this time and the "other stuff" should be sorted out at the end of the season. Focus on the priority - staying up = first truly sensible comment I have seen from him for a while IMHO

WGS. Has taken Celtic as far as anyone can Has a home down here Has unfinished business IF he could be re-motivated Has a contract up for renewal in the summer

Actually, this whole protest thing could be solved in about 30 seconds. The majority of fans want Lowe out A fair proportion of fans want a valid alternative in place (the famed plan B), but are then split between playing Titanic deckchairs again with Crouch et al or seeking some other route. One simple way to take the sting out of ALL of this is for Lowe & Wilde to make a short and simple RE-STATEMENT of what they said at the beginning of the season, but which our conspiracy theories prefer to ignore. Namely that they WILL sell at a fair price when they receive an offer that secures the survival of the club including a business plan that has sufficient funding to keep us in action. Anything else doesn't solve the simple fact that it takes more money to run a CCC team with a big stadium than we can earn. (Oh and before anyone asks - those words HAVE been put in print on the OS and others way back when) All it needs is the money to keep the club going and we are rid of the LOT of them. (yeah right as if we're gonna find it but hey - you know)

Peace breaks out between Saints & Pompey !

8-1 to Skates?????!!!! YOOF OUT -
We used to have pancakes on Fridays. That was when we used to go for the all day brunch at the lodge and we sort of had them after the full English but before the Roast Beef & Yorkshire Pudding. Tuesdays are always good, many people from overseas think of them as better than their Fridays in that it is always Ladies Night. This means that in most establishments ladies drink free, so the town is full of bars full of drunk ladies. But rumours abound of a bail out of Dubai by Abu Dhabi this week, this could prove difficult as Abu Dhabi don't really do the whole Tuesday thing, and worse they like to close all the bars during Ramadan, rather than just stopping entertainment. If THAT happens then our Thursdays AND Fridays will be cancelled for a whole month. HTH ps I would NEVER eat a Crepe. They are French. Living in a country where you are a racial minority, it is always odd and one has a different view on isms than in good old PC Blighty. But unfortunately I have to admit to being exceptionally Frenchist - unless it is Chateau Neuf Du Pape of course
-
My word, pancakes - haven't had one of them on the proper Tuesday for 15 years now... Yikes
-
Gordon Brown in talks at Southampton OMG that has to be the ONLY way getting rid of Lowe gets worse Damn didn't see us being nationalised as an option (Oh maybe I should have read the article first)

Why didn't Wotte speak up earlier in the season?
dubai_phil replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
Is he? - sauce? :-) I prefer his own version... from his interview last week (and I paraphrase slightly) "He is a rubbish manager..... until results prove otherwise" And while he would not have been my choice, he is what we have until something changes at the top and so I TRULY hope that he proves himself wrong during the time he is with us -
Was down the pub last night for the boys talk sh*t night. The local satellite has a "Premier League on Monday show" with the current week's guest presenter in town (in this case Ian Rush) And low and behold there on the Premier League show was Saga scoring his goals... Crackers they were too and nice to see we FINALLY got talked about on a real footie show over here Same again next week please

Maybe.........

18 miles to airport 3,459 miles to Heathrow (approx) 80 miles to Southampton Then back again And no where NEAR enough times a season even these days
-
TBH FC, it is only the opinions expressed regularly by us on on here that believes that the Board have NOT been looking for funds. We all assume that they have sat there and done nothing simply because it is an ego trip for the Directors. Like much else we have no idea of knowing if it is just urban legend now or whether they may have been exploring other avenues or even IF such avenues exist. I for one have been sceptical on here that those avenues exist in today's climate, but who knows, for all we know maybe in real life Salz & Lowe are best buddies (yeah right) but we speculate on so much and in reality these days we get so few snippets. The proof will be when they need/expect the revenue from Season Ticket sales.

A series of events and results and it just seemed as if we had reached a nadir. Personally I ran out of hope, certainly did not move to "the Dark Side" but just didn't see it turning around. I suppose I gave up. Then Saturday came along.... And that small glimmer of Hope is back. In some ways not sure which is worse
-
The only issue with this assumption is that it needs one other assumption in order to be the case. That SECOND assumption is that we will survive as a trading entity UNTIL the summer window opens. Now, I don't have recent experience of how British Bank Managers work, but in the current environment, I really cannot see how anyone in a corporate banking division would be looking at what we here would term "insh'allah" strategies of "hopefully" adding 400 extra full price paying customers to the attendance instead of simply "what were last week's figures". IMHO I just think that we have a lump of cash flow left which is diminishing and that we are in a total catch-22 situation, bust if we play them and down if we don't. (And just for Alps!) THAT we could have reached that point financially as much as the "playing side" failure of the club casts it's own clear verdict on the return of Lowe
-
Yep Unfortunately though, the world (was) ruled by accountants who looked at bottom lines in accounts ie they viewed history, not creators or visionaries who looked at how the bottom line could be made better. You don't have to look at us to see how wrong that model could have been, but you find it everywhere unfortunately. My worry now is how much faster we run out of cash to trade because they are playing - a double edged sword may now exist, we can't afford NOT to play them and get results but we can't afford TO play them as we don't have enough cash flow. Chicken and egg, and still need investment... Personally I think we should be playing them as while their is life there is hope. As I think once we are certainties to go down, ain't anyone (even Leon) who would see any way back for any more money poured into the bottomless pit
-
Strange shortage of post match reactions today though. Only a few reports from the game and still only 141 posts in the thread. We did win a game at home yesterday, perhaps it is the shock
-
In answer to the OP We won and scored 3 goals. So in answer NO FOOKIN WAY. We have chopped and changed the team every week and look what it got us. Sure have a wide player on the bench and if needed change things during the game, but the concept of having a settled side with players knowing what to do has become alien of late. Many have pointed out for most of this season that our fullbacks never seemed to work with the midfield players to overlap in the way that Bridge & Marsden did to such effect, yet yesterdays reports seem to suggest that both FB's got up and down the line very well and caused problems. Our "wingers" are our FB's at the moment so the system worked yesterday why oh why even consider questioing it, especially as it was so obvious even to me at the few games I have been to this last 12 months

Why didn't Wotte speak up earlier in the season?
dubai_phil replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
Maybe a whole bunch of them spoke up. Wotte - seems to have had a public falling out with JP and some of the players and seems to have been having a dig at the previous regime's training methods in between the digs at the fans that we got all worked up about Hockaday & Webster - where are they now and why? Wotton - carted off to Brighton for a couple of weeks heck, even Leon seems to have had a go with his "Brit manager lined up" But then maybe not as we don't know what goes on day to day. -
Good call chaps Now whatever it was you did to get that good feeling before today - can you PLEASE do the same for next week
-
http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/4143787.Wotte_lifts_lid_on_Saints_changes/ Well, we were surprised but let's face it, he did point out some things were not right with the way the old regime organised training and he did say he'd changed it around Swallows and summer and all that but we need at least 6 more like this before the end of the season to stay up
