    "In" Words

Tell him his policies are sick.
  2. At Villa Park I seem to remember. Was that also the game he was awarded Pompey Player of the Season award or am I going mad? Not a player, but I was really hacked off when we appointed Strachan as I'd always hated him. Hammond made me eat a slice of pie with his performances at the end of last season.
  3. dune has been strangely quiet on this subject so far considering he normally seems to relish any sort of debate concerning his beloved Dave.
  4. That was a ridiculous goal in a ridiculous game.
  5. Thought the same when I went into town yesterday for the first time in weeks. My 2 year old was enjoying booting empty drink cans around Above Bar, I think he'll be disappointed once it's all cleaned up.
  6. HUgh Grant is giving his best ever screen performance on Question Time right now.
  7. Most likely it was due to silent threats from News International about what information they could print about the Met unless they hushed it all up.
  8. They need to do a bit of work on the nicknames: Chambers = Chambo Reed = Reedo Ward-Prowse = Prowsey Gape = Gapey Sinclair = Sincy Sort it out lads, at least try and be a bit original!
  9. I wonder just how many phones Mulcaire hacked? I'd imagine that if I was in his position I would have just started hacking everyone. Does the Queen have a mobile? It would be hilarious if he'd been hacking Rebekah Brooks' and Rupert Murdoch's phones just because he could.
  10. Duffield is a legend. An old flatmate of mine would quite happily sit there watching the live Eurosport coverage with me despite the fact he had no interest in the race just for Dave's commentary.
  11. Wow, what a finish from Cavendish. That's got to be up there with his best ever Tour wins considering he had no lead out whatsoever. Brilliant stuff.
  12. That'll teach me to turn over as soon as the stage finished because my son was complaining he was missing his programmes! I'm sure I heard the commentator say Wiggins was in the front group too. Very suprised Andy Schlek lost time today.
  13. Saw Brian Wilson twice at Royal Festival Hall. First time doing Pet Sounds, second time Smile. Both gigs had mind blowing moments, the Pet Sounds one was particularly incredible. Also saw the Funk Brothers (the original Mowtown session musicians) at the same venue whiich was probably the most fun concert I have been to. Sadly I missed the Sex Pistols play at the Phoenix Festival because, well because I was too hammered somewhere else to bother going. Same with Radiohead in what was apparently one of their best ever gigs at Glastonbury in 97, but that was more due to the mud. Seen a few other Legends at festivals. Jimmy Cliff, Lee Scratch Perry, George Clinton & Parliament/Funkadelic and Chuck Berry (I did quite enjoy singing "Pompey Fan On A String" under my breath to "My Ding A Ling"). Oh and Chas & Dave, and John Peel djing.
  14. Fair play to Hushvold for getting up that climb with the leaders. Not sure why Contador bothered attacking as the climb wasn't steep or long enough for him to gain any time on the GC contenders. Strong finish from Evans to nick it on the line. 3 Brits in the overall Top 10. Has this ever happened before?
  15. I've watched the majority of 2 of England's games. They were awful in the first match against Mexico but much better today. There are some decent players in the women's game and England have a few of them. I do find it very frustrating to watch due to the wild inconsistency in the quality of the players in the team and the frankly awful and naive decisions that are made when in possession. Mind you a lot of them are only part time players so it's fairly forgivable. Still, none of the play is quite as bad as the standard of refereeing which is at times both farcical and ludicrous.

  17. In an interview a few months ago Max Clifford said he thought phone hacking was "rife" in Fleet Street http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-12298187 I'm now waiting for the day the Daily Mail get drawn into this somehow.
  18. Looking forward to seeing some of them in the pre-season games. I like the fact 11 of them are local lads too.
  19. Weird finish today. It looked like HTC had it sown up for Cavendish, but then their train split and Garmin timed it perfectly. Nice to see Thomas having a go at jumping off the front to try and grab yellow. I'd imagine the leaders jersey will change hands tomorrow with Millar having a real chance of getting it if he can stay up front on the final little climb.
  20. Good article written by my friend Mark there. Such a pity he was injured. Loved his style of play. So classy and comfortable on the ball which, Matty aside, was quite rare for Saints at that time.
  21. myp2p.eu will have some links. I normally watch all the fights online but will be paying for this as I don't want to run the risk of losing the stream at a crucial moment.
  22. Murray's ballsed this up from a good position. He had Nadal a bit flustered until missing an easy smash in the middle of the second set which would have given him 2 break points. I don't quite get the hate for Murray. The whole wanting England to lose thing was no different to the Adkins Brighton comment. A tongue in cheek throwaway remark. And even if he did mean it, so what? How many English people ever want Scotland to win?
  23. Bad example. Danny Williams was British champion in 2000. He's quite famous. Chris Byrd was one of the World Heavyweight Champions. He's not very famous. I bet there's loads of Boxing World Title holders at the moment that you haven't heard of. However I bet you know who Henry Cooper, Spencer Oliver, Gary Mason and Matthew Hatton are. None of whom ever won a world belt. If Murray never wins a grand slam then he'll still be remembered as a great player, just one unfortunate to be playing at a time when the 2 best players ever have been hoovering up pretty much all the big titles.
  24. Looks like we're in agreement there!
