  1. Last year people sat where their tickets were issued (well me and my mate did anyway!) but can't imagine we'll get too near to selling out our allocation this time so I imagine there will be a bit of room for people to move around and go where they like. I've got two tickets already and another mate of mine is making a late decision on coming so I hope that'll be the case so the three of us can stand together anyway.
  2. Accrington's pitch in League 2 was pretty appalling too!
  3. I thought it was pretty decent today. Bit too much of the moaning and groaning at 1-1 but otherwise good.
  4. Some of the comments on that link are utterly comical. Nutters.
  5. I'd play Vince ahead of Lumb in the four day stuff every time. It's quite hard to work out our team really because of the IPL and injuries. As you mention above our first choice bowling attack is very injury prone so I expect that if fit they will be rotated quite a lot. Read an interview with Jones recently where he said he was aiming to play around 8-10 Championship games this summer. Probably can't expect too much else from Ali either really and Cork is probably too old to play every game now. I guess it's quite likely that these two will just rotate in and out of the side where possible. Adams would probably be the sensible choice for captaincy as he plays in all forms of the game and doesn't have the question marks surrounding his availability like Cork, Mascarenhas (I've heard he could be finished) and Pothas do. McKenzie would be another option but wouldn't be very long-term.
  6. Got tickets for this one last week. Looking forward to it, should be a good one!
  7. Yeh I was in 43 and the people around me were saying similar things about them. The funny thing is that most of the people in 43 wouldn't have been at the Man United game anyway as I believe it was only opened up for ticket sales yesterday! Usually sit in 38 but didn't get my ticket until an hour or so before kick off. One of the main ring-leaders in the singing missed the goal and left a couple of minutes before the end. Classic. Maybe Season Tickets should come with a free medal so all of us lowly non-ST holders can bow down to them next time we dare go to a home game...?
  8. Bang on. Handful of mongs in Block 42 giving stick to Saints fans in 43 today. Pathetic ******s.
  9. Yes, we were.
  10. Just bought that amongst a load of others. Looking forward to reading that. Just finished 1984 by George Orwell, really enjoyed it. Don't know why I didn't get round to looking at it years ago! Also just finished 'The End of the Party-The Rise and Fall of New Labour' by Andrew Rawnsley. Fascinating account of the Labour governments from 2001 to 2010.
  11. You can still get the tickets for this online.
  12. Ha, another Stewart Lee fan. Just came on this thread to post this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGAOCVwLrXo
  13. Well I have a red brick University degree but it has yet to benefit me so far, got another rejection for an internship today! I'm sure I'll be ok in the long run, it's just frustrating waiting for that first break at the moment. I do think that doing a degree should be more than just for the sake of a well-paid job at the end of it though. There is merit to studying the arts and social sciences and I really enjoyed my time at University and the studying involved. Wouldn't change it for anything else. Like Shandy_Top, my sciences and to a lesser extent my maths were never good enough to do some of the courses that BadgerBadger mentions (although my dad wanted me to do law)! I also would have found all of them tediously boring! Although most chemistry (and other sciences) graduates I know struggle for employment too and the majority I know have ended up doing further study with either a Masters or working towards a PhD.
  14. I finished University in June and graduated in July (got a 2.1 in History and Politics from University of Sheffield) and bar a couple of days a week in my dad's office during the summer (finished that in September) and the odd bar shift at my cricket club, I haven't worked since. A lot of mates I graduated with are struggling too and most of the ones who are working are doing things like bar work or working in shops to keep themselves going. There really isn't a lot out there at the moment, hopefully have a couple of things lined up in the near future though.
  15. I think Tremlett leaving was more a case of needing a change to revitalise his career though. His last couple of seasons at Hampshire were pretty poor statistically (although when I saw him he often bowled ok) and he had fallen well down the England pecking order (despite doing well when previously playing for them!). At the time I was disappointed to see him go as he was a Hampshire product who had done well for us but I just got the impression that things had got a little stale at Hampshire and he was coasting a bit. In regards to Ervine, it's Myburgh's signing that is more likely to block younger players, Dawson specifically as he bowls part-time spin as well. I guess Hampshire originally signed him to cover for Ervine's likely departure. We've got a big squad but have lots of injury doubts and people like Lumb at the IPL at the start of the season. Cork missed the start of last season because he was commentating on it, no idea if he's planning to do that this year though. I expect there will be a lot of rotation of the seam bowlers so I'm sure Wood and Riazuddin will get games, especially in the one day stuff. By the law of averages I'm sure a couple of others will pick up injuries throughout the season too!
  16. Ervine's reversed his decision! http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/8813577.Ervine_to_stay_at_Hants/ Great news!
  17. Yeah they are. Still available online.

  19. Lumb will be at the IPL too and White is talking about resting Adams because of his winter commitments. Not too sure if Pothas will be fit either.
  20. Should sign him as our second overseas player for the Twenty20s.
  21. Quashie was pretty decent for us, don't see what's so funny about that signing. Bit of a knob by all accounts though. He seemed to think he was a play-maker when we got relegated, started taking penalties, free kicks and corners which was a little odd! Olivier Bernard was probably the worst signing of that window (if Davenport had played more, would probably be him), although I'm pretty sure he was a free transfer.
  22. Having the same problem myself at the moment. I'm 22 and passed my test about a month ago and have been browsing around a bit for cars and getting insurance quotes here and there. Lowest I've come across tends to be around the £3,000 mark with some as high as £7/8,000 or so which I can't afford to pay, even with help from parents. My dad tried to get me insured on his car as a named driver but his insurance company didn't allow me to be insured on it because I passed my test within the last twelve months. By that logic, I could not drive at all for a year, phone them up and then they'll insure me on it...
  23. Suggests that what I've heard about Mascarenhas and Ali (both not expected to play much this year, if ever again) is true.
  24. Watched the game from the Dagenham terrace, most of the Dagenham fans were just delighted to be playing us and raving about Lallana and Chamberlain. They were a decent bunch overall really. Decent performance from Saints and fully deserved the win. Dominated the first half but bar a one on one from Lambert (which he would have buried last season) we didn't create too many clear cut chances. Lost our way a bit when it went 2-0 and at 2-1 we looked very shaky. All the Dagenham fans thought they should have had a penalty (didn't see much in it myself) and thought a free kick that came off the bar had crossed the line. Wasn't too sure myself but the linesman was in a perfect position and I think I can trust his judegment ahead of the Dagenham fans!
