It's fuuny how the police only investigate a Labour government, but not this corrupt tory one or Prince Charles mate. -

Well maybe that's what he was alluding too, you know having a sense of humour. Anyway the politically motivated police complaint led to no charges, so there wasn't anything in it. It did lead to though, the tory party admitting that they also borrowed money off wealthy supporters. -

What's your point, what only Tories can earn big money? -
So soon it'll be Gerrard's Villa v Lampard's Norwich, ffs.

But the Harv post wasn't a sweeping generalisation, he backed up his view, but you chose to cut that bit off.

I think banning second jobs isn't needed, they should be contractually obliged to undertake x amount of hours a year as an MP and be available to local constituencies, unlike the legal luvvy Geoffrey Cox. No wonder he's hiding in the caribbean, he embarrassed himself during Brexit. -
I've moaned about this before, but it gets my goat. Waiting at a box junction for the lane ahead to clear. It starts to clear and the cunt waiting in the lane next to you crosses over and nicks your space. Then if they are a double cunt they hold you up later on, as they try to get back into their original lane.

I see he couldn't make the Paterson debacle debate because he was catching a train back from this hospital trip. Unlike the dash back from Cop26 on a private jet so he could attend a Telegraph party at the Garrick Club. -

The health bill could be deducted from future benefits, state pension, tax relief etc.

We would never do this here https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/nov/09/singapore-to-start-charging-covid-patients-who-are-unvaccinated-by-choice?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other but an interesting approach.

Wow the irony.

3) should be - a border between Ireland and Northern Ireland is incompatible with the peace process. and 2) should add - that a border can not be inserted between two areas of a single sovereign state. The borders are a massive symbolic issue in NI.

Are you sure, I distinctively remember border checkpoints in the 1980's. It was the GFA and the peace process that got rid of the visible border.

cUnacceptable inconsistency and appalling standard of referees
Fan The Flames replied to cambsaint's topic in The Saints
I went to Gillingham yesterday, you think the level of refereeing is bad in the prem, it's totally shit in the lower levels. The ref roamed around the centre circle like a fat PE teacher and missed so much, pulled back play late when the advantage was on, gave completely unfathomable decisions. Medways finest let the ref know what they thought with a long chorus of 'the referee's a cunt'. -

I don't think he's been thrown under the bus, more like the tories realise that his position was unsavable. Chris Byrant came on the offensive this morning and put up a robust defence of the process that rebuffed all of Patersons claims. This wasn't going to go away, if they carried on shielding him the more sleazier it was going to look. And it already looked very sleazy, the stat doing the rounds that all 22 tory MPs who had been investigated by the standards commissioner had voted for the ammendment tells it's own story. The tories not only conflated changes to the process and the outcome of this case, but also conflated the tragic death of his wife and the case, feeling that the old boy had suffered enough. Unfortunately due process doesn't work that way, not even natural justice. -
Whohooo something bad hasn't happened.

It was the strength of the headline that was so telling. Surely the government could have forseen how this would look. It's fine to try and change the system, but to mix that up with getting a chum off the hook was totally wrong. From what I've read Paterson hasn't got a leg to stand on -

Very strong headline from The Mail, could be significant. Boris risked his reputation by sticking by Cummings and is making the same mistake again. -

This is the independent commissioner that cited Boris for his free holiday and his free apartment refurb. No wonder he led the charge against her. -
There's a difference between not being able to deal with tough times and having a mental illness. But some people's brains are wired so that a tough time can have more of an impact on them, than it would others and actually cause mental illness. My wife is a worrier and I care a lot less, she says she would love to care less but can't. Although she has got a lot better over the years and I think I keep her on the straight and narrow. Our brains are all wired differently, I'm good at coping with most things and remain positive. But I'm shit at the family finances, I would ignore bills, blow money on rubbish, bury my head. Whereas my wife is good and keeps me on the staight and narrow. I think my point here is that mental illness is whole different ball game to resilience to life. But even with resilience, we are all different, just like its no use saying to my wife 'don't worry' she just can't help the way her brain is wired, others can't help how the way they are wired to respond to a tough times.

The inventor of CBT, Aaron Beck, died today. He worked all his career to tackle anxiety and depression and I'm sure many on here have benefited from his work. I've been fortunate to have good mental health all my life, barring the numerous stressfull work periods, but I have a sister who has been sectioned a number of times. Her battle with mental health issues has put great stress on the family at times. So I sympathise with any family going through it, as there is no quick fix. The best advise is the same as for most things, be kind to each other, which is sometimes difficult in the middle of the storm.
