The womens football thread made me have a little loogle about the various Southampton teams. We were the first city to hold the mens and womens FA Cups at the same time.
-
Do we still hold the record for most FA cup wins, is it the same Southampton womens team?

I don't follow racist chanting enough to give you exact examples, I hope that's alright. Wgat I will say is, whilst there has been a progressive direction of travel for a while you can't deny that the momentum has gathered pace and the knee is part of that. Whether it cause the momentum shift or just reflects it who knows, who cares. I also don't care that some people don't like the knee, so fuckin what, it doesn't do them any harm. There is plenty of stuff that winds me up but I don't demand that people don't do it. Big planet, lots of people who think and do differently, people have to get over themselves.

I meant 'why wouldn't they?'

Of course they will, wouldn't they?

Classy. When you start going on about only thinking what you're told to by the media you are now sitting on the sofa and sharing a tube of pringles with the conspiracy nutters. FIFA had monitors at the game as they deemed it a high risk game, as reported the other day https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/sportsnews/article-9947633/Englands-World-Cup-qualifier-Hungary-red-list-high-risk-racist-abuse.html

Carl Anka - Summer 2017 contender for worst transfer window
Fan The Flames replied to Saint86's topic in The Saints
Or when the owners changed or when covid dented the income, maybe. Les's legacy has left us with little headroom in the transfer market, that's all and it's being worked through. We are as far away from financial as a top flight club with our sort of owner can be. -

Bad players in hindsight only. Hoedt wasn't a squad player, he played most of the prior season for 5th place Lazio, you know higher placed than Southampton. He played in only a couple of losing games and the fee was consistent with other fees paid at the time. If you think Lemina could have made it then you have to think that Boufal could have, bags more talent. Gunn was succession planning and FF was put on a long contract to keep the asset value up. The club obviously didn't appreciate his fall in form. Elynoussi won't come good. -

I'm the same, the pompey goal is forever. But it doesn't change the fact that he left a bit too quickly for me and was a bit off last season. I really hope that the goal the otherday is the one pearl in a shit season and that Armstrong can keep up with him.

That glovesman in nets wasn't the cat he was, but still not a bad goal minder. -

Gunn was a punt. He was on Man Citys books, an ever present and decent season on loan to Norwich. His star was rising and we didn't want to lose out. It also gave us the opportunity to cash in on a FF and make some wedge. FFs form dipped and AG rising star spluttered. In a way it serves us right for looking at players for what they can do for the club financially rather than footballistically. -

Bad signings, or were we just unlucky. Hoedt, Lemina and Boufal all had a decent pedigree and exactly the profile of the type of player that can step up and be an asset. Hoedt turned out to be average with a tricky attitude, Boufal has spades of talent but it turns out he had little end product and Lemina could have been alright if he wasn't such a dick. Gunn and Elyounoussi were long shots, that didn't come off, all clubs take these gambles. Carillo had no real pedigree, so no excuses. So on paper the big flops seemed decent buys, the fact that they didn't come off nor did the long shots or the desperation buy, and all in such a concentrated period of time is what really screwed us up. A club of our size can't carry that. -
I knew you would come around in the end.

Double jeopardy, as in you don't get sent off as well, only counts for tackles where the player makes a genuine attempt to get the ball. Denying a goal scoring opportunity is an early bath.

Safe standing: Saints’ big chance to create an ‘end’
Fan The Flames replied to Daft Kerplunk's topic in The Saints
Being from out of town I rarely went to the Dell as tickets were so hard to get when the capacity dropped, so I really wasn't aware what ends were what at the Dell. So when St Marys was opening I wanted a ST for the first season, I came down to the booth they had in the Dell car park and the sales person said that the Northam Stand was going to be the signing end. This might not have been the original design but it was certainly the case prior to SMS opening. -

I'll pay extra as long as the rail has a little nut caddy, big gulp holder and foam hand hooks. -
There are a lot of companies in this market now. The tech company we use is really busy doing digital menus for a couple of massive high street brands. They started out as a data cabling company who saw the growth and jumped in. We (NHS Trust) have bought a few interactive screens from them over the past year and we are buying some more at the moment.

How many more dead threads is Dr Who going to resurrect ?

It's enjoyable, its like your favourite house improvement show that is fizzling out, doing a series of revisits to remind you why you committed 10 years of Thursday nights to it. It's nice to see the golden age with all the good posters that don't post anymore. The time before the culture wars, I don't think anyone was on ignore in those days.
