  1. I think he also played a role in making Lallana up his game.
  2. Yep I mixed Chambers up with Targett.
  3. Edit doh, confused Chambers with Targett
  4. Apparently if he puts in a transfer request we dont have to pay him loyalty bonuses or the remaining two thirds of his signing on fee. If we save money that way we won't need to make as much on the transfer, so it might bridge the gap between what we want and what Liverpool want to pay.
  5. How so? Getting a newly promoted team to 2nd is a heck of an achievement even if you have money to spend.
  6. Was sacked from Monaco a couple of weeks ago after, on the face of it, an amazingly successful two years - getting them promoted and then to second in the French PL. Odd
  7. I read that article. A couple of others were talking about how the power now rests almost entirely with the players to the extent that dominant managers laying down the law and throwing teacups doesnt work anymore. Selling a project and cajoling co-operation is whats expected.
  8. I'd happily take Koeman, Pelle and their strip from Feyenoord.
  9. Many thanks Doc. Interesting.
  10. Does being obtuse give you some kind of thrill? Its all speculation. If you want to pretend that the speculated £25m figure you choose to believe in is 'fact' and the speculated lower £15m plus add ons is made up rubbish thats fine.
  11. That same page has Borussia playing Hull on the 15th July and Everton on 22nd July. Could be total ******** but it does have some progression of difficulty sense to it from their point of view
  12. The cash element appears to be c£15m with rest made up in add-ons which are highly unlikely to ever materialise.
  13. Hard to know whats best for Saints. If Lallana has a storming WC his value will rise and other clubs may come in for him. If he's gack Liverpool might pull out - so we get to keep him, but he might be sullen, resentful and more like the player from three years ago as opposed to last season.
  14. Doing quite well with the Latvia national team last time I looked.
  15. Thats wistful rubbish sorry. Pochettino was jobless for three months after putting Espanyol in to freefall, no-one else wanted him. Its a myth about selling, they bought in as much as they sold. Pochettino's succesor took them back up to midtable within a couple of months. He turned out fine for us, but lets not pretend we signed the prodigal son.
  16. Given the fact that we employed Gray, Wigley and Sturrock as manager when in the PL and Pochettino got the boot from Espanyol with them at the bottom of the table, I'm mystified how people can say CL managers Koeman or Rangnick aren't good enough
  17. Just like Alpine did last year. hmm more evidence
  18. ?? Schalke, Stuttgart and Hanover are all bigger than Saints. He was knackered, took time out (like many managers do) and now hes back on the market.
  19. I know him very slightly! My university flatmate studied astrophysics with him. Didnt even know he was interested in football

  22. £1m for growing a full beard.
  23. Yeah of course the best way to make a manager feel valued is to look for his replacement whilst talking to him.
  24. Don't worry about it. When he's shown up he pretends he meant something different. Got the spine of a mollusc.
  25. Its been a week
