In this table from last season the average age of the top 45 strikers in the PL was just under 27 and the oldest were 31. Lambert is now 32. Thats hard even when you're playing with a younger partner who does the running and drawing defenders out of position. As a lone striker its practically mission impossible. http://bitterandblue.sbnation.com/2013/7/9/4505458/the-top-45-strikers-in-the-pl-the-averages

Ukraine is only one third of the population of Russia and is almost bankrupt, there is no way they can win militarily. The Crimea is ethnically about 50% Russian and Putin can take it and hold it. I guess he has calculated it will win him support at home and that sanctions wont hurt Russia much because they essentially export commodities like oil and gas - and someone will always pay the market rate for those. It will make Russia much more isolated again though - maybe that also suits his agenda.

He's questioning your ability to gauge an individual's motivation accurately. Rightly imo.

How come Deano hasnt got "New York" in 306 point type across the centre? -
I think Pap should grill you for a year asking what pubs you can buy a nicked ipad in and wanting you to post up images of Aunty's funeral.

So according to you the reason people so many millions off ordinary working people who want to buy a house but cant afford to is because they are feckless ice cream eaters and trainer wearers? People who already own houses are often groundlessly smug - as if it was something smart they did as opposed to being fortunate to be born at the right time. I first wanted buy in in 1986 but couldn't because of the stupidly high prices brought about by the Lawson boom so I spent my deposit money on travelling, motorbikes and KFC. Luckily Lawson crashed the economy so badly that by 1995 I was able to buy a three bed place for £61,000 - half what it would have been at the peak. I used a 95% mortgage and 5% deposit on credit card. Last year it sold for £390,000, nearly 6.5 times its cost in 1995. In the same period wages less than doubled. Like you I'm sitting pretty on equity despite, like you, having done nothing to earn it. Since you are 'Old' Nick lets assume you bought your place around 1975 when the average house price was around £10,000, 3.5 times the average wage - about 30% less than now. You would have additionally benefited from a government tax handout in the form of MIRAS to further reduce your housing spend to about half what it would now cost somebody to buy the same house. Seems to me you're the one who wasted too much on ice cream. Successive governments have screwed young people in this country by overseeing high levels of immigration and not building the housing needed to match need. Compounding that by blaming young people for the consequences of government policy and resisting the building of new homes in order to protect the countryside whilst sitting in their detached house itself built on greenfields is the height of hypocrisy.

I'd lose the two dogs, wife, baby, two parents and chicken. The secretary and coffee can stay. -

best leave the incontinent dog out of it though. They're up north remember, not liberal south east. -
Its not. Some people just have intractable problems that cant be solved. You couldn't set up a more deadly combination than a fear of food and fear of social situations (ie avoidance of helping agencies) and a wish to be independent (spurning help from family). The main choices are detaining people against their will in institutions and forcing drugs / food / hygiene on them or providing a system of community care which inevitably means people who dont want to / cant eat / wash / pay the rent / utilities / council tax will sometimes spurn help and fall through the net. Do vulnerable people have the right to refuse / not seek help or not?
-
There is also an issue with the expectation the state will solve all the problems and someone is to blame if they dont. Maybe there were some misjudgments or mistakes but this man had parents and at least one sibling, and they are blaming the state for him starving to death. They sent him some money but didnt visit?

Google it Bazza. Im not your secretary. Do you dispute that a wealthy person would rather not be surrounded by poverty, at risk of having their Rolex snatched or car scratched, house burgled, open sewers etc, -

There is also a lot of evidence that wealthy people relocate to those countries / cities where there is less obvious poverty, low crime, strong justice system, low corruption etc - and those are features of a more not less equal society. -
It was a typo. He meant chase me.

Bit pointless making flaws in national policy into a personalised ding dong imo. It basically boils down to the fact that once you've got a house its easier and cheaper for you to get a second mortgage for a buy to let than it is for a younger person struggling to get the deposit for their first place. BTL was a tiny part of the market 20 years ago and now literally millions of people are using housing as an investment. Its distorting the market - driving up prices and reducing access, home ownership is now falling substantially. You cant blame individuals for what is for them a logical decision. The government should be addressing the supply of housing - reducing prices and increasing availability instead of using public money to fuel a bidding war for the inadequate number of properties on the market. Increase supply = cheaper houses + higher standard of living + labour mobility + lower benefits bill. Its moronic the problem hasnt been addressed by either Labour or the Tories.

Could be that the Spillett I had as a teacher was his dad. I wasnt much cop at rugby but there was one kid who used to run with the ball right down the touchline. Several times each game Id chrge into him and push him out of touch , ideally into the onlooking group of teachers. Failing that hook him round the neck as he ran past. Dexter Blackstock would have made some money from me if he'd been playing. -

I'm sorry to hear you were kept back for three years at Charterhouse. Most people scoot through in five years between 13 and 18 but others are differently abled. I think I was a tad confused. When you posted I remembered playing rugby at school and the name Spillett - but after digging around in some dusty unaccessed for many a long year memories I realised Spillett was a teacher not a pupil. As you were. -
The last two speeding tickets I got were for doing 54mph through 40mph roadworks - but it was 3am, a dual carriageway, traffic free and no work was going on and doing 34mph on the dual carriageway behinds Debenhams in Soton. Ive never got one for speeding on a motorway.
