  1. What would you 'do' then KRG? Loose off some cruise missiles to kill some people? commit enough firepower to ensure regime change and then sit back and see which of the 7 or 8 factions emerges strongest from the subsequent second civil war and insurgency?
  2. Theres no consensus on action because, as someone said earlier, its a war between two bad guys. The G20 nations was split right down the middle for good reason. The Assad regime is a dictatorship which respects the Christian and factional muslim minorities and which is repressing a rainbow alliance of democrats, reformers, shia militants, al Queda and mercenaries. Someone used chemical weapons but no-one knows who or who authorised it. I want a bit more certainty than that before we all get suckered into another quagmire on the back of spurious 'facts' which vaporise into 'actually that turned out to not be true' once the cruise missiles start flying.
  3. Doing nothing is a better option than doing the wrong thing.
  4. Im not saying Saints are necessarily - but trying to force players to leave does happen regularly. Osvaldo at Roma being one example close to home.
  5. This really. Clubs bang on about lack of loyalty from players, but then try and wriggle out of contracts they freely offered. It cuts both ways.
  6. Ah, ta. As a bloke its really difficult to get one of those sensual relaxing 'touching and stroking' massages that places routinely dole out for women. Seems that no matter where you go the options are being pummelled and knuckled for an hour or someone trying to **** you off. Would be nice to just be able to relax sometimes.
  7. Got to ask. Whats a smiley middle?
  8. Not stalking, simply that people remember spectacular and awful car crashes they have seen and read. Anyway it seems you are one side of the argument and the G20 and the rest of us are on the other. Its why there are global plans to firewall the high risk casino banking from the systemically important retail banks and why the G20 have agreed to implement plans to defer bonuses until the real, as opposed to temporary, value of assets and trades is seen - possibly up to 10 years later as proposed by Andrew Tyrie chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Banking Standards.
  9. Actually the naivety is all yours. Bonuses are paid based on the assessed value of an asset at year end - and the assessment of value is often done using a convention set up by the bankers colleagues and friends who are paid by the same reward system. Its how you end up with seemingly none stop ever increasing asset prices - until suddenly, years later, it turns out they were worthless heaps of junk after all - by which time the bankers have gathered their salaries and bonuses and moved on to another job. We havent heard a post about how wonderful Rupert Murdoch is for society for a while. Please entertain us again.
  10. Portuguese?
  11. Its what they're told to want otherwise the Chinese and Indians will take their jobs. Its the 21st century version of the Bogey man or Grendel.
  12. The rich are getting richer and the vast majority of the population - the middle and poor are getting less of the share of wealth, particularly in the US. Thats true whether its a recession or boom. http://economistsview.typepad.com/economistsview/2008/09/gdp-per-capita.html http://www.livingstandards.org/ratio-of-median-pay-and-gdp-per-capita-2/
  13. There used to be central purchasing consortiums that got very low prices. The government broke them up about 20 years ago in the interests of bringing in 'local autonomy and efficiency' ie lots of small purchasers lacking the skills and clout to negotiate good deals from the suppliers who had lobbyied for the change.
  14. Less trouble and mess than four Kudus
  15. I guess that would be the difference. Its only me and two kids - lego probably accounts for about half the value. My work clothes are decent but some of my casual / leisure stuff borders on shameful. I still wear a t shirt an old girlfriend gave me 18 years ago. I take your point though - it doesn't cost that much more to whack up the total to £100,000 contents and a housefire that wipes out everything would be expensive if under-insured.
  16. Some people say that but I can never see how. I have decent stuff but no expensive jewelry or handmade furniture. I work on £5,000 per room and £10,000 for the lounge.
  17. Go on moneysupermarket.com or one of the other comparison sites. Depending on where you live and how old you are it can be as low as a tenth of what you're paying.
  18. you're k mad / ripped off unless you live in a mansion or in Liverpool. I pay £240 pa combined for £500,000 buildings and £50,000 contents
  19. No he's even more objective than that, a pesticide salesman. agform.com

  21. I think the idea is that it punishes the parents ("look after your toerag and instil some discipline otherwise he'll be home much more often") plus it gives the other 29 kids in the class a break from the disruptive influence.
  22. Where do the U21s train then? I thought it was Staplewood. If he is just demoted to training with the U21s I dont have a problem with it.
  23. None. Just as nether you or Dig Dig have better information to the contrary. I said what I said on the understanding that he was barred from training at Staplewood along with Tadanari and 1 other. If that isnt accurate I retract it.
  24. Got a friend who has just sold his. Liked it but found it was too small to be practical.
  25. But whose fault is that? The club made a mistake in giving him a contract on such high wages and are now trying to get out of that contract by giving the ultimatum of "give up the contract or we sabotage your career" Any other industry and they would be in an industrial tribunal.
