Ask her to send my dads lighter back.

There is an excuse for the 1950s and 60s buildings - lack of money. But many of the buildings allowed since then are mostly either ugly or just generic. compared to somewhere like Brighton the Southampton planners have a lot to answer for.

Anyone remeber the smoking chimp? It was part of the day out for a grown up to pass it one through the mesh (you could go right up to the cage)

Every Korean product I have ever used or owned has turned out to be a heap of crap, without exception. Cars, tvs, washing machines and microwave, all turkeys.

Snowdonia has some interesting Devonian slate screes.

Saudi is potential powder keg imo. Religious tensions, an absolute monarchy, presumably a lot of women who are disaffected and a shed load of oil - meaning potentially the US could intervene to 'stabilise' the situation.

Im not suggesting the West should interfere, far from it.

Any rumblings in the other emirates Phil? (besides Bahrain that is. I guess Bahrain is an emirate?)

The Vectra rental car I had seemed only to like straight lines. Had a Vauxhall Zafira as a rental and it was surprisingly good.

Which would you prefer; dictators friendly to the west or democratically elected Islamic fundamentalist republics? I know those arent the only two options, or even the most likely, but interesting - altruist right thing to do V self interest.

Its a ruling based on the law as it stands, but afasik the law was never intended for this purpose, so I imagine the law will be changed sharpish in light of the court finding. I have no problem with different rates for different risk groups. It doesnt just apply to car insurance, also commercial insurance, shipping, life cover etc.

Putting the local government job "cuts" into perspective

The legalised robbery is tax avoidance loopholes - getting services but not paying for them - unless Barclays wants staff who cant read and write, have chronic untreated illnesses and their building is surrounded by a road less wasteland covered in uncollected rubbish. -
Space has either already been militarized or

Innovation works both ways. Some technology has flowed from the military to civilian - eg GPS but in many cases the reverse is true. The Army's Bowman radio system is basic compared to something as simple as a blackberry. I remember seeing one of the Apollo space capsules and thinking how primitive it was, not that much different to 1960s car. -

Sorry to hear about your job Badger. Hope it all pans out okay. Its a pity that the forum idiot posts video clips in a poor attempt to cover his lack of knowledge of not just the public sector but also the private. Yes you can cut local government services by 10%, 25%, 50% or even 75% and save on paying the tax. Its possible to increase class sizes to 40, not repair roads, close fire stations, reduce police manpower, close museums and swimming pools, sell off parks for housing. It depends on the quality of life we want. The number of 'non' jobs is arguably greater in large private companies than in the public sector. you'll find most large companies spend far more on staying in touch, market research and reaching out to their customers than local government do. Of course when private companies do it its good business practice, when public services do it its a waste of taxpayers money. Yes the government needs to eradicate the budget deficit, but to pretend it can be done simply by eliminating waste is specious. -
Thief sues..and settlement costs victim his house.

That sounds more like it. Writing a cheque to yourself sounds more like a dispute over money than theft. -
Thats a fantastic website, thanks. Haven't seen one that headbanging in a while. The fact that they link to David Icke tells you all you need to know.

The UK, and England in particular has very little semi wild open space. Retaining woodlands in public ownership and increasing access to them for camping, biker riders, walkers and horse riding is a very good thing imo. Over time I'd like to see a lot of the conifer plantations returned to heathland or mixed woodland, almost an extension of the national parks. It would cost very little / nothing especially when compared to money spent on addressing obesity or even public subsidies to the arts.

6 - as long as the other 12 are wins.

Actually I think it will be like the abusive Catholic priests in Ireland - has practically destroyed the church there.

Peterborough worry me. Big goal threat and if they can sort the defence out...

Never understood the attraction of saunas. Turkish baths on the other hand are fantastic, love them. Expensive to run though if you include the wages of the fat guy in a towel you need to throw cold water at you.

Just make a decision to stop using TSF if thats what you want Dune. Saying more provocative stuff just to get attention and then get banned just makes you look, well, a little more pitiable than usual.

My brother in law makes nuclear bombs at Aldermaston. Im pretty sure if one of his went off you'd be able feel it in Eling (and Chiswick).

Send Turkish up there to sort it out.
