I agree about MLT - he has a unique position, goodwill from all Saints fans. McMenemy is entitled to a measure of respect and Saints fans, if only he can learn to be a quiet figurehead of continuity and non partisan support - a bit like Ted Bates managed to do after retiring as manager. .

In reality, as the Bournemouth mess showed, he appears to be only interested in running a football club or earning a finders fee. In my experience finders fee based deals only work out if the principal appoints an agent to find him a good business opportunity or an agent finds a good business opportunity not generally known by others. Touting around a club in well publicised trouble to all and sundry doesnt have the hallmarks of going well unfortunately.

Fry's silence is professional, but not good news IMO. If there was one strong bid acceptable to the creditors it would have been anounced as the preferred bidder by now. Sounds to me as though he has the job of working out if one of the rickety bids might be able to actually deliver sufficient funds equal to what a liquidation would raise.

That article about Darlington says "Brackenbury Clark and Co set a deadline of 5 May for interested parties but it said no acceptable offers had been received by that time". I wonder if that means that the two bids for Saints already recieved by the deadline are therefore de facto 'acceptable' in principle and therefore we have a buyer and the administrator just needs to thrash out which one wins. Good news.
