Actually, Rohl seemingly being in the frame is perplexing me somewhat. As you rightly say, he was part and parcel of the Ralph 'Gegenpress' era which, tactically, is the antithesis of the possession based football that the club are supposedly wedded to now. What type of tactical approach has Rohl instilled at Sheff Wed? Has he changed his approach or is this a sign the club are u-turning on what they want to see on the pitch? (Apologies if this has already been covered)

This is what I'll never get when it comes to manager recruitment... As you say, we'll merrily throw £10m here and £10m there at various bang average players who end up having zero impact on our destiny, yet we seemingly baulk at the notion of spending £10m on recruiting a 'higher level' manager. (Caveat: yes, I know it'll take more than money to persuade such a manager to come here, but surely it's better to try and fail than not try at all...)

Yep, this echos my thoughts on last season. I don't get to many games these days but I remember one match I went to last season (Rotherham at home I think) where we scored early on and the rest of the game was the usual 80% possession but doing nothing with it... and then Rotherham scored towards the end to gain a draw. I remember turning to my son at one point part way through the game and saying that I'd spent the last 20 minutes staring into space because nothing of note was happening on the field. As you say, it was hard work watching the game, rather than being enjoyable. That experience summed up "Russball" to me. Yes, we'd added to the fabled "undefeated run" stats, but at what cost...? Turgid football and throwing away 2 points, that's what...
