  1. About a quarter (500) of the active SWF members voted "No". That leaves c.75% of the active membership who haven't voted, a significant proportion of which would probably vote "don't know" if that option was available, myself included. (so, roughly the same sort of proportion of the country that voted for David Cameron in 2012.... ) I would also venture that a significant percentage of the "No" votes would be "Don't know" if that option was available. In the equivalent "Pardew Sacked" poll the 95% figure came down to 55% as there was a "don't know" option (which attracted c.35% of the vote). Gosh....I think I'm turning into MLG....
  2. I didn't say it makes you a hypocrite - I'm simply saying that I'm struggling to understand why people don't extol the same virtues as Adkins. In other words, I think Adkins himself would disagree with your stance. (which of course doesn't make your stance "wrong"....)
  3. My understanding of the Espanyol situation is that the club's increasingly bad financial position meant that Pochittino was less and less able to put his strategy and methods into practice, and thus you had a vicious circle of decline. I don't know what type of football Espanyol are playing under the new manager but I would imagine it's a type of football that fits better to a system that is much more sustainable under a declining financial model. Don't forget Adkins got relegated with S****horpe when, as I understand it, they hit the financial buffers. So, I don't personally read too much into how Espanyol are playing now vs how they were playing in the latter days of Pochittino's tenure. These situations are rarely that black and white.
  4. If he supported Adkin's like he says he does then I'm not sure why he's reacting in the polar opposite way to which Adkins himself would react to this situation. Baffles me how people can praise Adkins' outlook on life then react completely differently themselves. Bordering on hypocrisy IMO.
  5. I've been keeping my 'facepalm moment' on Adkins being sacked up my sleeve for now but I think we have a winner....
  6. Likewise. I'm pretty sure the "Don't knows" are in the majority. I firmly believe we should take our lead from Adkins' philosophically outlook on life....."draw a line and and move on...."
  7. Well that seals it then......Pochittino OUT!!!
  8. What do you think Adkins opinion on fans 'boycotting' St Mary's would be?
  9. Fair point. Not saying that my gut feel is watertight! Just a hunch...
  10. My gut feel says 'yes'... I think we'd all be in agreement that Ramirez hasn't been firing on all cylinders since he arrived - yes, there's lots of factors involved in that.... acclimatising to the UK, his thigh injury, etc.....but.... do people agree that having a manager that comes from the same part of the world could be the catalyst he needs to kick on in the Premier League? I'm not saying that Adkins wasn't capable of achieving the same thing but I just have a gut feel that Pochettino could get the best out of him for the rest of the season.
  11. I was thinking about this a lot yesterday.... As much as I liked Adkins I'm pretty convinced we'll now see a new lease of life from Gaston under MP.

  14. Exactly. That's why we're all praising Adkins to the hilt - because he would turn a negative into a positive. And yet here we have people saying they can't bring themselves to do that. If you love Adkins (which we all do) then practice what he preached maybe...?
  15. How should fans raect at the Everton game (and beyond)? I'll go with whatever Adkins advice would be....
  16. It's the chap from SISA's idea I believe - the white handkerchief thing is what fans in Spain do at games if they're disgruntled about something. Apparently.
  17. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/southampton-sack-nigel-adkins-the-writing-1544510 "In a remarkable club meeting, Southampton executive chairman Nicola Cortese addressed Adkins, the first-team squad and club staff in what they thought was going to be a rallying cry ahead of their return to the top flight. Instead, the Italian banking tycoon told them: “Most of you are not good enough for the Premier League.” And no one doubted that he included his manager in that damning assessment."

  21. @NabilHassan79: The Mirror are tonight reporting Nigel Adkins found out he had been sacked when seeing the news on television. Shocking if true. #saintsfc http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/nigel-adkins-sacked-southampton-manager-1544359
  22. Seeing that farewell message, l must admit that I now have a small tear dripping through my pragmatism. Will miss Adkins despite being enthusiastic about the future with this new chap.
