  1. If this needs to be said, could it not have been in the 8 page long Man Utd ticket thread, rather than all on its own?
  2. 4:57pm Saturday 15th January 2011
  3. Not really, you just need to know what the reserve players and youth team players look like. They also show quite a lot of Ben Reeves in todays videos.
  4. If they lose this they may be a little screwed... http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/jan/13/portsmouth-tottenham-hotspur-asmir-begovic
  5. Also tipped by English FA's Director of Football Development as one of England's big hopes and scouted by all the big clubs in England. £10m is cheap if anything, considering he still has possibly over 15 years as a top player left in his career. Luckily both Cortese and Adkins have said he won't be sold and we have little reason to doubt them.
  6. He doesn't want to give any hint to Paul Ince. Notts County will have spent the 5 days before the game training for a match against Saints not knowing if they will be facing Lallana or not. Makes tactics harder for them and they will have wasted time either preparing to face Lallana when he won't play, or preparing not to face Lallana and he does play. Sensible approach for Saints to take.
  7. Adkins in interview today - Extremely confident Chamberlain won't go - Media have made up the £10m figure as Saints haven't given any player a price

  9. Chris Powell close to becoming Charlton Athletic manager according to a BBC reporter. That is a big gamble, given his lack of experience. Seems a little "too nice" to be a manager.
  10. I would have used Labour foreign secretary rather than Pope.
  11. Don't worry Trousers it isn't you. It is a home game at St Mary's on the 25th January 2011 against Charlton, Chez and bjk can't read!
  12. Dalglish has also stated he would like the job long term. Compare Dalglish's four top flight titles and two FA Cup's as manager and his legendary status amongst Reds fans to Adkins' two promotions from the 3rd tier and it is a no contest. Nigel still has a long way to go to get the Anfield job, as there will be a lot of more experienced managers ahead of him in the queue. In any case under Cortese he looks to have the ambitions and the resources to overtake a poor Liverpool.
  13. Nope, someone put it on the "always reliable" football-rumours.co.uk hours ago.
  14. At least it is making Liverpool looking less appealing to go to...
  15. The picture isn't showing. BTW you don't need to use imageshack. You can just use the direct link from the picture on the Saints website.

  17. Saints wore a red and white sash kit 51 years before Peru did! Now that is history...
  18. In order for Saints to be top at 5pm on Saturday, what Bournemouth do on Friday night is irrelevant as they have fewer points than Saints. It needs a Saints win and Brighton defeat to happen.
  19. Exactly. Docker-P's logic is completely flawed. He undermines his own argument.
  20. I think you will find it hard to name a club that hasn't made significant changes to its kit. If you were a Saints fan in the 1950's how would you have felt when they changed the shorts and socks from the blue Saints had used for the previous 65 years?
  21. What is the traditional kit though? - For 52% of the club's history it had blue shorts and blue socks. - For 71% of the clubs history it didn't have the current badge style. - The % of the club's history where it had a yellow away kit is tiny. They should have stuck with the first kit in 1885. It is unique in England and looks good.
  22. That is an award voted for by people that wouldn't have seen Walcott play. A bit of perspective?
  23. From 1885 to 1950 Saints didn't have black shorts. They were blue. From 1885 to 1950 Saints didn't have red/white or white socks. They were blue. From 1885 to 1974 Saints didn't have the current fan designed in a competition club badge. From 1885 to 1896 and from 1980 to 1989 Saints didn't wear red and white stripes. Teams can change their kit style many have in the past. Leeds United everywhere are thought of as all white, but didn't wear white until the 1960's. A red sash makes Saints unique in English football and differentiates the kit from Sunderland, Sheff Utd, Stoke etc etc. and isn't a complete change as it links back to the club's roots. When everyone thinks of red sash let them think Saints (and Peru) . Docker-P would have had a nightmare if he were a fan in the 1950's when Saints started wearing black shorts and white/red socks for the first time after 65 years of blue socks. I think we should stick with the sash.
  24. Not joint top at all Nick! Yes, joint on points, but goal difference and goals scored is better which is how league positions are determined. It is only "joint top" if all these are equal.
