Any news about a minute's silence today ?
Matthew Le God replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
I agree with everything Arizona just said in post 79. Neither he or I said anything negative about either man and have both said he is worthy of respect and remembrance. I'm sorry for Sloggers loss but fail to see how anyone has given him a "personal insult" as described in this thread. -

As your posts contain so many spelling and grammatical errors it is hard to tell. I don't see why someone would say they prayed when they didn't. -

At no point in this thread have I said they aren't. I just said save it until All Saints day. That is still them getting the respect they deserve. Many people have very worth while professions and are of great benefit to the community. You have to draw a line somewhere or you'd be endlessly remembering the dead at sporting events. -

So your God kills someone and you pray to your God that it isn't the person you know and is instead someone else dead? What % success rate have you had on your prayers over your life? -

Just because Liverpool and Everton do something doesn't mean you have to follow blindly like sheep. The two fireman will get recognition on All Saints day and their own remembrance services which have the sole function of providing an outlet for grief and gratitude towards these public servants. -

Instead you resorted to wishing someone dead. Making you the callous and heartless individual you accuse him of being does it not? -

Wishing Arizona dead makes you the callous and heartless individual you accuse him of being does it not? Arizona was only saying that if you commemorate everyone that dies in the city you'd have an endless stream of remembrance at sporting events. He wasn't being callous or heartless he was just putting things in perspective rather than being over sensitive and jumping on a bandwagon. An annual collective remembrance is the most sensible policy and is still just as respectful. -

I'm not saying we shouldn't pay tribute at the football. Just do it once a year on All Saints day. If you really want to do it near to the event of their death then go to the remembrance service along with the friends and family of the dead. A minutes silence doesn't actually achieve anything and is ultimately a pointless act that achieves nothing. You can't show respect to the dead, they are dead. What is gained from applauding someone that isn't alive? It is a futile act that is ultimately pointless. Yes, that may sound cold and heartless but that doesn't make something less true. If you want to show respect to Southampton's emergency services then do it to those still alive and actually make a difference. Donate to the lifeboat charity etc. -

But then it is just your opinion that the opposite is needed. The same can be said of everything on an internet forum, just personal opinion. However I have outlined why I believe there is already rememberance services that provide the function that you are asking for without imposing it on a sporting event on a frequent basis. I'm not saying these men don't deserve respect, just that there are other events that provide that function and there is no need to overlap events that have the same function and impose themselves on people that are indifferent to the event. Millions die around the world and the UK every year but I'm sure you only truly care if the person is family or friend. -

People choose to go to a remembrance service to remember people, that is its function. It is not the function of a football match to provide a grieving service to the thousands of people that die in the UK each year. There are outlets to remember these people IF you choose to do so, thus no need to "force" hollow remembrance upon 20,000 that are not there for that purpose every week at a sporting event. An annual remembrance at St Mary's is all that is needed. -

To mention FM is bizarre, petty and irrelevant. You don't need a game of football to remember someone. People go to a football match for football. People go to remembrance services for remembrance. If you want to remember these people there is ample opportunity to go to a service or pay private tribute in the city. There is no need to combine the two unless the person that died is significant to the club, everyone else can be given respect on the All Saints day. -

No such thing as a FA Cup semi final replay. It is decided on the day.

If you mourn everyone that dies with a minutes silence to give respect where do you draw the line? We'd end up having a minute's silence every week. As I said earlier, leave it to family and friends to mourn, not "force" a minutes upon 20,000 who didn't know the individuals. Just feels hollow otherwise. This is why the current system of remembrance of all on one day is the best idea. -

**Warning Controversial View** What is the point of giving anyone a minutes silence? What does it achieve? Especially someone you didn't know. Just a hollow gesture by the needlessly sentimental. Yes, I appreciate the work the fireman do in the city, but leave it to their family and friends to mourn. -
Would you sign Papa Waigo N'Diaye on a permanent basis?
Matthew Le God replied to Colinjb's topic in The Saints
Don't take my word for it... It is common practice for the price to be set before the loan has started. There would have been a hefty loan fee, % of wages and a pre-determined fee to make it permanent should Saints decide to take it up. For the purposes of Football Manager 2010, I guessed this fee to be around £500k but that was a pure guess on my part. Probably slightly too high in hindsight. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1785065,00.html -

It was a loan with a view to a transfer, so it is very likely a price has been arranged already. -
Lets have your predictions for how many points we will finish on

You think Charlton will only get 2 points from 6 games and Huddersfield only get 8 points from 6 games? And you have the cheek to criticize women for knowledge of the game! -
A share of gate money is a stupid idea. Why would clubs bother increasing the capacity of stadia if they have to share it out? They'd struggle to make the money back.

You seem to ignore the fact that the team switches between 442 and 451 during games and then back again. I can't see how you can make a clear distinction between games playing 442 and 451.
