Pardew and board to meet Thursday now...?
Matthew Le God replied to saint lard's topic in The Saints
And both Pardew and Cortese have stated it would have to be huge money for Saints to sell any of the stars. - Teams with money problems sell cheaply to resolve money problems. - Teams with wealthy backers can afford to turn away derogatory bids. Yes, if a player wants to leave they will leave, but I don't see Saints letting anyone go on the cheap whilst Liebherr provides financial security. Thus there aren't many clubs that would both want and afford the likes of Lambert, Schneiderlin, Fonte and Lallana. A lot of Championship sides are in huge problems. Premiership clubs would be taking a gamble on them and unlikely to be able to offer them regular football in a winning side. Even if Pardew does go. Which I don't want and don't think will happen, I see little reason why that would mean the main players in his squad would depart as well. Any incoming manager and COrtese would be looking to keep them and would have the financial backing and ambition to do so. -
What about the first sentance? Admittedly the rest of the article does contradict this opening line, but they are older quotes from a few days ago so maybe the deal has been done. But then...Sky messed up the Ward deal and announced it as being complete.

We would yes, but we shouldn't. Why it affects anyone other than the monarch's friends and family I don't know. Why goto someone's funeral or mourn them if you weren't friend or family? (Especially one born by sheer chance into a monarchy.) Let alone have a national day of mourning. What happened in terms of a nation mourning Diana was laughable.

Jaidi's insight into attributes footballer needs
Matthew Le God replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
Tall and can head the ball. Job done. -
Look at the videos I posted earlier in the thread. You shouldn't trust Youtube player videos generally but he does look very good and most Brighton fans are devastated based on the huge thread about it on their main forum.
-
That sums the media up very well. Nothing like some ignoring of the full picture to stir up some controversy/ratings/increase circulation.
-
Youtube is not the best way to judge a player as you are seeing him in isolation and selective clips, but he does look good. Videos of every touch Calderon had in 4 League One games... Calderon vs Charlton Calderon vs Oldham and Hartlepool Calderon vs Tranmere

BBC Radio Solent starting a rumour on Saturday and ending their own rumour today! http://twitter.com/solentsport Who needs real events when you can create your own news stories from an office? Thread ends??? -
More likely to be Nick Harvey the fitness coach. Though perhaps in conjunction with Pardew.
-
Again he wasn't 100% about that. Surely if he trusted his source he'd sound a little more confident?

An interesting choice of story from the OS today... http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2050176,00.html

Blackmore wasn't sure in his suggestion that the reason was that Liebherr was upset. He said it was a possible reason. Surely a man with good connections would be a little more sure. He ignored any other possible reason such as flight restrictions. Or maybe his source either isn't a good one or is not telling him everything.

League One Odds - 2010/11 (With 20 teams)
Matthew Le God replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
Win the League outright. -
The Daily Mail rumours predate the BBC Solent reports after the Southend game. The Solent reports add what to the original rumour? Nothing except a suggestion Liebherr not being there may be due to him being upset. At no point did they raise the point it may have been impossible for Liebherr to get home from the game.
-
It doesn't need quashing when to anyone with an ounce of common sense sees it for what it is - i.e. unfounded speculation with no quotes or source. Adam Blackmore is clearly a fool for suggesting Liebherr wasn't their because he was upset. He clearly didn't look any deeper as to other possible reason why a man that lives in Switzerland may not be at the stadium when it was expected that air space would be closed close to the game ending.
-
And neither has Cortese. If the Daily Mail told you looking at post boxes gave you cancer would you believe them? Pretty much the same as a Pardew leaving story that contents no evidence.
-
Radio Solent gave no quotes or sources either. Radio Solent also raised the point of Liebherr not being at the Southend game because he is unhappy. At no point did they consider impeding the flight restriction to Switzerland or any quotes or sources. Atm it is all unfounded speculation.

Maybe details aren't 100% confirmed. The police deciding not to change the away end recently may have required a rethink!

Those 4 or 5 media outlets are just rehashing the Daily Mail story. The Daily Mail story has NO quotes or sources attached and is completely unsubstantiated. Cortese therefore probably believes it isn't worth a moment of his time to respond to such poor journalism. Neither should any fan take any notice of a rumour lacking it details.

1) It is not public knowledge what went on with the Echo. So hard for anyone to form an opinion either for/against either party concerned. 2) All he said was he expected the team to do better given the money spend. I think he has a point. Pardew hasn't done badly, but he could have done better given the huge difference in resources at his disposal compared to other League One clubs. I want Pardew to stay btw 3) They clearly have reasons for not selling them yet, maybe details aren't 100% confirmed. The police deciding not to change the away end recently may have required a rethink! A large number of clubs haven't got them on sale. I'd imagine they will be in good time. 4 & 5) Pardew himself has stated there will be a lot of speculation over the summer and he won't be responding to it. I agree with him, I see no reason why he or Cortese should respond to every rumour Fleet Street/Daily Echo/Saints Forum come up with. If something is going to happen it will happen.

Have Radio Solent got someone at the stadium? -
You could always talk about politics?

Skybet have now made odds for the 20 teams guaranteed to be in League One next season. Saints remain favourites and will likely stay so even when the playoff losers are added. With their odds already coming in from 4/1 they will likely get shorter in the next few months. Win the League Outright Saints 3/1 Sheff Weds 7/1 **Three teams out of Huddersfield, Swindon, Millwall and Charlton likely to go roughly here** Peterborough 12/1 Plymouth 12/1 Brighton 12/1 Notts County 14/1 Colchester 14/1 MK Dons 16/1 Brentford 20/1 Walsall 25/1 Bristol Rovers 25/1 Carlise 25/1 Tranmere 25/1 Oldham 33/1 Yeovil 40/1 Leyton Orient 40/1 Hartlepool 40/1 Bournemouth 40/1 Rochdale 50/1 Exeter 50/1 **One of Morecombe, Rotherham, Aldershot and Dagenham & Redbridge likely to go here**
