  1. Pompey are playing 3 times in the week as well. Anyway...if a professional can't run around on a Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday then they should retire! ffs it is nearly 4 days between MK Dons and the Pompey game!
  2. But it wasn't like that in 1885. Don't do half the job! It either should be 100% like 1885 or not bother. 1) White shirt with red sash. 2) White shorts 3) All red socks Like this... http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Southampton/images/southampton_1885-1889.gif
  3. Needs to be all red socks. Doesn't matter if you are keen or not! If it is to be the 1885 kit then has to be white shorts and red socks with a white shirt with red sash. Anything else would not be right as not what it was in 1885.
  4. The 1885 kit had white shorts and red socks.
  5. Were you not alive in the 1980's? No red and white stripes between 1980 and 1989(Saints most successful decade). Anyway this red sash kit is for ONE YEAR 2010/11 season. So why does it matter? Back to stripes in 2011. That badge has only existed for 36 years out of 125 years. So hardly traditional. It was designed by a fan in a competition the club ran in 1974 and it shows in its style and cartoony look.
  6. Because all the bits in the centre come from the 1885 badge.
  7. Could you post a photo of it so we can see what shade of red it is? I'd guess it will have faded over 125 years but still gives an idea.
  8. Yep, that one is obvious hence why it was an example. What else will they come up with I wonder?
  9. I forgot things like the TV gantry means some blocks in the Kingland have less rows than others.
  10. Let's predict what type of things they may sing at us and try to think of some witty replies. For example... Pompey chant "Premier League and you ****ed it up" Saints return with...?
  11. As long as you are in a central block in the Itchen or Kingsland, sitting towards the back gives the best view of the match.
  12. The back row varies from block to block.
  13. Mustaches should be made compulsory next season for all players!
  14. Who? Also Thomas won't start ahead of Otsemobor nor will Lallana be upfront. Watching them train yesterday gives a good idea as to who will start.
  15. Interesting to see they couldn't agree which shoulder to have the sash over!
  16. Interesting to see they couldn't agree which shoulder to have the sash over!
  17. So along the lines of post 3 of this thread?
  18. In 1985 Saints had that badge for 11 years out of 100. Not exactly commemorative of 100 years.
  19. I like that. Email it to the club.
  20. It is for one season.
  21. What is your argument against the sash? It is a one year commemorative kit. Will be back to stripes in 2011.
  22. My point is the badge has the look of an amateur design from the 70's. Which is exactly what it was. A fan competition to design a badge in 1974. The club is 125 years old. The current badge has only existed for 36 years of those 125 years. For 89 years Saints didn't have that cartoony monstrosity! So history is no excuse for the badge to remain. The club could do better, for a start the 1885 badge looks a lot better and you can't get more traditional than using the first badge.
  23. It is a one off, one season kit. Why do you have an issue with that? It will be back to red and white stripes in 2011. You can't get more traditional in celebrating 125 years than wearing the kit you first wore in 1885. btw Crystal Palace didn't start wearing red/blue until the 1970's and Leeds didn't play in white until the 1960's.
  24. It is a one year anniversary kit. It would go back to stripes from 2011 onwards. It is 125 year anniversary and you don't get much more traditional than wearing the first kit you ever wore 125 years ago. As for your point about recent Saints kits always being stripes. The most successful decade in the league was that of the 1980's and Saints didn't have stripes from 1980 to 1989. I think that is recent.
  25. Original or current?
