I'm sure a large number on here would agree sports reporting about Saints in the Echo is poorly researched, sensationalist and on many occasions has an ulterior motive. This of course is not confined to the Daily Echo by any means and is common in a large number of regional and national papers. Based on what Saints fans have seen so far from Mr Liebherr and Mr Cortese I'm sure they are more inclined to believe them than the Echo. The new regime has delivered for Saints, the Echo is purely in it to sell papers and will do everything to shift more copies. It just happens they have got too far this time and bitten the hand that feeds them.
-
The info so far has only come from the Echo so you are also speculating based on one side of the argument. 1) A local newspaper with some dubious past reporting. versus 2) The man who was a key figure in saving the club and bringing a billionaire investor to Saints and has a great track record so far turning the club around and delivering real results on and off the pitch. All speculation at the moment as we have only heard from the Echo on this. But I know which side I am more likely to trust! Especially after reading the shameful editorial today.
-
There is obviously more to it than just that. Cortese doesn't strike me as being the type of man that would do something like this unless the Echo crossed the line. There has been a serious breakdown in the relationship and unlikely the club would ban them on a whim.
-
Wouldn't really call it a Xmas do then. More just a mid season team bonding night.
-
Up until that point your theory works. However I very much doubt Nicola Cortese is taking this lightly and won't be removing the ban any time soon and if he does it will only be after some major groveling and apologies from the Echo(I doubt even that would be enough).

As I said before he has been told if he starts playing again it could mean he may never be able to walk on that ankle again for potentially the next 60 years! Are you telling me it is worth the risk of playing and then for him to screw his leg up for the the rest of his life? David Connolly had a bad injury but has recovered, there is NO chance Ashton can recover hence why professionals advised him to retire. I doubt Dean Ashton would have taken this decision on a whim and decide to jump back into playing for Saints just because a contract is waved before him. Some things are more important than football and your mobility for the next 60 years in my opinion is more important than a game of football. I hope you have a change of mind and decide that aswell.
-
Because Ashton has been told if he plays football he may never walk again. This really is a bizarre thread and has no similarity to David Connolly. Ashton will never play football again. He is very seriously injured!

A "Christmas do" in March?

Worth closing this thread as it is the smaller of the two? Both are basically discussing the same thing and two threads is diluting it.

Did the PA have permission to use the pictures before the press conference saint peach? Maybe the PA were happy to wait until after the press conference and didn't feel it didn't need to get in early. The Echo jumped in before it should have, printed the pictures, stole the thunder from the press conference and ****ed off Nicole Cortese and his big "reveal" to a wider national audience. Yes, anyone could look at the pictures on the New Forest website, but maybe no-one was allowed to publish on a wide scale them until the 8th December. Until that point only a few people on forums like this that knew about it would have checked on the NFDC website.
-
The Press Association may not have provided an image because it wasn't allowed to and stuck to this. The Echo clearly did not have the permission of the the club to use the images before the press conference. Maybe we will see legal action against the Echo for printing the pictures (if they were protected by law). My theory certainly explains why it is only the Echo with the ban.
-
The Echo I think used pictures of the development in its article. Sky, the BBC and all other media before the press conference didn't use pictures and just gave brief outlines of the development. If these pictures were protected under copyright law and the club clearly didn't want them published until the press conference maybe that is why there was a breakdown. Thus that is why the ban is for the Echo and not other media as that is what the Echo did differently to all other media. Basically the Echo stole the draw of the press conference being the first to reveal to a wide audience what the development looked like. Or course I could be very wrong, but I think it is a plausible theory

It is likely to not be faulty. I bet if you put your disk in my Mac it would run fine. If you are signed up to the sigames.com forum make a thread there and a member of staff should respond to you quickly and sort the problem out.
-
Great player 2 years ago but likely his injury problems would make it a big risk. After all this is the main reason Derby are letting him go.
-
Have you got patch 10.1.1? See if that makes a difference http://community.sigames.com/showthread.php?t=158962
-
Its not faulty if thousands of people are playing the game on Mac's. As I said before it works fine on mine. Your game clearly isn't faulty as it loads up and plays to some extent. If a retailer were to test it on a Mac it would more than likely work. Most likely down to your spec or settings.

Ok maybe he did, but still not a professional article dated before that point. Echo had from 25th November until 7th December to run the story. However they just happened to run it the day after it breaks on 606 and Saints web. Members on Echo sports team likely to have read it on here as some are members. If I was an Echo sports reporter when the multi-million pound takeover from a billionaire takeover happened I would have had a 10 SECOND check every morning or at least once a week at the planning section of the councils that covered the training ground(New Forest District Council) and stadium(Southampton City Council) for any planned developments. Just put the Southampton FC sites as favourites and check them every so often for any plans. Would be sad if you weren't paid to, but as a journalist a chance of an exclusive was missed and only made the Echo over a week after it first appeared on the New Forrest councils website. All could have been done for only 10 seconds work a day or maybe a week.
-
Works fine on my Mac. Try asking here Steve http://community.sigames.com/forumdisplay.php?f=33 Doubt you will be able to get a refund on a PC/Mac game that has been opened from any retailer.
-
Yep, they have every right to publish it however... If the Echo broke a promise with the club(which they may or may not have done). Then the club have every right to ban them from Staplewood and St Mary's.
-
I just had a quick look and put 19th as that is when the club sent them to the council. Ok that may be wrong. But it is irrelevant whether it is the 19th or 25th, the point is it was a long gap to December 7th and anyone publishing the story. Thus not an exclusive and didn't matter if the Echo waited a day.
-
He posted them just before 11am on 7th December. Can you find an article on the internet written about it before then?
-
Everything I just said in that bit you quoted is fact. Which bits aren't?
-
They have lost more by breaking the story against the wishes of the club then they would have done for saving face by running the story and destroying ties with the club! Would have been better for them if they just waited 24 hours and kept a good relationship with the club they rely having a good relationship with to sell newspapers.
-
The plans were first publicly available on the New Forest District council website on the 19th November 2009. From the 19th Nov to the 7th December no-one in the media printed or said anything about them. They were noticed by Master Bates and posted on this forum on the 7th December. The next day (8th December) they were in the Echo. Coincidence?

The next day (8th December) they were in the Echo. The Echo broke confidence because the club asked reasonably to delay a full story for a day yet the Echo went ahead. It was hardly going to be an exclusive for the Echo as news had broken on a small scale on the 7th December. Thus it wouldn't matter if the Echo waited a day. A large % of the Echo's readership and Saints fans that don't read this forum they would have been unaware of the planned developments and the club would have liked Nicole Cortese at the press conference to be the one that made them aware of it.
