There is an element of risk going for Armstrong due to him not playing at this level before. However there is a potentially bigger upside. If he has two good seasons with us his value would be huge and he'd still only be 26 years old in the summer of 2023. Where as in 2 years Ings will be 31 and only have 1 year left on his contract, his value will be lower than the £30m paid for him. Villa prefer one option, we may go for the other option. We don't know which will turn out better. They may also both work out well for all parties.

You ignored @supersonic 's question.
-
Why have you written him off already? How do you think Armstrong managed to have a better Championship season than Ings ever managed?
-
He is five years younger, five more years of football to get out of him and potentially a much bigger future transfer fee to be had.
-
No idea if he is reliable or how he would know, but this Portuguese journalist (with a blue verified tick and 25k followers) says...

We can blow Norwich out of the water if it comes down to wages. Our wage structure is considerably higher than theirs.
-
Which physical attributes? Armstrong isn't slow. To dismiss him for being small is also daft.
-
He isn't being consistent in his argument. You can't dismiss one player for not having a certain level of experience and then suggest an alternative who is playing at an even lower level of football.
-
Are you aware how this is nonsense? You dismiss Armstrong for being unproven but.. both Armstrong and Edouard are unproven in the Premier League. If anything Armstrong is current playing in a far superior league. The Championship is a long way above the Scottish top flight for quality.

That doesn't justify writing him off. Plus we don't actually know for certain who the replacement will be. -

Writing off a team before seeing who the replacement is... definitely reactionary! -

Two strikers scoring 9 league goals is rare in a relegation fodder team. -
Not really, the Grealish deal isn't going to collapse.
-
Adams only scored slightly less than Ings last season. Another signing roughly as successful as Adams and we'd have enough. Plus Tella is developing very quickly now.
-
If it was Burnley you might have a point, but Aston Villa can out do Saints for transfer fees and wages.

Quite the opposite, recent years have seen a big improvement in our recruitment after a dodgy spell. -

Why are you judging the team on the 4th choice centre back and multiple 1st team players being rested for Saturday? Only a tiny handful of clubs in football history have received £30m for a player with 1 year of contract left. Are you alredy writing off any replacement we sign? -
Some of that £30m will being going to Liverpool as a sell on %.
-
It does not keep the fans 'on side' if they then sell him as you think they will.
-
1) It is not our best XI. The two first choice centre backs aren't playing, nor is Armstrong or Ings. 2) On what is that based?
-
How do the club benefit from telling Blackmore that Ward-Prowse won't leave... only for him to leave?
-
Every club bar a tiny number you can count on one hand is a selling club. That still doesn't make it obvious he'll leave.

He is at the game...
