It isn't clear at all, we don't know what they've done regarding Armstrong.
-
It isn't particularly realistic to add another striker to a list of Ings, Adams, Tella, Obafemi (with Redmond and Walcott also used as strikers if needed). Tella and Obafemi are effective enough to be 3rd and 4th choice strikers. Another striker is only really needed if Ings is sold. Saints don't have much in the way of cash this summer, so any cash they do have needs to be focused on improving depth in central midfield and fullbacks. An injury in either of those positions and Saints are screwed.
-
I did not write them off. We were discussing striker options, Walcott and Redmond are primarily options for the two number 10 roles, not strikers. So when I said 'if Saints are desperate', not regarding their ability but having to use 5th and 6th choice strikers and move them away from being used as number 10s.

"Adam, I've been really impressed with Simeon and Sally Sue at the heart of the defence"

Training today in South Wales rather than Staplewood ahead of the Swansea City game...

They don't need another striker if Ings stays. Ings & Adams 1st choice pairing with Tella & Obafemi as 3rd and 4th choice is more than good enough, with Redmond & Walcott if we are desperate. It is a defensive midfielder and full back cover Saints need to prioritise.
-
Our centre backs and first choice full backs are fine. What screwed Saints last season was a lack of depth at full back and defensive midfield. When the first choice team plays we are fine, it is injury crisis in a few positions that fucks them.
-
I don't think that can be decided yet. Both McCarthy and Forster played a half each vs Fulham. Forster had the whole game vs Cardiff, but perhaps McCarthy will get the whole game vs Swansea.

Isn't that a good thing? 🤔 (hypochondriac has now edited his typo)

Impressed with the Cardiff TV commentary tonight. Normally club media is dreadful and they haven't a clue about the opponent. They actually know our squad pretty well.

He still travelled to Cardiff...

It is occasional updates rather than live commentary on BBC Solent. Only way to watch it is to pay £3 on the Cardiff website.

They are both nuts, but followers of Scientology are more nuts. Scientology is the creation of a science fiction writer who was convicted and sentence to jail for fraud. Takes a special kind of bonkers to be brainwashed by L.Ron Hubbard.

As this thread is about a Manchester United player... them. 😇

It isn't a well trodden path. You have to go back a very long way! Jim McCalliog in the 1974/75 season

A player still capable of playing at a higher level than League 1 will still want wages of Championship level and may aswell continue their career in a club's 1st team. The role is for an experienced pro to mentor young players and play no part in our 1st team. It doesn't need to be an exceptional player, PL under 23 teams are all around the level of a League 1 or League 2 team in ability.
-
It wouldn't be a very good point. Stephens isn't good enough to be a first team starter for us in the PL, but as 3rd or 4th choice he is fine. He certainly shouldn't be banished to B team football player/coach/mentor. Nor would that be remotely appealing to him, he still has 5/6+ years left at least as a footballer and the wages that come with it compared to what Saints will be paying Lancashire for his role.
-
Do you mean 27 year old Jack Stephens who will be playing and training for our first team next season? He can't also regularly play for and train with the B team. So it isn't more obvious at all as it would make no sense what so ever. The role is for an experienced pro in their 30s who has no more 1st team ambitions and is looking for a player/coach/mentor role to transition into coaching. Not for 27 year old 1st team players like Stephens.
-
No he wouldn't. It requires someone capable of playing at League 1 or 2 level in the 2021/22 season. Lancashire was doing that last season. Hammond has not played a professional game for 6 years!
-
37 year old Andrew Crofts and 35 year old Paul McShane both hired as player/coaches for Brighton and Man Utd under 23s.
-
Why? Man Utd and Brighton have done similar.
-
You have not got the concept at all. The concept is for an experienced player to play in the B team. All the players you listed retired ages ago. Chris Perry is 48 years old and last played a professional game 11 years ago! Perry and the others you suggested would not be capable of playing at PL2 standard in 2021. Although Lancashire has been a League 1 and League 2 player throughout his career, he is still capable of playing at the standard of the academy teams.
