  1. Now this would be entertaining and a disaster waiting to happen... Tony Husband ‏@TonyHusbandBBC 26m26 minutes ago #pompey Steve Claridge says he would do the job in a "heartbeat." https://audioboom.com/boos/3078287-pompey-legend-steveclaridge-talks-to-bbcradiosolent-following-awford-s-departure
  2. They have higher prices for games where they think there is going to be more demand. There will be a lot of demand for tickets for the Bournemouth game compared to many other fixtures, so there is a reasonable chance it will be a "category A" game, and at the very least a "B game".
  3. It would be the first time in our 130 year history we've finished above Liverpool.

  5. Nope, not at all. It was a case of knowing already last summer how good all the players we kept were and how bad the player quality is to be relegated. We've got a squad of roughly 20 current/recent internationals or notable youth internationals of a good level. No team has ever been relegated with so many. We lost 4 first choice players last summer and spent £70m both replacing them and strengthening squad depth. No team has spent anywhere near that and been relegated in that season. We were light years above being relegation material.
  6. We didn't sell all the players and then make all the new signings, the arrivals and departures were intermixed. The last 5 years have given us a clear idea of Katharina Liebherr's good intentions for the club as she has invested heavily. Its the press that keep running daft stories, despite the evidence of Liebherr's continued investment. Even then if you still had doubts, the appointment of Ronald Koeman as manager in mid June should have been a sign of intent to anyone worried. Koeman wouldn't be here if he knew he wasn't going to be able to strengthen the squad last summer. The five that left, did so to join more glamorous clubs and have large wage rises. We replaced them with lots of established internationals to add to a lot of talented players who stayed who were clearly above the quality of a relegation team. I didn't consider the possibility of relegation at all, I'm surprised so many did.
  7. If Alderweireld, Fonte and Yoshida are all in your line-up it would make more sense to play them as three centre backs, as we have already this season.
  8. Why did you think that? The likes of Fonte, Wanyama, Clyne, Ward-Prowse, Schneiderlin, S.Davis are levels above the quality of a relegation team. Teams don't spent £60m+ on further international players and get relegated. The predictions of relegation last summer were bizarre, Koeman wouldn't be here if he knew he couldn't get high quality players in.
  9. I doubt it would be as simple as that, he is well within his rights to not sign a new contract if he doesn't want to.
  10. That is just hyperbole. Which of his attributes are that of a League One keeper? Have you forgotten how terrible League One keepers are? Forster is one of the best keepers in the Premier League. Very few I'd prefer to have over him.
  11. No, its our stadium and we can't be forced into another club using it. They'd have 3 months to improve media and medical facilities at the stadium. No need to ground share, it can be done in the summer if you throw enough money at it and there is plenty of that in the Premier League.
  12. Why? If we are to still have an outside chance of the top four, I think its better one of them goes on a bad run, we don't need to catch them both. A draw is the one thing I think we shouldn't want as they both pull further away, a defeat keeps one of them closer. It then comes down to which one to win... Man Utd have a tougher on paper remaining set of fixtures OR Man City who are a point closer to us and we face on the final day. Hard to decide between the two, as both have merits.
  13. Saints in the first half vs Hull played in a 4-2-3-1 system with S.Davis in a number 10 role, with Schneiderlin and Wanyama alongside each other... K.Davis Clyne Fonte Alderweireld Bertrand Wanyama Schneiderlin Long S.Davis Mane Pelle Saints ended the Hull game in a 4-3-3 system with Schneiderlin sitting deep and Koeman seemed happier about how we played in the second half... K.Davis Alderweireld Fonte Yoshida Bertrand Schneiderlin Ward-Prowse S.Davis Tadic Elia Pelle For the Stoke game Koeman may want to use the second system, with a few changes. From the players on the pitch at the end of the Hull game - Elia, Tadic and Yoshida making way for Long, Mane and Clyne. 14. Blackpool started 2010/11 season in the Premier League with a 12,000 stadium and improved media facilities over the summer... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/blackpool/7764836/Blackpool-will-start-Premier-League-season-with-12000-stadium-capacity-says-chairman.html
  15. They'd have May, June and July to build it. I'm sure the incentive of the Premier League and all that brings is enough to get it done quickly, even if it is only temporary facilities to start with.
  16. He has never played for Crystal Palace.
  17. They are looking to expand to 18,000... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30169243 Clubs don't have to move out of their stadium to increase capacity.
  18. No, but I think its reasonable to assume the police wouldn't like to manage 20,000+ Bournemouth fans in Southampton 19+ times in a year. Managing 3,000 Bournemouth away fans at St Mary's is one thing, managing a St Mary's and Southampton city centre full of Bournemouth fans on numerous occasions is something very different. Of course its not anywhere near Saints vs Pompey levels of rivalry, but lots of their fans don't like Saints and having them play home games at St Mary's is asking for trouble.
  19. There is no minimum capacity requirement for the Premier League. Even if there was Bournemouth could do the work over the summer. Plus in any case why would Saints agree to a ground share? - Saints don't need the money - Hampshire police wouldn't like 20,000+ Cherries fans in the city 19+ times a year - It doubles the games on the St Mary's pitch
  20. Look on the ticket website. http://tickets.saintsfc.co.uk/PagesPublic/ProductBrowse/VisualSeatSelection.aspx?stadium=SM&product=H14HUL&campaign=&type=H&productsubtype=&productIsHomeAsAway=N
  21. A few things with that... 1) Why do you want to sell him? 2) How could Rangers afford the transfer fee? 3) How could Rangers afford his wages? 4) Why would he want to leave Saints to play for Rangers?
  22. Poor taste Bearsy, poor taste. I am Rod Hull and I want my green jelly.
