  2. If they were average for the Premier League, they'd be in mid table.
  3. Saints have been making regular updates all evening of the game on Twitter.
  4. Some away fans at Ewood Park...
  5. Why? Sunderland have better players than Birmingham.
  6. Monday 20th April.
  7. This side would give Pompey a tricky match and would most likely beat them... Gazzaniga Mugabi McCarthy Wood Targett Gape Reed Gallagher Hesketh McQueen Seager
  8. Blackburn's 1st team have a game tomorrow evening, Saints don't. Looks like Harrison Reed is playing... Harrison Reed ‏@HarrisonReed 2m2 minutes ago Let's go!! First leg tonight at Ewood Park .............. Targett probably will as well.

  10. When Saints beat Sunderland 8-0 and then a week later Bournemouth beat Birmingham 8-0 their chairman Jeff Mostyn stated in the press that Bournemouth win was more impressive as it was away from home. Ignoring that Sunderland are a Premier League side and are better than Birmingham. They'll probably be looking for any little thing like that they can twist next year, but I doubt they'll be 5th in the Premier League after 32 games next season.
  11. "Clinical finisher" just means he is good at shooting. Every team should want someone who is good at finishing moves off with a goal, I don't see how a team can't be "built for that". Regarding Charlie Austin, I've seen a few Saints fans think he is quite small... he is actually only 2 inches shorter than Pelle.
  12. What do you mean by that?
  13. Now this would be entertaining and a disaster waiting to happen... Tony Husband ‏@TonyHusbandBBC 26m26 minutes ago #pompey Steve Claridge says he would do the job in a "heartbeat." https://audioboom.com/boos/3078287-pompey-legend-steveclaridge-talks-to-bbcradiosolent-following-awford-s-departure
  14. They have higher prices for games where they think there is going to be more demand. There will be a lot of demand for tickets for the Bournemouth game compared to many other fixtures, so there is a reasonable chance it will be a "category A" game, and at the very least a "B game".
  15. It would be the first time in our 130 year history we've finished above Liverpool.

  17. Nope, not at all. It was a case of knowing already last summer how good all the players we kept were and how bad the player quality is to be relegated. We've got a squad of roughly 20 current/recent internationals or notable youth internationals of a good level. No team has ever been relegated with so many. We lost 4 first choice players last summer and spent £70m both replacing them and strengthening squad depth. No team has spent anywhere near that and been relegated in that season. We were light years above being relegation material.
  18. We didn't sell all the players and then make all the new signings, the arrivals and departures were intermixed. The last 5 years have given us a clear idea of Katharina Liebherr's good intentions for the club as she has invested heavily. Its the press that keep running daft stories, despite the evidence of Liebherr's continued investment. Even then if you still had doubts, the appointment of Ronald Koeman as manager in mid June should have been a sign of intent to anyone worried. Koeman wouldn't be here if he knew he wasn't going to be able to strengthen the squad last summer. The five that left, did so to join more glamorous clubs and have large wage rises. We replaced them with lots of established internationals to add to a lot of talented players who stayed who were clearly above the quality of a relegation team. I didn't consider the possibility of relegation at all, I'm surprised so many did.
  19. If Alderweireld, Fonte and Yoshida are all in your line-up it would make more sense to play them as three centre backs, as we have already this season.
  20. Why did you think that? The likes of Fonte, Wanyama, Clyne, Ward-Prowse, Schneiderlin, S.Davis are levels above the quality of a relegation team. Teams don't spent £60m+ on further international players and get relegated. The predictions of relegation last summer were bizarre, Koeman wouldn't be here if he knew he couldn't get high quality players in.
  21. I doubt it would be as simple as that, he is well within his rights to not sign a new contract if he doesn't want to.
  22. That is just hyperbole. Which of his attributes are that of a League One keeper? Have you forgotten how terrible League One keepers are? Forster is one of the best keepers in the Premier League. Very few I'd prefer to have over him.
