The standards of coaching set within the Football Development Support Centre at Staplewood are applied at national level. Saints were one of three clubs in Europe used to demonstrate the techniques put into practice at the club's training ground, with these set to be implemented at the FA's new National Football Centre in Burton. So pretty much every other club in England follows what Saints do at an academy level!

I don't like it when clubs use the phase "back where we belong".

He'd be fine for someone in a relegation battle in the Premier League, a return to Hull has been mooted. But Saints will be after a higher quality of player to get in the top half.

Was he? I thought he did quite well for them in a brief loan spell. 4 goals in 14 games for a striker/winger when he only started 6 of those 14 games isn't a bad return.

28 games played and only 1 goal scored for Hull City in the Premier League in 2009/10. He was young, but that still is a poor return.

I don't see it as particularly relevant what Moyes would have done. My point was more that Lambert is a better striker than Jelavic and Anichebe. - Anicebe is 6 foot 3, yes he is fast, but he has only 18 goals in 130 games for Everton! - Jelavic looked appalling at St Mary's

Do you not think Lambert would start for Everton? I do.

Would you honestly want Everton's Steven Naismith over all of them? I wouldn't. The gap between the best Saints XI and the best Everton XI really isn't very great. It is the centre backs, taking too long to start playing Boruc and lack of depth that let us down this season.
