  1. Why? Saints didn't have it between 2001-2005 and how many games did not having it lead to postponements?
  2. Not really surprising giving his background dealing with the accounts of billionaires. When the day does finally come and the Liebherrs' sell up, I trust Nicola to sell it onto another good owner.
  3. It isn't really needed either. In the 9 years at the stadium how many games have been called off at St Mary's due to the pitch? The Huddersfield game last season was more for the safety concerns of supporters around the ground rather than the pitch wasn't it?
  4. I'd like to know more about his plans for the stadium. Can you ask him how big he plans to make the stadium? Which is looking more likely, expand St Mary's or relcoation to a new stadium as mentioned in March 2010 interview? Timeframe for stadium changes? Ultimately where does he see the club ending up under the Liebherr investment? Mid table Premier League? Will there be the finance available to be challenging for European places?
  5. This is why the remaining games in December and those early in January are extremely important. The club needs to show players that they will be joining a team likely to be in the Championship next season in order to attract them to possibly drop down a league.
  6. Probably because they are in negotiations with a company over sponsorship for next season and that company is only interested if Saints are a Championship club in 2011/12. Also if they don't go up this season, Lallana, Lambert, Fonte and Chamberlain will probably go and rebuilding the squad again in League One sets the club back.
  7. I'd say this is new... He did after all have a previous career dealing with the interests of many billionaires, so has contacts. But this shows he isn't just staying because of the Liebherrs, but instead because he wants to see the project through and will get new people on board if it ever came to that.
  8. The safe standing areas in German stadiums still have seating(it just folds away even more so than in all seater stadiums) because they have to for European matches.
  9. 30 second clip of the interview... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/9268990.stm
  10. Saw this on a Newcastle forum. Mike Ashley's interview notes...
  11. I think this may have been triggered by Pardew's imminent appoint at Newcastle and Cortese may want to set things straight (as far as he can) before Pardew's unveiling at any press conference. Also the Sun's rumour would have played a part.
  12. Wear a rose.
  13. "Safe standing" areas has never been in Britain so how is it bringing "it" back? This works very well in Germany and is completely different to traditional terracing. In any case terracing still exists all over Britain in lower league grounds.
  14. The tickets are on sale now. There is a month until the game. If you want your season ticket seat or one close, it would be very easy to get if you book soon. I doubt there will be a massive rush for this game.
  15. Tribunals are for players under 24 that are out of contract (like Ryan Dickson for example) or players yet to sign a professional contract. Chamberlain has signed a 3 year professional contract at Saints, so if Arsenal want him they will have to pay big money for him.
  16. ??? Buying a season ticket... - guarantees you that seat at every league game - gives you priority for away games - gives you priority for big cup games - gives you priority for Wembley finals - allows you to take advantage of the season ticket holder can buy another ticket for £7.50 deal Saints had for 3 league games - most importantly adult season ticket holders pay £396 for Kingsland central seats, meaning each game costs £17 rather than £25/£27. Saving potentially £230 compared with turning up on the day each game.
  17. Because, as the club have stated in the past. They won't respond to every rumour about the club just because it appears in the press. It is a three sentence, unsubstantiated rumour hidden away in a tabloid. Some journalists when they make up bull**** aren't worth even responding to and is a waste of the clubs time and effort to do so.
  18. There have been lots of investigation in the national print media into the Glazer situation and TV doccumentaries. Their US businesses are failing and they are lacking in cash. To believe they are suddenly going to give Fergie £100m plucked from nowhere seems extremely unlikely. This is the same paper that has people worried about the Liebherr's pulling out.
  19. The paper today also contained a story saying the debt ridden Glazers are giving Fergie £100m to spend. This is one of the best supported clubs in the world and the Sun's readership would be interested in the story. Yet it sounds extremely unlikely to be true. Why would they make that up? ANSWER Because Fleet Street is full of crap journalists and the British public keep buying the rags and believing the crap they make up even though most of it is rubbish.
  20. So why 4 days ago did they submit plans for a multi-million training ground development? AND Why over the past few weeks has Adkins been hinting heavily they are spending in January? AND Why did Cortese tell those in the Itchen concourse after a game they will be spending in January?
  21. Hold a press conference and put an article on the OS rather than a three sentence story tucked away (almost hidden) in one papers Monday football pullout?
  22. Well I trust that article and Cortese more than a three line unsubstantiated rumour in The Sun. The same paper contains a story today that the Glazers are giving Fergie £100m to spend. Reliable?
  23. It wasn't just a spokesman, it was Nicola Cortese himself after talking to the family... http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2128238,00.html
  24. Not even the club releasing plans for a multi million training ground development 4 days ago? The same architect firm did Stoke City's training ground in the last 12 months, which is smaller than Saints' planned development in floor plan and it cost Stoke £5m.
