  1. Probably because it was too short notice. He died on Monday night, the Bournemouth game was on Tuesday. The club may have only found out about it on the day of the game.
  2. He died on Monday night, not Wednesday as first believed. So it is likely Cortese and Pardew knew on the day of the Bournemouth game and possibly the team knew aswell. Helps to explain Pardews post match comments and the huddle after the full time whistle.
  3. Shame the last Saints match for him was the Plymouth game and not Bournemouth.
  4. http://www.mali-group.com/en/home/ - As he died on Monday night (and not Wednesday as everyone thought) I'm sure Alan Pardew would have been aware. His post match comments on Tuesday of supporters needing to get behind the team etc - Maybe the team knew aswell, never seen a post match huddle before from Saints. - His daughter has taken over the MALI group, maybe she will take over at Saints as well, with Cortese running it for her (as hinted at on the OS, Telegraph and Guardian)
  5. Les Reed is pretty much Saints Director of Football, just with a slightly different job title. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2025768,00.html He was appointed in April, so I can't see him going and Coppell replacing him. Reed also has far more experience in this kind of role having done similar for the FA at a national level.
  6. Time for Michael Sheen to play Steve Coppell in "The Damned Manchester/Bristol City"?
  7. You can't just base how much tribute someone deserves on length of service. Okay, Liebherr was here for 13 months, but without him there wouldn't be a club. It also seems he will remain funding the club after his death. I'd say that is a pretty significant contribution.
  8. The Preston ones look a million times better than that.
  9. Be nice if the club got a band in for the Leyton Orient game to play this live.
  10. Be nice if the club got a band in for the Leyton Orient game to play this live.
  11. The fourth stand is too small to put a legends image on. Also it is the away end. Wouldn't be a problem at St Mary's.
  12. Preston North End in three of their stands have images using the seats of club legends. Tom Finney, Bill Shankley and Alan Kelly. It certainly looks better than having Friends Provident or flybe.com logos and would give St Mary's a bit more character. Tom Finney & Bill Shankly Stands Alan Kelly & Tom Finney Stands How would you feel if Saints did this for Ted Bates and Markus Liebherr in two stands at St Mary's? Good idea? Leaving the other two stands free to be added in the future if other important Saints figures pass away. Ted and Markus will always be looking down on us from the stands.
  13. That is correct. He did apologise soon afterwards.
  14. Director of Football is pretty much what Les Reed is doing for Saints. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2025768,00.html
  15. Jack Walker set up a trust fund for Blackburn when he learned he had cancer. It continued to invest in the club after his death in 2000 and did so for the next 8 years.
  16. Jack Walker set up a trust fund for Blackburn when he learned he had cancer. It continued to invest in the club after his death in 2000 and did so for the next 8 years.
  17. And how do you know that?
  18. I don't think I've ever seen anyone on this forum say a bad word about Markus.
  19. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/3091521/Southampton-owner-Markus-Liebherr-dies.html Not calling us "South Coast Club" anymore.
  20. When he took over there were rumours he set up a trust fund. I think he knew he didn't have long left and this was him enjoying himself. Seems to be confirmed by this... R.I.P. Thankyou for all you did.
  21. The game is never going to move into giving the option of being a chairman. It is regularly asked for on the official forums, and SI staff say it isn't an area they want to move into. After all it is a football management simulation not a chairman simulator.
  22. It doesn't exist on the PC or Mac for the 2010/11 season (and probably ever again on those platforms).
  23. Yep Wes, that is something which Steve overlooked.
  24. Nope, even that wouldn't be ironic. Nor am I a professional journalist writing editorials that may influence the views of many Saints fans that might not know what is going on. The Echo also said "refusing all photographers access to home matches" and then went on to contradict itself by saying club photographers were present. The whole editorial is littered with errors.
