  1. What a desperate squad. Looking weak at CB, CM and upfront. Practically the whole spine...
  2. I was thinking this the other day, after seeing Akinde's scoring record at Barnet. Anyone got a list of players that have left in the last few years, that have gone on prosper for other clubs? Sonny Bradley & Ricky Holmes also leap to mind.
  3. Sad to see someone who was a great player and manager for us, down on his luck a bit. There will be many players who've played for us in the last 20 years, who didn't have anywhere near the impact as Nicholl, yet will have their feet up on easy street - financially. It seems unfair, but comes with the era.
  4. Bournemouth still would have stayed up that year, as they finished 21st, ahead of Luton, Chester and Grimsby: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008%E2%80%9309_Football_League_Two Still don't see how the Skates avoided this kind of harsh points deduction though.
  5. I genuinely think that this delusion is a factor in their inability to progress from this level. Every player is fed this tripe, about being a 'massive' club, as soon as they get through the door. Do the players then think they have an entitlement to win, as they are so massive?! Other clubs clearly see them for what they are, a Div 4 club - there on merit. If they faced up to that, then they just might be able to use the factors they have to their advantage in this league, to actually progress.
  6. Heard Sparta chants already in Town. They will probably besiege Yates as Vitesse did last year...
  7. Which will make all those 'shareholders' rich, beyond their wildest dreams! A takeover would be quite amusing actually, just for the fact that they own fook all, to dawn on a segment of the phew, that actually believe that they own part of the club.
  8. Maybe they had enough of all the superfans wasting time by starting their questions with, 'I've been a Saints fan for 20/30/40 years...' and pausing, expecting a round of applause.
  9. Remember this. I was 10 and got Kevin Keegan's autograph after the game!
  10. Seriously? Lambert is finished in the PL. May still be able to do a job in the C'ship, and if he wants regular football that's where he'll have to head...
  11. Clubs show absolutely no loyalty to managers or players when they reach the end of their shelf-life. See Adkins, Hammond, Joos, Sharp etc. for all the people we chopped when getting to the promised land and deeming they weren't good enough for us. It's football, it happens. I couldn't give a flying f*ck and I look forward to the new manager and players.
  12. The bookies must be laughing their asses off this season. All the money lumped on the Top 4, straight in their pocket. Also, stories like this one will mean an increase in these sort of bets in the following seasons (more than usual). The bookies also love an underdog...

I'd rather use Smalling/Stones as RB cover, giving us more options upfront/midfield. Clyne has been poor this season by his standards and has (IMO) never really played well for England (even when with us). Walker has been much better this season and has more experience. Realised I didn't even include Lallana in the squad! He's been very poor this year, so a shoo-in.

Hart, Butland, Forster Walker, Bertrand, Baines, Stones, Smalling, Jagielka, Cahill Henderson, Barkley, AOC, Sterling, Alli, Dier, Wilshere, Milner, Walcott Kane, Rooney, Vardy, Sturridge This would be my 23. One thing's for sure, he has the biggest squad selection headache since he came in, and for any England manager for a while. There are players like Carrick/Jones/Welbeck/Shelvey/Delph/Gibbs and injuries like Shaw who could all miss out. We have cover in most areas apart from CB, where we are incredibly weak and I'm not even sold on our first choice pairing.
  15. Surely nothing's changed since good old Cecil's time?
  16. I'd say Forest getting promoted, then winning the League in their first year back ranks better. That and the fact they then went on to win two European Cups in a row.
  17. Where did this 'met her in a club' line come from? Was this peddled by his camp, when he was arrested? All seems a complete load of rubbish now, the evidence is overwhelming. His career is over, ala Ched Evans.
  18. All buy burgers and throw them at the players on 5mins, to signify our displeasure at quality and price?
  19. The major point here is that it is all the laws of supply and demand, particularly as football has shown itself to be completely elastic and non-price sensitive (i.e. you can continue to the push prices up and people will still go). These economic laws don't take into account if your Dad's Dad supported the club. All these laws care about is what you can charge against how many people will pay. It seems that ceiling has yet to be reached. You can't hark on about clubs creating a buy-in a 100 years ago, as it's completely irrelevant. If prices were suddenly £20 a ticket, there would be so much demand that the clubs would be over-run by demand, it would also make Premier League football extremely accessible and the PL don't want that. The product remains a premium product due to the price that is charged and the exclusivity that generates. I'm sure everyone would like to walk around in Armani, but not everyone can afford it. So, I'm sorry, but you think it's too much - don't go. That's what I've done. I had a Season Ticket for 5yrs from Lge 1 to Prem, but jacked it in as I didn't think it was worth the money. I'm pretty sure someone has taken my place - the law of supply and demand and I'm not crying about it.
  20. This is a completely fictitious brand of football. Dreamt up by delusional fans, supporting a club, who in reality have won f*ck all in their history.
  21. If it was fantastically run people would still find things to moan about. The club could set up a set-up a service where each customer was noshed off by a beauty before each match and people would still moan that some other matey's bird could deep-throat better...
  22. The fact that we struggled to have anyone decent in centre midfield for years, after he got injured - shows how good/consistent he was. It took til League 1 and Morgan/Hammond to get a similar consistency in that position.
  23. Scoring one goal means nothing. I remember Jordan Robertson scoring an absolute worldy at a much higher level (C'ship) - have a look and see how his career has panned out.
  24. I think we signed him due to the various injuries. With Gardos out long-term, Bertrand out short-term, no-cover at RB with a new untried RB coming in and a youngster as cover at LB, it made sense to try and sign a utility player (just should have been a better one). We couldn't have been that convinced, as he only got a 2yr deal - didn't he? Which is strange for the PL at his age and goes against the general policy of improving the squad. He'll end up on loan to a Dutch club next season.
  25. Which frankly, is a load of rubbish. I don't remember any Saints/Pompey fans getting their throats cut. The added religious element to that derby makes it much more hateful and dangerous. http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/12602416.Celtic_fan___s_murderer_preparing_for_release_from_jail/
