  1. That’s never going to happen, imagine if they did? Imagine what demand would be like, there’d be a massive waiting list, plus a bun fight every time tickets were released for home games (as tickets would be, what about £15?). You’d get family members taking over ST’s even when the holder has died (as happens at Utd and L’pool). It would annoy more people who couldn’t get an ST, than are annoyed now because they are priced out. You can’t just breeze in and chop something by 50%.
  2. Brighton apparently enquired last season and reportedly didn’t want to pay the £18-£20k p/w he was on. If Barnard landed up on £14k due to our rise to the Prem. It must have been around this reported figure, at least.
  3. Just been on SSN that we've made an a enquiry for Shane Long. Would cost a pretty penny given he only moved to Hull recently. Could be a good signing though.
  4. I agree to a certain extent, but what era would that have been? The 70s or 80s? As a kid in the 90s I watched as for successive seasons our best players were sold: 1989/90 - D. Wallace 1990/1 - R. Wallace 1991/2 - Shearer, Ruddock, Horne 1993/4 - Flowers 1994/5 - Kenna Not only that but replaced with utter dross in most cases. Whilst this season is akin to losing all these players in one go, would we really have mounted a title challenge at any point? Even if we'd kept our best players? With the might of the top clubs, I find this doubtful at best. Football bought into this direction the moment it whored itself out to Sky. The big clubs were always going to benefit from the Globalisation Sky could facilitate and the small clubs were always going to suffer. As fans we've all bent over and taken it, lapped up all the live games that were never there before. As a club our size, the best you can hope for is to stay in the top league. Anything else is a bonus. You can have no expectation or ambition - that's the sad position we're in.
  5. All I can see Les jetting back from Portugal with is 'una botella de vino rojo', not much else...
  6. I agree with your sentiment, mostly. However, there were plenty of whipping boys in the Dell relegation battle era. Benali, Cockerill, Dowie, Beasant (when he first came here) all got loads of stick. TBF though, I can't remember fans booing their own players when they came on or giving ironic cheers when the GK caught the ball or anything like that...
  7. If I didn't know your posting style, I'd think you were being serious...
  8. Not quite the same is it? 1) Shaw, Ward-Prowse & Clyne had already made a number of appearances the season before. 2) Wanyama cost £12m. FFS. 3) Reed made a couple of cameos and is yet to make his full league debut. 4) Gallagher made little impact and looks too raw for the EPL at this stage. Chambers is the only player who came from nowhere and established himself. Are you expecting 3/4 to do it this season?
  9. A player who can play more than one position? I think Forster has played CB before - cover in case Lovren goes?
  10. When I heard Rooney touted as the next captain, I thought - Really? FFS. Then I thought, who is there with any level of experience that should be captain? Cahill? Is he captain material? Was he at Bolton? Jagielka's not good enough. There's no-one in CM with any experience now. I wouldn't give to Hart either - he needs to concentrate on GK'ing. Flags up how poor our squad is at this moment in time. As the English fan loves a player that runs around aimlessly showing 'heart' - maybe Rooney is a good fit. Either that or call-up Lee Cattermole and make him captain...
  11. Norwich signed Snodgrass, Johnson, Howson & Becchio from Leeds over a few seasons. That worked out well...
  12. A nice gesture no doubt. However, the England team donate ALL their money for EVERY single international to charity. Not well publicised though is it? That's because it's a bigger story to call them overpaid, greedy, lazy etc. etc.
  13. Is this where Katharina spends her summers?
  14. I swear that he's raised something like this before? Not sure what the fuss is about, as I saw it as old news. Good to see Gerrard has called him out though. Let's hear some names then Harry...
  15. I spoke to a contractor a few weeks ago, who said this was being installed at the stadium over the summer. Pretty reliable source as he was checking the quality of the electrical installation.
  16. The standard of English should tell you everything you need to know about this article. Probably written by a Work Experience kid, as everyone who can - has fooked off to Brazil.
  17. I won't be satisfied until I hear stories of Krueger whipping out a Zippo in front of a player and burning the offer. He has to up his game and go one better than Cortese...
  18. Wow - £20 off. Going to take some time to claw back that £1k 'investment'.
  19. Some people really take the rivalry far too seriously. Sheringham was a terrific player to watch, the sort of player you pay to see. So what if he played for our insignificant rivals at the back end of his career.
  20. I'm not renewing now. Not expensive enough.
  21. 1. Flowers 2. Dodd 5. Ruddock 6. Lovren 3. Shaw 4. Case 8. Schneiderlin 10. Lallana 11. Rod Wallace 9. Lambert 7. Le Tissier Manager: Chris Nicholl I've just included the players I enjoyed watching the most. How Rod Wallace doesn't get in more teams I'll never know - he was brilliant for us, a joy to watch and eclipsed Le Tiss on occasions.
  22. When you make snap judgements about people when you know little about them, this is is usually attributed to 'projection'. Do you think you are a bellend, or maybe you think other people think you are. Something to consider...
  23. It's comments like this that keep me coming back to this thread. Well done, sir. Simple but effective...
  24. I used to have that as a kid. It was like a 2nd skin until I grew out of it!
  25. Hmmm. Have we had a bye in the 5th round then? Otherwise, really not worth thinking about til the end of the game on Sat...
