Doubt it. The time for real salvation became before that. He chose El Tel and the bright lights of London over Fergie at Utd - right at the last minute too. Fergie thought he was going to sign. If he'd stayed at Utd his whole career - he probably wouldn't be in this mess now. All hypothetical, of course...

That is unbelievable. This was also interesting: Surely this should have been listed as an asset? Would you really have a painting worth that much money in the boardroom? If so, Chinny probably swiped that years ago.
-
Agreed. I think he'd be a very good signing for us and he'd also be able to give Fonte his pants back...

The 'who's been rejected for season ticket finance' thread
Saint Mikey replied to lordswoodsaints's topic in The Saints
If you take out any form of credit and cannot repay it - that is your fault, fullstop. Doesn't matter if you have been struck down by a terminal illness - you have reneged on an agreement. It's quite simple really and there are so many people out there, looking to blame other people and don't want to take responsibility for their own decisions. -
You need to read 'I am the Secret Footballer' for this type of info. It mostly goes through agents...

Off topic, but this is why prices will continue to go up. As people (myself included) will continue to bend over and take it, as it's ingrained in you. Until people stop going to games, prices will continue to rise. Football must be one of the most Price Inelastic businesses around, along with petrol, alcohol and smokes.

Agreed. It's like fan phone-ins, or self-appointed media whores from redundant supporters groups. Would people say they are representative? He who shouts loudest (or, in the case of this site - the most).

That's what everyone said when Pardew was given the job and they finished 5th. Therefore, I reckon they'll win the league this season...

Southampton's 5 Best and Worst Transfer Signings of the Past 15 Years
Saint Mikey replied to Rebel's topic in The Saints
Thinking about the amount of players we’ve signed in the last 15 years, seems slightly odd that everyone seems pretty much agreed on the best 5 (especially on this forum!). Is it indicative that we’ve wasted an awful lot of money and/or a lot of signings haven’t actually set the world alight (or, been utter gash)? Or, are many clubs the same, and you only get this amount of players that make this sort of impact on the team and club, within this time period? -
Fair play. At least he can buy some trainers that match his age, rather than wearing his teenage son's...

Black people also used to make excellent scapegoats. It's more difficult to pass your crimes off these days. Just making the OP aware, as this will undoubtedly affect his decision.

Damn Mandela for taking away those white people privileges...

How far are we off a Top 6 place (fifth or sixth in all reality)?

Let's be fair. I love Rickie and he's been great for us. But, he isn't fit enough to lace Sheringham's boots and comparing him to Berbatov is like comparing Fox to Ashley Cole. FFS. -
He did a bit. Talked about playing with fantastic young players, Le Tiss, Shearer and Wallaces. Also talked about Lawrie Mac signing him and then leaving straight away.

Played his best football at LM, swapping with Bridgey though...

I take it this is a joke? Palmer was decent for us, but played, what a season and half? Telfer played mostly RM and McLoughlin was a load of toss and a complete disappointment, given he was the clubs record signing and first £1m player (if I remember correctly).

Just listened to an interview with Jimmy on Keys & Gray (podcast from yesterday). What a signing he was for £30k. Not sure if we've had a player that can rival his combined hard work, toughness and ability since he left? I know the game has moved on since then, but the only CM's I can think of that have made a sustained impression on our team has been: Oakley and the current pair of Schneiderlin & Cork. We've had so much dross in there for 20-odd years.

What's the first bit to this chant? Nice to hear something 'new'. By new, I mean more than likely stolen from Utd.
-
Are you saying Veron was a poor player? Lol. He may have not lived up to his price tag at Utd, but he was a brilliant player over his career. On the subject of Wellbeck, to start games for Utd in the CL against teams like Real, and score - you have to have something about you. Consistency is what he needs...

What's the fuss? Apart from the blip in 1971, the FA have always done what's right for the Women's game: http://www.thefa.com/GetIntoFootball/Players/PlayersPages/WomensAndGirls/History_of_womens_football.aspx 1921 - The FA's finest hour...

What's worse is that Wellbeck, Cleverley, Milner, Smalling, Jones, Walcott, Chamberlain etc are the 'future' of the National team. Decent top flight players, but never ever going to win us anything...

Good article and Podcast on BBC y'day, dispelling the myth of how much good we actually do when 'voluteering' abroad... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-22294205

Carrick actually turned Woy down in 2012, as he didn't want to go as a Squad player. I would suggest that that has a lot of bearing of his current non-selection and hence his quote...
