  1. Snodgrass is exactly the type of player we should be after. Young, and wants to step up to the Prem - is also Leeds' captain. In his last year of contract, so won't cost an absolute fortune. Although prob still between £3m and £4m. If that article on the BBC isn't angling for a move, I don't know what is...
  2. Where did I say it was ok to vandalise it? I said, you're giving some pikey c*nt an open goal, if you put something like that on your car. Have a think about it, or is common sense too tough for you?
  3. No sympathy. Anyone who puts anything in or on their car that shows allegiance to any football club, opens themselves up to this sort of vandalism.
  4. What's the matter JPTC? You sound tense. Fancy a pint down the London Arms??
  5. Test Park is a Wessex standard pitch, they're not going to let any Tom, **** or Harry rent it out I'm afraid. As for Hardmoor, I'm not sure, but you could always phone Solent and ask. PM me if you need a contact name or number.
  6. Just what I was thinking. Although with Walcott's, before we cashed it in - it was 20 England competitive starts. I doubt he's got that yet...
  7. Why do you think we did this before and other clubs adopt this policy? It must be for cashflow reasons. We obviously have no cash flow issues, so no need to subsidise ST's for no reason - when they will sell anyway. New ST's go on sale about the 2nd July, renewals the 6th. Last season, prices were released at the end of June and went on sale mid-July. So this is an improvement, although I can't personally see why they can't get the info out now...
  8. I remember going to a Spurs reserve game when a lot of people where there, not sure if it was 10k. I remember Stephane Dalmat played for Spurs and stuck out like a sore thumb - he was so much better than anyone else on the pitch. Didn't ever do much for their 1st team mind you...
  9. Was his reputation really tainted by his managerial spell? He had big shoes to fill, but did well considering the lack of investment in the team (compared to McMenemy) and having to sell his best players. No manager has achieved a higher finish since 89/90 - 7th.
  10. Apparently Izale McCleod has signed a pre-contract agreement if they survive. Signing players, when they should be getting rid of them - have they got away with it again?
  11. There was a story going round about a plank who did this at my school - is he fat?
  12. Why? You paid for entertainment and definitely got value for money. The sooner people accept that football is a business with zero sentiment the better - as it has been like that for years and isn't about to change. Also let me ask you these questions: 1) Is there a precedence for this, i.e. has another club ever introduced such a scheme? 2) How do you work out the criteria? Is it fans who had ST's in both years in Lge 1 & C'ship? What about just one year in Lge 1, or just the C'ship? Starts getting complicated... I've had an ST for the last 3 seasons, so would qualify. However, it isn't going to happen, nor should it. The club is a business and I bet the same fans demanding 'loyalty reward' will also want the club to splash out on new players - the two don't add up.
  13. What about when you get a point at your fiercest rivals, but you're still staring relegation and possible liquidation in the face? Surely, an open top bus tour is the only way to commemorate this huge feat?
  14. Anyone know more about the verdict? Why he's been sent down, but not the other guy? That's really put the kibosh on his career, was doing well too. He'll get another club when he's released in 2 1/2 years or so, but he'll have to start at Lge 2.
  15. I used to deliver papers to that block as a paperboy, c.1993. Used to live just down the road, decent area (to make the post worthwhile!).
  16. TBF, that's quality!
  17. I would echo a lot of people and say: Phillips/Burke C.Davies Whittingham However, we'll be bent over for a fee on Phillips, and most likely bent over for wages on Whittingham. Anyone thought why no-one's bought him the last few seasons, despite bagging double figures from midfield? He's got to be on Prem wages, and doesn't actually care about moving. Not sure I'd want to be paying him £30k+ a week. I see some have mentioned Zaha, I thought Palace turned down £7m from Bolton in Jan! He can't be worth that... Saying all this, it is a balancing act getting quality in and getting value for money. Swansea and Norwich managed it. Norwich even managed to get two players out of League 1 last season, but can't see that happening this season...
  18. Pro footballer on thousands a week with fit bird shocker...
  19. Very good article, although obviously written by a Saints fan. Jeremy Wilson also wrote Southampton's Cult Heroes, which is a very good read. It's all a nice idea, but something's going to have to change in the way football clubs are run generally for us to have success with this. Maybe a lot of clubs will look at how Swansea, Norwich and even Newcastle have got success by building a team, rather than doing a QPR. This may bring down player trading, excessive wages. However, still don't know how this will stop our best players and/or manager being poached. Look at the press attention Rodgers has got after a little sniff of success. The only way we'll keep players is if we start winning things. At least this article didn't mention the Champions League! I'm embarrassed by the mere suggestion that we could make it into that comp...
  20. Anyone know where the PFA Free Transfer list has gone? Can't seem to find it anymore. Would be interesting to see the type of players they could replace some of their top earners with. Webber just signed for Leeds a couple of weeks ago, and did OK against us - an ex-player too.
  21. That thread is amazing...
  22. World Cups and Copa Mundials are the best boots ever, IMO. You're lucky if Copa's last a season to be honest, but that's the type of boot they are. Getting a 'hardier' boot would go against the reason why you'd be wearing Copa's?! Just aswell buy some Predators, or whatever they sell these days. Plus, the shape of Puma Kings really aren't the same at all. I reckon you'd regret buying them when you start shanking balls out of play and blaming the boots!
  23. If we are hammering them, the best thing will be that the fans have to stay and take it. No shimmying off with their tail between their legs at 3nil - the OB won't allow it: 'take your medicine chaps, you deserve it'.
  24. And when they realise how poor that standard of football is, with players, teams and grounds that no-one has heard of. The appeal will be lost on anyone apart from the hardcore, especially as that level of footy isn't that cheap considering the level. AFC Totton want £9 a game for the 8th Tier!
