  1. Hi all, Off to Nottingham this weekend. Anyone know what its like for a night out? I remember hearing the old chestnut about there being 4 girls to every bloke but I don't believe that for a second. I've heard it gets a bit punchy. Anyone advise on places to go, places to avoid and all that jazz? Will be wanting to watch the Haye fight as well so somewhere likely to be showing that would be good too. Cheers!
  2. Soul Cellar plays all that. Bit of a ****hole but a good night.
  3. 157,000,000 EUR FFS. If that isn't new worthy I dont know what is. A clear sign of intent from the club.
  4. You rated Chris Sutton? Pretty sure that says more about you than me. He was horse $hit, happened to play up front with Shearer in his best, most destructive years. That would have made any strike partner look half decent. The same way Sergei Rebrov looked good for Dynamo Kiev all those years ago when Shevchenko was running riot.
  5. Not running from anyone but happy to take fights with Audley Harrison and John Ruiz. Haye has a lot more to prove than Klitschko does.
  6. Go! Team - please. Famous because of their videos. Music is ****e. Not a massive fan of Coldplay but anyone who argues their performance was trumped by anything else on the Pyramid this year is just simply wrong. Viva La Vida was awe inspiring.
  7. Maynard without a shadow of a doubt. He's the quickest of all three and his all round game is the best.
  8. I think Delgado surely has to win the biggest flop awards. Great goals record in South America and at international level but just never wanted to be here. Never forget him tearing Arsenal a new one once though. He obviously had talent and was actually a nice guy. I speak a bit of Spanish and spent a few hours once in Ikon with him, helping him chat up birds. Biggest low expectation/come good probably split between Chris Marsden and Kevin Richardson who I thought was exactly what the team needed. Marsden wins it though because he was superb for 3 seasons.
  9. It's all about Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai. For me, Jiu Jitsu has the edge.
  10. Great signing if true. Would rather Maynard but given they signed him for over £2.2m a couple of years ago and his stock has only risen since then, this is a more realistic option. I seem to remember Billy being quite "sharp". Perhaps not electrifying pace but busy enough. He's scored plenty of goals in pretty average sides as well. Hopefully with the likes of Lallana, Morgan and Alex OC giving him ammunition he could be quality. £3m on a striker when a defender and another central midfielder are clearly the priorities, to me signals our intent. Very happy if this is true.
  11. A willing runner and a try-er but technically, he was gash. Effort will get you very far in football though, which is why I rated him.
  12. This will no doubt annoy the fence rattlers and pompey fans allergic to steps.
  13. Name someone in the last season that has done "the business" as you put it against Barcelona. I stand by what I say. 75% of the sides competing in the Champions League are mid table Premier League standard as best. The 2 also rans from Spain every season, any team from France that isn't Lyon, pretty much any German side, any Dutch side, none of the Italian sides would finish top 4 in England (Obviously Inter would have under Mourinho). That's why I dont get it. It's over-rated and is only interesting when the likes of Man Utd, Barcelona and Real Madrid play eachother.
  14. Is that you Deppo?
  15. Chris Sutton? He was $hite anyway.
  16. I'm not sure I could do her, knowing full well I was having a go on an S Club Junior.
  17. and Tommy Forecast if recent rumours on here are to be believed...
  18. Was just doing my squad on another thread for the SFC Masters 8 and put Paul Jones in. It got me thinking... Niemi was in my opinion a superior 'keeper but because of this I feel a lot of people, myself included, don't pay enough credit to Paul Jones. I thought he was an excellent club servant, never let us down and in fact, probably won us more points with some of his performances between 1998 and 2001/2 than most of the other players in our squad. I also remember him bizarrely being loaned to Liverpool as an emergency loan and getting a few games for them. Because he helped Liverpool out, I seem to re-call him being immensely popular among Liverpool fans. Aside from that dodgy '50' he had shaved in to his hair on his 50th game for Wales, I thought he was an excellent keeper and massively under-rated.
  19. Paul Jones (Niemi was a great keeper but Jones was a fantastic servant and never let the club down) Ken Monkou Francis Benali Jason Dodd Chris Marsden Ronnie Ekelund Matt Le Tissier Alan Shearer That would do me nicely!
  20. Sales dont seem to be going well...

  22. Whats this fixation with The Champions League? 3/4 of the sides in it are mid table standard in the Premier League at best. The fact Shearer scored such a monstrous amount of goals without playing for Man Utd makes his record even more impressive. His goals record will stand the test of time which in my opinion puts him up there with THE very best strikers in history.
  23. Is that his geeky shrill voice that sings matter-of-factly "We are goin' up"?

  25. You seem to be basing your opinion of Lambert on last season, which I'm sure even he would admit was a poor season by his standards, yet he still scored around 25 goals. The season before he carried this team. He has excellent technique for a player that has played his entire career in the bottom 2 divisions and is capable of scoring from anywhere. I'd rather have a player with that ability than Mackail-Smith. Yes, he had a good season last year but I liken scoring bags of goals for Peterborough to scoring bags of goals in the Tyro league. Looks great on your stats but not much use when you are losing 5-3 and drawing 4-4 every other week. He scored goals because he played in a team that went gung-ho in every game. As a team, they created lots of chances but also gave away loads too.
