Never. Its a great tune. My best mate at the time was a metal head who hated all things in the chart no matter how good it might have been. The kind that instantly started disliking the likes of KoRn, Slipknot, Marilyn Manson etc... the minute they seemed to get a bit of cross over success. I played Slight Return to him and he loved it though. Sadly he died a few years ago at the tender age of 21 because he turned in to a very silly man but the song reminds me of growing up with him and brings back some very funny, happy memories.

Hardest ****ing Years/Schools in Southampton...
sambosa75 replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Lounge
It's all about Thornden. We had a school of nutters next door called Pitmore. We'd just set them lose on you whilst we play Tennis or perhaps take in a show in the Arts theatre. -
Did he do anything other the take the ****? I dont think he was ever nasty to anyone. Just very sarcastic. I enjoyed his input.

Even Capello does it. There was an article about it in the Guardian about a month ago. Apparently it is something that is taught to budding politicians by media experts. It implies an air of authority and fact in what you are saying and apparently sub-conciously encourages the person being spoken to accept it as fact and not query what has been said. At least this is what I was told when I arksed a media expert.

Did I put a gun to your head and tell you to register? The company is valued at £1.4bn so they must be doing something right. At the end of the day, you opted in to receiving emails from them and all they are doing is sending you the emails that you have asked for. I will concede though that they are becoming victims of their own success. I have actually left them now, otherwise I would have happily asked for your email and had your name removed from the mailing list. You know, the one you opted in to being on. Much love xxx

2 pages. Never more. People who read CVs will not read through pages and pages to find what they are looking for. They will scan CVs and if they dont find what they are looking for, the CV goes on the "No" pile. Much better chance they will find what they are looking for in 2 simple pages.

Mates sister did a kiss and tell on Kevin Pietersen at the height of his fame, post ashes 2005. Made enough money from the story to pay off her student debts and a deposit on a house. She later admitted to me she'd never even met KP... Priceless

Not true. Brand identity is very important and Coca-Cola's association with FIFA could potentially damage their associations with other companies too. Why would a company want to be associated with Coca-Cola when they are seen as backing a corrupt organisation such as FIFA? It's not just about the people buying the product in the shop.
-
All jokes aside, why does FIFA actually exist? At what point did the FA, considering the game was invented in England and we were the first nation to have leagues and cup competitions etc.. decide they wanted another organisation to run football on a global scale... anyone know?

How have you worked that out? His last season at Man Utd he scored 44 goals and his goals record at Real Madrid is 66 goals in 63 games. That's 1.05 goals EVERY game he has played for 2 seasons in La Liga.

Mods please can we move this thread to the lounge. I feel this is a topic that deserves more serious input. -
People go on as if Barcelona is a team that is just full of academy products throughout. Whilst a lot of the players are, lest we not forget the likes of Alves, Abidal, Mascherano, Villa, Maxwell, Keita and Milito were all signed for fees ranging from £15m to £45m. Whilst producing players through the academy such as Puyol, Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Pedro and Messi is no mean feat, it has been augmented with massive amounts of investment that has seen the club ploughed in to all kinds of debt.

I dont think Messi has the skill or vision that Lallana possesses. He might be quicker but Lallana makes up for it with his other attributes. Lallana probably wouldnt have scored yesterday from where Messi did. But saying that, he would have beaten Ferdinand with a neat lolly-pop and deft feint and then nutmegged Vidic before dinking the ball over the on-rushing Van Der Sar. He'd have also celebrated a lot more reservedly, perhaps a gentleman's hand shake with Dean Hammond before running back to his half to resume the game. It's likely also that Lallana would have got the assists for the other goals yesterday too.... and picked up Rooney's run from deep for the Man Utd goal, intervening with a last minute slide tackle to nip the ball off Rooney's toes before getting back up and architecting a break attack, probably also ending up as a goal.

Barbecue Kettle Chips all they way. I'm a man of expensive taste. I have been known to slum it with a bag of picled onion space invaders though.

Similar story, I was in Winch visiting my Mum when the Skates where playing Spurs in the FA Cup semi final last year. Thought I'd pop up a pub called The Exchange as it would have a bit of atmosphere but would all be cheering for Spurs. How wrong I was. Full of skates, singing anti Southampton songs. Literally made my blood boil that no-one seemed to care.

To be fair, the groom would expect nothing less.

A season ticket holder since he was 6. He's 26 now, so you could say he's a fan! How did you go about getting the card signed? I think it might be a little late for that now the season has finished but worth looking in to... To be fair, I'm not really concerned with nerves etc... I'm more concerned with not drinking until the speech is delivered so it isnt a slurred, drunken shambles! I was thinking brides maid's and all that jazz first too.

Hi all, I am best man for my best mates wedding in July. Stag is all booked up, we fly in 3 weeks to the day. I've known him since play school and he's like a brother so I want to give him a quality speech. I've not got a problem with public speaking, I'm pretty confident and will know everyone at the wedding more or less. I've also got a few gags and anecdotes lined up but am looking for tips on structure. I want to try and keep the speech about 7-10 minutes long but need to know when I should be acknowledging the brides maids and all that. If anyone can help with any advice, it would be much appreciated. Cheers, Sam(bosa75)

After getting beaten at the Riverside by Middlesborough... Reporter: "What were the main areas where they beat you today?" WGS: "The big green one out there..." Regarding the original post, his actually answer was "No, they should have gone for George Graham."
