  1. Our very own Jason Puncheon being another good example.
  2. Will imagine he'd want a fair wedge. Showed a lot of promise in the early stages of his career and has had a good spell here before. Not sure its an area we need to strengthen as I dont think Kelvin or Bart are in any hurry to leave us.
  3. That isnt the debate. I've already said that. Bale is probably the best left sided player in the world right now. As I said before, it's not even up for arguing. As MLG said though, it doesnt mean there arent certain things Lallana does better. Having quick feet and beating players with close ball control is not something Bale does. It is however exactly how Lallana relies on beating people. It's like saying because Messi is the best player in the world he MUST be better in the air than Andy Carroll.
  4. I dont think it's up for debate who the better player is, without a shadow of a doubt its Bale. All I am saying is Lallana is more comfortable dribbling with the ball at his feet whereas Bale relies heavily on touching the ball past his opponent in to space and then beating them to the ball in a race a la Aaron Lennon but with an infinitely better end product. I do happen to think though that Lallana is the sort of player who could do a job for any team. If he had better quality players around him it would just make him a better player. As has been the case with Bale.
  5. No he doesnt. He's serving a 2 year stretch apparently!
  6. My reasoning is that Bale tends to push the ball past players and then beat them to it with his blistering pace and lung-bursting stamina. I would argue Lallana is a superior dribbler in the old fashioned, ball-stuck-to-your-feet sense of the word. Nothing wrong with how Bale does it. It's effective and beautiful to watch but you are more likely to see Lallana dribble round players in the centre of the field without relying on pace than Bale. Bale can do it on the left because the wings are much less congested. Try doing what Bale does in the centre of the park and his run would get stopped a lot more often by centre backs and midfielders. Thats my point and I think its valid.
  7. I'd rather there was no mention of Lallana. He seems to have gone largely under the radar purely because he doesnt happen to have lightning pace. For me, out of Bale, Walcott and Lallana, Lallana is the one with the ability on the ball.
  8. rounders with gloves though innit?
  9. Cant really blame him. Just because he's been told he wont play doesnt stop him being a fan. I actually think its refreshing hearing a player come out and say what he thinks for a change. As you say, it's not like he's wrong!
  10. My sister has been for a few nights out with him. She reckons he couldnt me a more lovely, charming bloke. Genuinely. Got the drinks in, got involved in the banter and didnt give it the big I AM at all. Admittedly this is since he has been tee total so he was drinking soft drinks. Amazing the effect alcohol can have on some people. That said, he has been top class this season. I cant think of a better English midfielder on form over the season and I include Jack Wilshere in that. So he's got involved in a few punch ups whilst bevied up. Ashley Cole shot someone FFS and still gets in the England side. I'd have him in there without a doubt.
  11. I reckon I could probably knock one out watching Barcelona play football. Its just so f(_)cking sexy.
  12. Cant imagine there being many better left backs than Dan Harding this season either.
  13. I just thought of a porn star and it guessed I was thinking of a porn star in 4 questions but eventually got it wrong!
  14. I was thinking Rowan Atkinson and it guess David Jason on my first go.
  15. Because I have supported Saints for almost 30 years and know that we dont do things the simple way. We are likely to drop points between now and the end of the season. If we are to lose a match it will probably be the Brighton game as their fans will be up for it and the players will be motivated. It could well be the game that crowns them as champs. I've not done the maths. I also think Brighton will be home and hosed by the time Huddersfield play them which is why I have them down for a draw as Brighton will want to avoid defeat but might not try as hard for the win. I think the Huddersfield and MK Dons match will be a cagey affair as both teams will know if they attack and leave space at the other side has the ability to pick them off. As for Peterborough's results, I also think they are unlikely but it's a worst case scenario for Saints. I couldnt give a monkeys how they perform between now and the end of the season as long as they dont achieve more than the 16 points I have forcasted for them.
  16. Pretty sure I had it down at going right to the wire. If we lose to Walsall and Peterborough win at home to Dag & Red, they'll go up.
  17. I was just coming on here to start a thread about exactly the same thing. Just done the predictor now. One thing that strikes me is how tough Huddersfield's run-in is. Huddersfield results: Peterborough Home 2-2 Charlton Away 2-1 Win MK Dons Away 1-1 Dag & Red Home 2-0 Win Brighton Away 1-1 Brentford Home 2-0 Win 3 Wins, 3 Draws = 12 more points. 4th place with 85 Points. Peterborough results: Hudderfield Away 2-2 Plymouth Home 2-0 Win Leyton Orient Away 2-1 Win Yeovil Home 2-0 Win Rochdale Away 2-1 Win Dag & Red Home 2-0 Win 1 Draw, 5 Wins = 16 more points. 3rd place with 86 Points. Saints results: Leyton Orient Away 1-1 Rochdale Away 2-1 Win Bristol Rovers Home 3-1 Win Brighton Away 2-1 Loss Hartlepool Home 2-0 Win Brentford Away 1-1 Plymouth Away 2-1 Win Walsall Home 2-1 Win 5 Wins, 2 Draws and 1 Loss = 17 more points. 2nd on 88 Points. Brighton win league with 101 points. MK Dons (5th - 79 points) and Bournemouth (6th - 75 points) make up the rest of the play off contenders. I've tried keeping my predictions pretty realistic hence the loss at Brighton and the draws to Leyton Orient and Brentford. We are bound to drop a few points we shouldnt between now and the end of the season.
  18. I'd love to see Sunderland and Villa go down. Both with massive wage bills, decent squads on paper but have totally underperformed. Particularly Aston Villa.
  19. I'm here all week.
  20. Didnt Shakhtar beat them at the Nou Camp in the group stages? Or was that last season? Either way, Shakhtar are no mugs and it should be a good contest. I still expect Barca to progress but Shakhtar are in with a good shout.
  21. Presumably rather wrinkly though one would imagine.
  22. I remember watching a Chelsea game when Mourinho was manager. Think it might have been against Newcastle. All through the game Drogba and Robben would come back for corners, looking as if they were marking up players, filling the box with Chelsea players whilst just one of the oppositions full backs stayed back as there was no apparent threat. All of a sudden before the corner was taken, they'd bomb it up the pitch, gambling that Cech would claim and quickly distribute or Terry or Carvalho would win a booming header and start a quick counter attack. I noticed they seemed to do it every time the other team had a corner and eventually they scored the winner from doing it. I think it's quite clever if you have a couple of players able to make those kind of quick, lung-bursting runs.
  23. In my experience its usually a cry for attention.
  24. 2.24 of my life I will never get back.
  25. Despite losing his arms, Lambert was like a dog with two d!cks after Barnards winner.
