Any chance we can go back to red & white stripes next season. We surrendered badly this season and not helped that we've looked like a bunch of white flags running around.

Let's look at experience of getting promotion in the previous 3 Championship seasons the managers have been. Marco Silva - still at Fulham Scott Parker - available (2 promotions in 3 Championship seasons with Fulham & Bournemouth) Steve Cooper - still at Forest Daniel Farke - manager of Borussia Monchengladbach Xisco Munoz - available Thomas Frank - still at Brentford Marcelo Bielsa - manager of Uruguay Slaven Bilic - available So potentially 3 of 8 attainable but would we want any? Scott Parker has been ridiculed by some on here yet 2 promotions in 3 years would seem to say he knows how to get out of Championship.

In 05 I was absolutely devastated. I think it was because I always thought we'd get out of it like we always had throughout the 90's. This season I never felt we'd get out of it. Some at the club seem to have been arrogantly sleep walking into it since Ralph departure. I thought that was the right choice as I was excited by who could come in. When Nathan Jones was appointed I was scared, and when he went to give Ruben the reigns for his first managerial job was irresponsible.

Because we end up with the likes of James Bree & Guido Carillo

Some of these comments are a tad over the top. He has a good goalscoring record but have his teammates here actually created a chance for him? The crossing last night from every one of our players was abysmal. We may as well not played with strikers as we don't get the ball to them. It's been a problem for so long. We had so much possession last night but pointless when you do bugger all with it.

Cant be any worse than Adam Armstrong whose decision making when getting into good positions is awful. Panic buy, yes, I dont think he was on our shortlist at the start of the window but it was a case of try something could you imagine the backlash if the board hadn't got a striker in again? interestingly Genk have only picked up 9 out of 21 points since he's left and are starting to look over their shoulders a bit.

The cup game against Bolton remains the only game I have ever gone to leave before the final whistle. I remember going with my dad and sister, I must have been 8 we were heading to the exit when Horne hit this and we ended up sitting in completely different seats for the extra time. I swore i'd never leave early again and havent even when being tonked by several goals.

Orsic won't be able to play if he was out with concussion, think concussion protocols are 10 days. Would like to see Alcaraz, DCC start. I don't think we should move too much from what Ruben wants to go with at Leicester they need to start gelling a confidence boosting few goals from open play would be nice.

Apart from the fact he let it roll across his feet without attempting to kick the fucking ball whilst totally blocking his keepers view. Definitely not his fault!!

My 13 year old wants to know what that words are to the "we've got Selles, Reuben Selles" song couldn't quite work it out. Anyone shed some light?

Chelsea 0-1 Saints - Match Thread

I guess Selles is expecting it to be all Chelsea so he's looking at how we can hit them on the break... -
The experiment has failed SR. Time to get rid and move on. We had no new manager bounce and he had world cup break to work with them. The only hope we have is someone coming in and giving us that new manager bounce to get some momentum

At this rate I can see us losing to Luton in the FA Cup and Jones taking the credit for it, it really wouldn't surprise me the guy is bonkers!!

Poll: how do you think our League season will end?
westmidlandsaint replied to SNSUN's topic in The Saints
At the moment I just can't see 3 worse teams if I'm honest maybe 1 or 2. Having said that at the start of the season I said Brighton & Fulham would be in bottom three so what do I know. Feels like someone needs to be dragged into it 2nd half the season Everton - think they're in trouble but Dyche could be a good appointment if he can galvanise them. They need DCL to have a good 2nd half of the season. Bournemouth - despite a fairly good window I think they'll still struggle. Relegation awaits. Wolves - good managerial appointment, good transfer window think they'll pull away from trouble. West Ham - they have enough quality, finished in European places with pretty much the same group of players last season. Think they'll start gelling. Leeds - spent a bit January with some half decent signings Wober, McKennie & Rutter. Rodrigo out for a while is bad for them, Bamford is made of glass so could come down to whether Rutter is cut out for the Prem. Leicester - they're a mixed bag aren't they!! Started season poorly, revival before world cup then poor again since. Keeping James Madison fit is key for them. Think they'll have enough but few injuries they could be sucked in. Forest - really not sure how he's going to keep everyone happy there. Might take time for them to gel and he hasn't got a clue about preferred 11. A few bad results and rot could set in. Hopefully they could be dragged back in. Palace - thought they were a team that needed a striker in Jan. Zaha, Eze & Olise give them creativity but lack of quality up top. They are a team that with a few injuries could definitely be dragged in of not careful. -
2nd biggest spenders behind (long way behind) Chelsea in January. Yes, the striker should have been in the summer but well done SR for spending cash. Will it be enough, I bloody hope so just wish I had more confidence in Nathan Jones to deliver.

Marseille back in for Vitinha this is going to drag out isnt it.

Southampton 0-1 Newcastle League Cup Semi Final 1st Leg
westmidlandsaint replied to Saint_clark's topic in The Saints
Looks like he's waiting for a fight outside a Weatherspoons not managing a football match he's so agitated -
Whoever we sign needs to come in and hit the ground running not take weeks to "bed in" we've not got weeks!! Absolutely pointless buying players to sit on that bench and continuing with the same players that have got us in this position.

Loved what he was doing with Pickford before the JWP free kick. If you watch Pickford trying to line the wall up Charly stands in front blocking his view, everytime Pickford takes a step to that side to see around him Charly moves as well.

I'm hoping this is Semmens doing and the SR are going to pull rank. This appointment if indeed it is true worries me immensely. I really thought SR were going to pull a big name out of the hat and make a bit of a splash. I'm clinging to one of the reports that said "Jones was one of the names on the shortlist that we wanted to speak to". The Luton statement is the worrying thing all very nicey nicey, would make me think this is already a done deal.

If it is a straight decision for AMN between Saints and Bournemouth then its just been made a lot easier choice.
-
1st - Man City 2nd - Liverpool 3rd - Spurs 4th - Arsenal 18th - Brentford 19th - Fulham 20th - Bournemouth Saints to finish 11th FA Cup - Chelsea League Cup - Man City

Do you know if he is going somewhere else?

A question for anyone that watches/follows the academy closely is Dibbling really as good as everyone is making out. I only ask as I loosely follow the academy & women's team and before the hatrick against Newcastle I'd not heard of him. Clearly talented by the looks of the hatrick but wondering if people/press have jumped on the bandwagon somewhat.
