The more we talk about van Dyke and the inevitability of him leaving the more we play into Reed's hands. "That's what the fans would like me to do" gets him of the "we will not sell van Dyke" hook at any price, the player is not for sale" hook very nicely, thank you!

Cedric Soares - Official: Loaned to Arsenal
Charlie Wayman replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
That's alright then, just let them have all three and why not let's lob in Romeu as a job lot? 4 for the price of 3. Bet Les has thought of this as well. -

Oh dear! Rather fancy themselves don't they. -
Lazy journalism again. Ignore them. London based media just the same as Manchester based media.

Never smoke without some form of fire, lots of players keen to come but none keen to stay? Like signing up for a sea cruise, looks great in the adds but the reality of life on-board soon gets to you. Just a thought to chuck out there, maybe all the academy stuff gets senior players down, having to train with them when they can see that few are going to make regrade and having to give up their places in the team so that Les can claim that he has 3 or 4 academy boys in the first team so what great club we are?

Of course it's a leak, why do you think you hear nothing from the other party?

What is this little love affair you've got going with Heisenberg? Have you ever met each other? There must be many on here who are as mystified as me and would like to know more.

The article in the Echo probably amounts to the club getting in first on a public statement confirming all the rumours flying around recently. The club is not daft and nor is Les Reed, this confirmation amounts to notification to other clubs that an auction for van Dyke's services can begin now. We know that Chelsea and Man City are interested at the right price and so too it is rumoured strongly is Arsenal. Les probably feels or hopes that one of those three will bid near our asking price so that any re-kindling of Liverpool interest becomes irrelevant. No question van Dyke will go now, all the many, often preposterous "punishments" scenarios dreamed up on here by disappointed fans will not come to pass. vD is an asset (in the strict meaning of the word) and the club will want to liquidise this asset as soon as possible. Les Reed has to get through this somehow without looking like a **** for going back on his word. Trouble for him is that the "vD will not be sold" hook will still hang him if vD goes elsewhere than Merseyside. The only good thing to come out of this is that we had to play for half of last season without him so his disappearance may not be quite the shock to the system as some imagine. We will just have to get more used to being mediocre with little prospect of ever becoming a serious CL challenger. Sadly, this news might stimulate a few more of our brighter stars into concluding that it might not be worth hanging around here. If Ryan or Cedric decides to quit as well we will be in one hell of a mess.

It really is becoming very difficult not to become a total cynic about what is or more probably is not happening up at SMS. Les is trying to take us for fools once again but surely everyone is now wise to his old tactic of publicising new contacts to cover the lack of transfer activity. What we don't know yet is whether he is trying but failing to bring signings over the line or is just playing for time until the end of the window knowing full well that he has no intention of bringing in any new players. The Foster signing had me wondering. now this non-news is helping to confirm what many already guessed might happen. I just do not trust the man!

No it isn't, where's your evidence. Not one of the trolling rumours on here has a shred of evidence to support it.

Saints Transfers Thread - Deadline Day
Charlie Wayman replied to Saint Charlie's topic in The Saints
You know the answer to that yourself! We finished 8th only because there are 13 crap teams in the PL and we just about managed to be top of that list. You only need to compare our goals and points tallies with the year before to realise there is a great deal wrong with our set up that needs to be fixed. Stop deluding yourself or you -

Gobble-de-gook? It doesn't even make sense. -
Five a side?

He may indeed make a better boxer than a footballer. Let's hope Pelligrino is strong enough to tell Les to FO if he tries to insist on poster boy being an automatic pick. Clearly Puel couldn't do that.

How would you feel if no one left but we didn't sign anyone else?
Charlie Wayman replied to Bad Wolf's topic in The Saints
I wouldn't be surprised at all as that is probably what is going to happen anyway. There maybe isn't enough time now for Pellegrino to get to know all his players , their S & W's and to find acquisition targets to replace any current players he feels will not cut the mustard in his set up. -
Are people actually obsessing about this in their sleep? He isn't leaving anytime soon so why all the worry and sleepless nights?
-
Don't be such a misery.

I imagine that is a cleverer remark than most understand? Otherwise wide of the mark this time.

Probably have no interest in Bertrand, more likely agent talk and the usual **** stirring hostility of the Daily Mail to anything Saints related.

Saints Transfers Thread - Deadline Day

It would be good 'though if we did actually sign somebody soon. Mind you Benitez is also finding this window frustrating as asking prices for even journeymen are beyond ridiculous in this season's inflated financial climate. -
The PL seem incapable (or disinterested) of independent judgement of these allegations and it is high time an independent enquiry of this sort of corruption football was set up by the FA under the auspices of a high court judge under oath and legal redress.

WTFILV? -
Not sure this is good news for the lad. If he was to have any future here surely he'd have gone with the 28 man squad to Austria. The fact that he hasn't is a sign that the Club had already made up their mind about him and Pellegrino wasn't going to be given the chance to change their minds. Very unlikely he'll be coming back. Having seen him in action quite a few times with the U23's and in the odd run-out with the grown-ups he came across to me as pretty much a one dimensional traditional centre forward where energy was amongst his strongest suites.
