Thing is, on 29 June (last year) the numbers were still subject to change. Of course none did (?), but new ones were added (Ings, Vestergaard, Gunn, Armstrong, Elyounoussi signed in July or August). There were also numbers announced that were subsequently not used (Carrillo, Boufal, Sims, Reed, McQueen) due to transfers/loans out. So the definitive list is formally submitted and confirmed by the PL much later.
-
Last year the squad numbers were officially confirmed by the Premier League on 4 September. That is when the 25 man squads also were announced. Suspect we will actually announce the main first team squad well before that, at least when the club have shirts to sell.

Exactly who we could do with right now, shame it won't happen. Meanwhile Jason Puncheon has joined Pafos https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49258601

Seriously question that Cedric was shipped out because he was not good enough. He was shipped out because he didn't enthusiastically sign up to Ralph's new ways. After half a season kicking his heels on the bench at Roma and a good talking to by his new wife he has seen the light and realised that he is better off at Saints fighting for a place and eventually a move to a bigger club. Not even sure that Hoedt was shipped out for being not good enough, but anyway looks like he is going anyway so who cares.
-
That's actually 22. What are your plans for Barnes, Hesketh and Carrillo?
-
Yes, he really should have injured his leg long ago, and in his own time.
-
But bringing in an u21 on loan gives Ralph the opportunity to strengthen without having to shift anyone out of the 25 man squad. Thing is, is he better than Klarer, not really a fan of very young CBs, experience e is all important in that position.
-
See he's not in today's squad, hopefully on his way.

Callum Slattery - Official: Signs for Motherwell

Maybe he played against Brentford. -
A non-statement statement. We'll tell all next week.

Never played for Thatcham Town (though he was registered), and is quoted only as "trained" with Reading as a youth player. The reality is that he has played for 7 clubs, including Kintbury, Hungerford, Poole, Swindon, Burney, QPR and Saints. The tweet is so obviously a golf reference "Won't be long before I'm off single figures #progress" really can't undertand why people are still discussing this. His mates (as opposed to the Fanboys and Haters) also responded about golf. He's presumably playing off of 10ish at the moment and should get a cut following a decent round or two, but its harder to get a reduction when your handicap is between 5.5 and 12.4 - 0.2 per shot below the buffer zone. Wish I could get my handicap cut, another .1 increase after yesterday.
-
The point is not whether it's their nickname, it's that it became their nickname only because it was the town's nickname long before.
-
We have other very good examples: Burley/Snodin Hoddle/Gorman Redknapp/Jordan/Smith to name a few
-
Assuming you mean the P word and not Skates, it's because it's not really their name, the word was used as a nickname for the town years before that football club was ever formed. Also, the the thread was about proper football clubs not care in the community tin pot clubs.

It's not a "non-issue" though is it (as others have said)? The persoanl reasons why Danny has left is not the issue and frankly is none of our business. But, he was appointed by Ralph last year on a 2.5 year contract, and was generally lauded as being a very important component in our survival and success after his arrival. Now he has gone (and has been gone for some time, it seems like he has not been around since the end of last season, certainly not since pre-season started) and has effectively been replaced by Craig Fleming, or at least Fleming has been promoted into the first team coaching group. It seems on the face of it Fleming's promotion was actually done because of Rohl's departure. Unless there is something that we don't want to make public about Rohl's departure, given his importance and his closeness to Ralph it would at least be nice for the Club to announce he has left and wish him well for the future. Oh, and update the OS.
-
You describe Boufal very accurately there. Yet lots are clamouring for him to be involved, and that Ralph can work his magic. On some days Lemina was nothing like this, but the inconsistency was worrying. Basically though he doesn't want to be here, and that's that. Best thing is to get shot. Shame, because he is actually a very good player, when he can be arsed.
-
Ah, bless. Hope he was tucked up early in bed to recover from the rigours of the long haul flight from the Netherlands.

Also, Stephens had missed most of Dublin, seemed to have arrived in Dublin for the last day only, so the injury was more likely picked up at Steplewood or during the Brentford or Preston game. Still, nice of the Echo to try and give some information. Would be nice to know what is happening with McQueen, and also what has become of Danny Rohl (probably not injured). Apparently missing our Assistant Manager for the entirety of pre-season seems a little unfortunate, given how important he was to Ralph last season. Still has 2 years on his contract.
-
This is a joke, right?
-
Any ideas when McQueen will be back, I thought it was in the new year.
-
Was always good defensively, easily the best out of the three AMs we had at the time (Redmond and Tadic). It's going the other way that has been the issue, not his individual skills, but his ability to make things for his teammates after opening up a defence. Also often his defensive abilities are often brought to the fore because he has given the ball away.
-
Hopefully Bednarek on the right rather than the left.
-
Stephens same as Romeu, was missing from Dublin until yesterday, reappeared along with JWP
-
Thanks, hadn't realised he was so young. By the way Home Grown players is not an issue, about 17 of the senior players are home grown, 8 is the requirement for naming a 25 man squad, so we would have to move 9 home grown senior players out before it comes into the calculation, which isn't going to happen.
-
5. Currently 30 seniors (over 21s) as far as I can see. We may be able to leave Sam McQueen out for the fist half of the season given he is rumoured to be out injured. Still leaves at least 4. McCarthy, Yoshida, Vestegaard, Stephens, Long, Ings, Austin, Elyounoussi, Romeu, Ward-Prowse, Armstrong, Lemina, Bertrand, Redmond, Hojbjerg, Gunn, Bednarek, Sims, Lewis, Forster, Barnes, Djenepo, Adams, Cedric, Boufal, Carrillo, Hoedt, McQueen, Reed, Hesketh. Possible I've missed a youngster who was u21 last season but has now "graduated", but can't think of anyone.
