Naive, no is not a strong word in contract law. We will also have already paid a substantial instalment so technically "we don't still have the cash". Sooner some people realise we have already bought Danny Ings the better, there is no getting out of it even if we wanted to. The loan is a technicality.

Callum Slattery - Official: Signs for Motherwell
VectisSaint replied to SuperSAINT's topic in The Saints
But what's that got to do with Slattery? Who did we let go in January that we should have replaced and would then have been in the team instead of Slattery. Are you suggesting we should not have let Davis go and that we tried to replace him? Very odd, don't think many here will agree with that idea. As far as I can see the only players we tried to bring in and failed were a RB (the Danish guy at Genk to replace Cedric) and the striker from Brum (to replace Gabbi I suppose). Your attiitude problem is that you (appear to) criticise players for no justifiable reason, seemingly for bbeing that have come through the Academy, which is very odd for someone who claims to support Saints (I really don't know whether you do). Most Saints supporters tend to support Academy players, it is after all where mny of our club "heroes" have come from in the past (if not the Academy then our youth). Bringing through young homegrown players was once what this club was all about, with a smattering of outside superstars to make it work. Thats why Channon, Le Tissier, Holmes, the Wallaces, even Shearer, Benali, Dodd are held in high regard by true Saints supporters. Slagging off nearly every kid that comes into the team because you have a problem with thte club's transfer activity is just plain stupid, and it ****es people off. You still haven't answered who you would have played instead of Slattery on Saturday. The only option that was available seems to be Moi, who has proved once again that bringing in expensive signings doesn't work more often than it does. Flop after expensive flop. Give the kids a go is my view, most of them are certainly no worse than some of the ones that we got rid of, or even some that are still here (Long). -
Just BS from one poster on here.

Hesketh and Flannigan join Burton Albion on loan
VectisSaint replied to SuperSAINT's topic in The Saints
Seems reasonable to me getting money for his services, difference between mid League One and top League Two is not that great and working with Tisdale, Oakley and Butters is probably a lot better than Cloughie. -
It wasn't of prime importance to beat Palace or Burnley, and to get points from both is OK (drawing with Palace was disappointing, while getting a point from Burnley could be seen as a bonus). But ist vital to beat Cardiff, they are the team below us and beating them will open up a gap (5 points) while losing will mean we are 1 behind, a true 6 pointer. Beating Cardiff, Fulham and Huddersfield are the most important things to do to avoid the drop. Beating Burnley and Palace would only have been important if we were targeting finishing higher than 17th. In my view Huddersfield are already down and another 3 point gap will confirm Fulham as well. We need to start to firm up the 3rd spot and beating Cardiff is the way to do that, irrespective of other games. 5 point gaps are difficult to close, and with goal difference you can make that effectively 6. I don't like the idea of must win games but Cardiff is really. We are actually pi king up points regularly now can't see Cardiff bettering us by 6 points in 12 games.

Long is only playing because Obafemi is injured. Ralph is clearly frustrated at losing Oba.

So who would you have had in the side instead? Elyounoussi? ? -
Was getting good review for his second half performance. May have been lucky not to have been red carded at the start. Looked good when he came on before as well. One of the better prospects to be fair. Apart from the rash challenge doesn't look overawed unlike Johnson and initially Valery.
-
Hojbjerg head injury (from Palace game), Ralph said he was a doubt in the press conference. Can't believe people are surprised by his omission. Interesting to see how the team is set up, either 4 at the back with Stephens or Bednarek at RB (more likely Stephens) or 3 at the back with JWP or Slattery playing RWB. Good to see Sims on the bench, didn't he score or come close against Burnley last season? Surprised Charlie gets the nod over Gallagher. Not confident of a result today, going for 1-1, a draw would be positive for me.

Rubbish. It has nothing to do with nationality. Players qualify as homegrown in the English PL if the were trained by an English club for 3 years before the age of 21. Long was at Reading for 3 years from 2005,Davis was a Villa youth player. Cesc Fabregas qualified as homegrown. Armstrong was trained by Dundee Utd so does not qualify as homegrown.

McQueen is out for the season, ruptured ACL beginning of November, so would not have been named anyway, whether he is still with Boro or Saints. No idea whether he did return to Saints for rehab or stayed at Boro, suspect he would have come back to Saints.
-
nor Jack Rose, see MLT on Twitter is trying to get him a loan
-
Can't loan him out if no-one wants to take him, doesn't matter what it costs. No-one seemingly is willing to take the risk.
-
Caceres was not a loan, he was a free agent.
-
Results could have been better bu the important thing is that Cardiff lost. Don't worry about Fulham winning, if we can win tomorrow we have a 6 point cushion over 18th. That's all that really matters.
-
More concerned how Valery will deal with him, will he be able to deal with Zaha windinh him up? Whenever I've seen him he has played predominantly on the left, admit I haven't seen him (much) this season perhaps Woy is deplying him more on the right. Frankly more concerned about Townsend this season, seems to be having a bit of a purple patch.
-
I'd see it more about the capabilities of Gao/Liebherr, i.e. our owners.
-
Should we really be signing Che Zach Everton Fred Adams? Fred and Adams are bad enough, but Everton?
-
Just hope it's not an Agustin.
-
Boufal also booked
-
Don't have a problem with Cedric going. We are not relying on Valery and Ramsay anyway, assuming he is fit Targett is perfectly capable of playing RWB, assuming Bertrand is still around and fit, and if its as a defensive RB in a 4 then Stephens, Bednarek and even Yoshida can play RB. Really hate the use of the term "cull" on here. It really is quite an offensive term.
-
More mobile than Austin probably.
-
But then neither have Everton, poor team, poorly managed.
-
Good luck trying to do that. How can you insist on selling?
