The FA site is ambiguous, but think its after 31 December, not 19 games. Don'think the site would say one away for 4 if the cut off had already passed. Suggest Bednarek won't be available for Chelsea, shame as he had a decent game today.

Whether or not it was a penalty, the problem was that the officials then gave a goal kick whi h should have been a corner, and that lead to City scoring. Happen to think it was a pen, but offi ials are very poor and it's costing us. Lemina has been awful. What does Moi do, absolute waste of space. Target was terrible first 10 minutes but got better.

Would have been slower if Vestegaard had been selected.

Saints 1 West Ham 2 - Post Match Reality Check
VectisSaint replied to St Chalet's topic in The Saints
Although the rule clearly states handball has to be deliberate, PL referees have been given clear direction this season that no goal should be awarded where the ball has hit an arm. The ref should have therefore disallowed the goal against West Ham according to the PL. The IFAB is discussing changing the Law in 2019, but the PL is not thought to be incorporated, and it has been suggested that the FA was completely wrong to issue this directive. -
Absolute rubbish, one of the worst defenders ever and not just at Saints. Just about cut it going forward. WGS saw through him swiftly for Scotland, imagine someone not even considered good enough to get in the Scotland team. Absolute fraud of a footballer and his pathetic stance hands on hips watching the ball head for the net after one of his cockups. He may have been part of a good team but we were good despite having to carry him. Destroyed Hooiveld's career as well. For anyone to compare Targett to Fox is disgraceful. Targett was actually OK last night, not great but OK, only made one mistake if you're being picky, got away with a.ouple of badd errors in previous games. Shame really that we loaned out Sam MCQuuen, would have better suited the wing back position that RH is employing Targett in, but hey that's down to our then crap management.

He was injured according to Sky. Also clear Ralph is trying to play a settled team, Valery did OK against Hudds so no need to change.

BUPA?

Used to be Nottm Forest in the 70/80s, including 2 Cup finals.

Think you'll find he will be added. He would probably have played already if the Club had registered him, scores more than Obafemi and is a better all round player. Very bad management that he was omitted from the squad originally. In theory the squad can be changed as soon as the transfer window opens.

Still looked pretty dodgy on occasions on Saturday. Vestegaard is still an accident waiting to happen very slowly, and Bednarek didn't exactly cover himself in glory when they scored. Hojbjerg's defensive duties were also comedic, Thankfully Mccarthy saved his bacon. Will be interesting to see what Ralph does when Yoshida is away for the Asian Cup and if he reverts to his favoured 4.

Everton v Spurs 2-6 Same as Grobelaar Game scoreline
VectisSaint replied to spyinthesky's topic in The Saints
Jimmy Case (via Brighton). Possibly Bruce Grobbelaar (depending whether you tthink he was good or not) -
I thought he had previously been considered, perhaps back in the summer, but the club obviously ultimately felt Hughes should be given the job after "keeping us up". I imagine recruting him now was just a question of seeing who we had been looking at before and resurrecting our interest, made easier of course by the fact Ralph was between jobs. So yes, it was probably down to Reed, hard to believe Krueger came up with the idea on his own. The Red Bull link may have played a part (going back to Markus' involvement with RB before he purchased us), Red Bull can be quite a tight knit sporting community.

Excitement, love and passion for football rekindled
VectisSaint replied to Bad Wolf's topic in The Saints
Most of them anyway, still Krueger and a couple of others to go yet. -
Can't we just send him down the road to his spiritual home, could probably do some good in the Champ next year.

It wasn't empty. It was a storm in a plastic bottle, not a tea up. Many places actually insist on water bottle tops being removed before you enter a stadium, for just this reason, think we had to for Europa games. Guess banning bottle tops and bananas will be the result.

Manolo Gabbiadini: Joins Sampdoria - Official
VectisSaint replied to Portugalsaint's topic in The Saints
On the PC today Ralph was asked about Lemina and Gabbi, he was quite open and said he wants Lemina, but never mentioned Gabbi in his response. Implied from that he's not worried about Gabbi. -
Directly involved in both Spurs goals as well, providing the assist to the assist. Got away with complete howler though.

Who makes this stuff up. We've clearly already identified successor to McCarthy and signed him. We also have Harry Lewis and Desparate Dan on our books. Suggest the Mail are doing their usual and making things up.

So, we're shot of le Cherif.

May not be so silly for caretaker till end of season which is what they have said they will appoint.

Huddersfield v Saints - Build Up Thread
VectisSaint replied to Yorkshire Saint's topic in The Saints
It doesn't make Huddersfield a free hit, we have to win or at least draw against teams that are down there with us, otherwise they leap frog us. These are the games that we must get something from if we are going to beat the drop, 3 points against the Arse was the unexpected bonus. -

Bertrand has had a minor back operation. No way will he be back next week. I would guess 3-4 weeks minimum. -
Saints 3 - Arsenal 2 - I should start threads more often
VectisSaint replied to Secret Site Agent's topic in The Saints
Well it wasn't built in a day you know. OR wasn't terrible, he made one awful mistake which could have cot us, but otherwise was very good. Targett was good today, but 2 absolute howlers we got away with. Valery did well, but sometimes he looks like he is miles away, I think he will be good once he becomes more confident. Redmond was excellent today, why has he not ever played like that before, partly I suspect because Ralph gave him the freedom to roam, and especially so on the right. Most disappointing performance today was Armstrong, looked ineffective, gave the ball away, did very little (and I'm a fan of his). Also ran out of legs. -
Sam was on a season long loan at Middlesbro, but ruptured his ACL in November, out for the season sadly.
