  1. No we didn't. We signed Jos on loan on 31 Aug 11 because we were desperately short of CBs (1 experienced and 2 youngsters). Bloody good job we did as well otherwise we would have been ****ged. For 1 whole day we had 4, and then Seaborne suffered his injury so we were back to 3 again. We bought Jos 3 months later after he had proved he was a decent CB. From that point on Aaron was 3rd choice CB and played frequently and was very effective when called upon by NA.
  2. On what basis? If he wasn't a fan why did he allow Martin to sign a new 3 year contract at the beginning of the 2011-12 season, when he had clearly seen enough of him during his year in charge. Then he played him 17 times during the Champ season (including cup games). Martin looked decent certainly good enough for the Championship and was a more than adequate stand-in for Jos or Jose when needed. Of course lacks experience, but for a CB 23 is still young. Needs some regular game time, no idea what went wrong at Palace, but for whatever reason his face did not fit. Think he may still have a future with Saints in the longer term, and is certainly a better CB than Seaborne will ever be (in my opinion). I guess he will go out on loan again when a suitable club is found, then we will see what becomes of him next season (depending of course where we are).
  3. I understand he is suffering from cold shoulder. He caught it from Boruc and Lee.
  4. Leaves the U21s a bit light for when they start the elite section games. He is our top scorer in what has become this year a decent competition. Is he better off playing against L1 opposition or Premier League fringe players, not sure any more.
  5. I don't think they need any help. 10 point deduction will see to that anyway, and the way things are going won't actualy have any impact (again).
  6. Absolutely right. Joe Jordan on the other hand...
  7. You did, everyone else saw Wilshere.
  8. Sammy or Super Saint?
  9. Personally I wouldn't risk Fonte, we have no real backup for him at the moment (except Yoshi). Might be better to play Yoshi and Hooiveld. I would also give Lee a run out.
  10. Seems incredible to me, last season Wet Sham were colleting strikers like they were Panini stickers. Where have they all gone? Why on earth would Rickie go to them anyway? If he really wanted to leave (which I doubt) he could choose better i think.
  11. Sorry, saw your request too late
  12. I'm sure you've said this already today. It was one of your funniest comments first time around, there was no need for an encore.
  13. I thought the chants of "******" aimed at Wilshere when Gaston kneed him were optimistic
  14. If we could buy Guly a goal (at the right end) then there could be an argument, but although AL is not prolific he does score a few. Guly is much better defensively. Perhaps a more interesting discussion may be whether we look better with Fonte wearing the armband rather than Adam.
  15. This is getting like a stuck record, would have taken a point but we should and could easily have won. Good performance, especially having played extra game, apart from the free kick Theo didn't get a sniff, we completely stifled them and outplayed for long periods. Yoshi and Fonte were great, Cork very good. Guly played really well, somehow we have to buy him a goal at the right end, you could see how much it was hurting him at the end.
  16. Dyer's fault for the pen evidently
  17. Oh, true could be I suppose. I actually heard it on 5Live initially where I thought they said it had been successfully appealed, but looks like I heard it wrong. Stoke site says they have lodged appeal.
  18. On the BBC: "Steven Nzonzi is available after Stoke appealed against his red card for a challenge on Southampton's Jack Cork."
  19. I was in Swindon earlier, if only I had known that the mighty Skates were in town (I would have avoided the place completely).
  20. I see Stoke successfully appealed Nzonzi's red card. Didn't see anything on the sports news but he was cleared to play today. Seems to be rather a lot of teams successfully appealing reds lately. Always seems a bit wrong to me for the team who had the man sent off wrongly, on the other hand Stoke were definitely better when they went down to 10 men so maybe we should be aggrieved that he was given his marching orders.
  21. Boo. You tricked us. Boo. (I would never boo Guly of course)
  22. Are you Guly? If so Happy Birthday, if not Happy Birthday anyway.
  23. I was feeling charitable.
  24. "Carrico is a versatile player who can play in the centre of defence as well as in midfield". Substitute "Pele" for "Carrico" and all sounds very familiar. Has only played twice this season (due to contractual issues not injury). Remains to be seen if he is a bargain, he is not a full international for Portugal so don't see why this is seen as such a big deal. Sporting are not the team they used to be, in the bottom half of the Primera Liga, although cannot blame Carrico given he hasn't played. Seems a fairly risky signing, can't see he would be any better than Jose Fonte.
  25. and despite this are nearly always wrong. Very seldom gets score right, and is lucky to get 3 or 4 results correct. Yet he is evidently the BBC's expert.
