He is a much better defender than Bale was at similar age. But Bale is not a defender and is clearly world class in midfield where he now plays. If Shaw develops into a world class midfielder I would be very pleased (and surprised), but he will be a high class defender, much better at this role that Bridge was as well.

Why do some people expect him to be scoring lots of goals. He is not an out and out striker, he is a creative midfielder. There is a lot more to his game than scoring goals. Some people seem to have unrealistic expectations.

Some people don't need to dress up to be embarrassing. People who are "embarrassed" by what other people do really are the most embarrassing people around. No life, no sense of humour, have to make their lives interesting by sitting around all day making up stuff for a message board. Given how long they have been running, we should be seeing the fruits of their endeavour starting to come through, certainly at the Academy level. Any evidence of this yet? I know kids who went to Brazilian Soccer Schools who are in their late teens now.
